Zohran Mamdani’s 5-word reply to Trump after calling him a ‘communist lunatic’

The Democratic candidate running for mayor of New York City is retaliating strongly after Donald Trump openly suggested deporting him.

The new political figure that everyone is talking about is Zohran Mamdani.

The 33-year-old Queens Democratic Socialist was little recognized outside of New York a week ago. After upsetting party favorite Andrew Cuomo in a surprise upset in the NYC mayoral primary, he is now being heralded as the Democratic Party’s next major hope.

Mamdani, a Muslim who was born in Uganda, is advocating for radical, Bernie Sanders-style policies, such as universal preschool, free public transportation, a $30 minimum wage, and taxes on the ultra-wealthy to fund them all. Both Donald Trump and the Democratic establishment are uneasy about his abrupt ascension.

Trump didn’t mince words when he called Mamdani “a 100% Communist Lunatic” on Truth Social. “If he does get in, I’m going to be president, and he’s going to have to do the right thing, or they’re not

getting any money; he’s got to do the right thing,” the president stated in a follow-up interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox News, indicating his intention to use his influence if Mamdani wins.

In response, Mamdani stated that he is already accepting the assaults’ personal nature during an interview on NBC’s Meet the Press.

“I’ve already had to start getting used to the fact that the president will talk about my appearance, my voice, my background, and my identity in order to divert attention from the cause I’m fighting for—the very working people he ran a campaign to support and who he has since betrayed.”

“We may need to take him into custody.”

When questioned about Zohran Mamdani’s fearless resistance to ICE raids, Donald Trump once again insulted Mamdani at a press conference in Ochopee, Florida, following a tour of the recently constructed “Alligator Alcatraz” migrant detention facility.

Trump stated plainly, “We might have to arrest him if he’s going to stand in the way.”

“This nation does not need a communist to roam the streets. And for the sake of the country, I will be closely monitoring him if we have one.

Trump then alluded to potential immigration concerns when he said that Mamdani’s legitimacy should be looked into. In 2018, Mamdani, who was born to Indian parents, obtained U.S. citizenship.

“We provide him with the resources and assistance he needs to rule… However, others are now claiming that he may not even be lawfully present. We will examine everything. I hope he proves to be less of a communist than he appears to be. But now? Socialism is not what that is. That is blatant communism.

The comments provoked significant criticism and only served to heighten interest in Mamdani’s quickly increasing profile.

Following threats of arrest and deportation from President Trump, Zohran Mamdani, a well-known member of the Democratic Socialists of America, the biggest socialist group in the US, retaliated.

“The president of the United States just threatened to have me arrested, stripped of my citizenship, put in a detention camp, and deported,” Mamdani added in a stirring statement. I will not allow ICE to intimidate our city, not because I have committed any laws.

He continued after that. The Queens assemblyman cautioned that this was a larger effort to quell opposition rather than only a personal assault:

In addition to attacking our democracy, his remarks aim to convey to any New Yorkers who choose not to remain silent that if you speak up, they will come after you. This kind of intimidation will not be tolerated.

Additionally, Mamdani chastised incumbent New York City Mayor Eric Adams, an independent seeking reelection, for adopting Trump’s language:

“It is a scandal that Eric Adams echoes this president’s division, distraction, and hate at a time when MAGA Republicans are trying to destroy the social safety net, deny healthcare to millions of New Yorkers, and enrich their billionaire donors at the expense of working families.” In November, voters will overwhelmingly reject it.

Meanwhile, Republican Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee remarked, “Goodbye, little Muhammad!” while Mayor Adams charged that Mamdani was “born with a silver spoon in his mouth.” You’re going home if you falsified your N-400 naturalization paperwork.
