With the passage of time, Lois began to experience an increasing burden of remorse. She was aware that she could no longer maintain her secret. Sighing, she turned to see her husband, Clark Kent, one evening.

With hesitation, she said, “Darling, I have to confess something to you. I’ve been battling it for years.”

Ever the patient and understanding spouse, Clark gave her a worried glance. You may tell me anything, Lois. As you are aware.”

As Lois spoke the words that had been bothering her for so long, tears filled her eyes. “I had an affair with Superman a long time ago. Even though it was just for one night, I’ve regretted it ever since. I sincerely hope you will be able to forgive me.”

The room was silent for a brief period of time. Clark removed his glasses while maintaining a composed demeanor. He changed slightly as he disclosed who he really was.

Lois let out a shocked gasp. Clark, you’re Superman, right?

Clark grinned gently and nodded. “I am, Lois, yes. Superman has always been me. You were always true in my sight, even if you didn’t realize it was me.”

Lois felt a wave of relief. She cried out, “Oh, thank God!” “Worthless what a burden that is lifted off my chest,” I said.

Clark laughed a low laugh. With a lighthearted twinkle in his eye, he remarked, “Glad we cleared that up.” “I take it that you were also a Batman?”

Lois erupted into laughing, the warmth of understanding and love taking the place of the tension from her confession. I suppose we all have secrets of our own, don’t we?

The pair then gave one other a laugh-filled embrace, their love stronger than ever as they prepared to face the future together, secrets and all, free from the weight of the past.
