There was once a man who had an intense dislike for his wife’s cat. Every day, the presence of the feline grated on his nerves, and he decided that he couldn’t take it any longer. Determined to be rid of the troublesome cat, he hatched a plan to drive it far away from his home.

One day, he scooped up the cat, drove 20 blocks from his house, and left it in a park. As he returned home, he sighed with relief, thinking he had finally succeeded in getting rid of the pesky creature.

But as he pulled into his driveway, there was the cat, sitting calmly as if it had never left. Perplexed and frustrated, the man couldn’t understand how the cat had made its way back so quickly.

Undeterred, he decided to take more drastic measures. The next day, he embarked on a longer journey, driving the cat 40 blocks away from home before leaving it in an unfamiliar neighborhood. Again, he returned home, hoping that this time he had truly left the cat behind.

Yet, as he pulled into his driveway, there was the cat once more, sitting and waiting for him. The man scratched his head in disbelief.

Determined to outwit the cat, he took increasingly convoluted routes, driving the feline further and further from his home each time. He went miles away, turned right, then left, passed a bridge, turned right again, and made another right turn, thinking he had finally reached a safe distance.

Hours later, the man couldn’t resist his curiosity any longer. He called home to check if the cat had returned. His wife answered the phone, and he anxiously inquired, “Jen, is the cat there?”

His wife, sounding puzzled, replied, “Yes, why do you ask?”

Growing more frustrated by the minute, the man blurted out, “Put that stubborn cat on the phone! I’m lost and need directions!” It seemed that no matter how far he drove or how convoluted the route, the determined cat always found its way back home.
