Woman Follows 5-Year-Old Girl Who Takes Leftovers from Her Grocery Store Every Day — Story of the Day

A grocery shop owner decides to follow a well-dressed female who visits her establishment daily to pick up leftovers after growing suspicious of her. Her heart is broken by what she finds along the road.

One morning, Kimberly Cook was occupied with replenishing her grocery shop when she first noticed a young child. She would come there at the same time every day, gathering leftovers from the charity area outside the store, where customers often dropped food packets for the homeless. Once she had filled a big bag with leftovers, she would flee.

Kimberly initially believed the child went there with a companion, but she soon discovered she was never there by herself. In addition, the five-year-old was dressed nicely and didn’t look like someone who would be consuming leftovers. So one day she made the decision to go up to her.

The young girl, however, disregarded her as though she hadn’t heard her. She said, “Sorry, I have to go,” and fled while carrying her bag of food packages.

Kimberly waited for the girl to appear the following day since she had a nagging suspicion that something wasn’t quite right. After a few minutes, she realized she was gathering leftovers at the bin once more.

After waiting until the girl had finished gathering groceries, Kimberly instructed her store manager to take care of the store and followed her discreetly in her car from a safe distance so the girl wouldn’t spot her.

As she turned into an alley, she saw her walking contentedly through the streets, swinging the food bag. Kimberly drove into the alley after waiting for her to get to the end. As she reached the end, she saw the girl turning again, but this time in a smaller alley that was too small for her car.

She exited her vehicle and started walking after the girl. She saw that they were in a barren area with only gloomy, dilapidated dwellings that had not been fixed in months or even years.

The young girl made her way to the far end of the neighborhood and arrived at a field full with crops. She went across the field and stopped at a garage that was deserted. What on earth? Why would a little girl like her travel so far? Kimberly pondered.

Abruptly, she noticed the garage door open, and two people came out of it. One was a little puppy that didn’t seem to be in good health, and the other was a boy who seemed even younger than the girl.

Kimberly went to the garage to talk to the kids, but the girl spotted her coming and grabbed the young boy. They ran inside and lowered the shutter after them.

“I have no intention of harming you. Kimberly yelled, “I’m here to help you.” “I am waiting for you to come out because of this. I’m free to enter if I’d like, but just don’t let me frighten you.”

The young girl then raised her voice. “No, we won’t be going out. You’ll make a police call. Go, please.

“Police?” Kimberly couldn’t understand. “No, I won’t. I swear. Are you going to come out right now?

There was silence for a time, and then the girl came out. “Where are the little boy and the dog?” Kimberly questioned her.

The young girl started crying. Don’t take them away from me, please. Jason’s big sister is me. My mother instructed me to take care of him. Stacey is my name. We have a dog, too. Timmy is his name.

“Stacey, please don’t weep. I’ll assist you and your sibling. “Where is your mother?”

“Mommy and daddy went to the angel,” she murmured, wiping away her tears. “So we fled our house and arrived here. According to Mrs. Green, the cops will come and take us to a different location because our parents perished in a fire. But that’s not what I want!”

Kimberly felt a searing pain as she listened to the young girl discuss their parents’ deaths. “When did that occur, Stacey? How long have you been a resident of this place? Gently, she inquired.

“It took place last week. A fire broke out in our home when we were playing outside. After being admitted to the hospital, Mommy and Daddy never returned.

It was impossible for Kimberly to avoid feeling sorry for the poor girl and her brother. “Pay attention, Stacey. You are welcome to accompany me. I swear not to call the police. I’ll see to it that you and Jacob are never parted from one another. Alright, let’s take Timmy to the veterinarian. He appears ill.

“Really?” Stacey’s gaze expanded. “Do you promise Jacob and Timmy will live with me?”

I swear to you, Stacey. Come on, let’s go. “Are you going to accompany me?”

After giving a nod, the young girl motioned for her brother and dog to exit the garage. After bringing them home and feeding them, Kimberly went Timmy to the vet. She told her husband, Josh, what had transpired when he got home, and he advised that they call the police.

“How can you just bring them here, darling? We can’t just keep them, even if I understand that you feel awful for them. What if the police are searching for them?

Josh, I get it, but we can speak with Sandra. We had already decided to adopt, so why not just take these two children in? Please. Sandra can assist us with this; she works as a social worker. And since you are aware of the children’s fear of them, we will have to notify the police in secret.

“All well, then. But first thing the following morning, we’re going to phone Sandra and the police.”

“Sure, honey.”

After speaking with Sandra, who has been a close friend of the couple since they became foster parents, Josh and Kimberly were able to retain the children for foster care with her help. Luckily, the police consented after she convinced them that there would be no issues.

Josh and Kimberly made the decision to formally adopt the kids a month later, and they started the process. After a lengthy process, Jacob and Stacey were at last theirs. Stacey and Jacob were ecstatic to have a loving family where no one would break them up, whereas Josh and Sandra, who were unable to conceive, were ecstatic to have two children and a gorgeous dog.
