A son transported his mother to an assisted living facility, where he occasionally paid visits.
After his father passed away, the Son made the decision to abandon his mother and only sometimes pay her visits.
“Once he got a call from an old age facility saying, “Mom, please come for a visit”.
“Son visited his critically ill mother who was lying in bed.
“Mom, what can I do for you? he enquired.”Please install fans in the old age home, there aren’t any,” Mom replied. Additionally, install a refrigerator to preserve food, as I frequently went to bed without eating.Son expressed amazement and inquired, “Mom, why are you telling me all this now that you only have a few hours left?” while you were here, you never complained.
“(It’s OK dear, I’ve managed with the heat, hunger, and pain, but) I’m afraid you won’t be able to manage when your children send you here,” Mom said.
She sternly cautioned me to be careful with the things I left behind and explained that this is why she wants to modernize the old age home because she feared that one day, possibly, my children would leave me there and I would go through what she did. The last thing she said was, “What you give is what you get.”
