A woman named Lisa, who was in her late forties at the time, was experiencing an outpouring of unconstrained joy inside of a warm and inviting suburban home. Her enthusiasm was through the roof once she got back from seeing her physician, which she had just done. She was completely carefree and found herself giggling hysterically while jumping about naked on the bed.
John, her husband, was unable to do anything but stand there, looking a little bewildered by the scene in front of him. After he had observed her for a while, he finally spoke out and asked, “Lisa, do you have any clue how absurd you look? What exactly is the issue with you?
Lisa continued to bounce on the bed, unfazed by the expression of bemusement that her husband was wearing, and her laughing could be heard across the room. She responded with a gleeful grin, “I don’t care what you think, John. I’m not interested. What the physician advised me about today will blow your mind. I just got back from getting a mammogram, and the doctor told me that not only am I healthy, but he also thinks that I have the breast tissue of someone who is 18 years old!
John, who was now perplexed by the sudden revelation, laughed and asked, “That’s fantastic news, Lisa! But what did the physician have to say about your bottom, which is 42 years old?
Lisa answered John’s question with a teasing twinkle in her eye and said, “Well, John, funny you should ask.” Your name was never mentioned once when we were having that talk! She gave her hubby a teasing wink before continuing.
John was unable to contain his laughing when confronted with the raucous sense of humor that his wife possessed. He came to the conclusion that one of the reasons he loved Lisa so much was that, in addition to her youthful energy, one of the reasons was her capacity to find joy in the little things in life. The couple’s connection to one another was only deepened by the humorous banter that they exchanged.
As they proceeded to make light of the situation and enjoy themselves, John realized that no matter how many birthdays came and went, he and Lisa would always find new ways to treasure their love for one another as well as their good health and their ability to make each other laugh.
