My Boyfriend Humiliated Me for Years, but the Gender Reveal Party Was the Last Straw and He Got What He Deserved — Story of the Day

I believed that he would finally treat me differently when I had a baby. In an attempt to strengthen our relationship, I organized a gender reveal party. However, one unforeseen visitor changed everything on that day, forcing me to make the most difficult choice of my life.

It’s said that when someone is unhappy, they will try to find a means to get out. However, leaving is not that easy when love is involved.

People who are in love tend to overlook a lot of things in the hopes that something will change eventually.

I knew this from my own story, not from someone else’s.

I had a deep and abiding affection for my partner, Bob. So much so that I frequently failed to notice all of his shortcomings.

After more than five years of dating, I was positive that I loved him. I thought we would be together for the rest of our lives. But Bob continued to delay discussing marriage.

Every time he said it wasn’t the proper moment, he had an excuse. However, after taking a pregnancy test, I discovered two lines. I believed it to be the ideal moment at last. No greater time could exist.

I was ecstatic. We were expecting a child!

I prepared dinner, put the test in a nice box, and waited for Bob to get home.

An hour later, he frowned as he entered the kitchen.

“Why is all of this happening?”

I softly whispered, “Sit down.” I then noticed that he had an odd smell. “Why do you smell like perfume for women?”

“What are you discussing? Most likely, you sprayed it on yourself, and now you’re blaming me. You have to pick a quarrel all the time.

He was lying, and I knew it. He had the scent. And it wasn’t the first time he’d returned home with lipstick stains on his collar or the lingering scent of perfume on his trousers.

Nevertheless, I hoped that all would change after hearing about the baby.

I gave him the box after picking it up.

“You’re in for a surprise.”

“I hope it’s for fishing,” Bob said with a smile. However, his countenance clouded as he opened the box. “What is this?”

It’s a test for pregnancy! We are expecting a child!

Bob dropped the test out of his hand right away.

“Oh no! You urinated on that object!

What’s the point of that? We are expecting a child! I said it again. “Are you not content?”

Yes, of course, I’m happy. I wanted to know why you’ve gotten so overweight lately.

It was neither the joy I had hoped for, nor the response I had anticipated. At least he didn’t flee, though.

That was worth something, wasn’t it?

Regretfully, I had little expectation that Bob would quit playing around.

He consistently smelled of women’s perfume and arrived home late.

However, it was thought that a man became a father only after holding the kid in his arms, whereas a woman became a mother the moment she became pregnant. So I continued to hope for change.

I heard the doorbell ring one day. It was Bob’s brother, Michael. He was carrying heavy grocery bags.

Michael came inside and said, “Hey,” with a warm greeting. “I thought I’d come visit after hearing the good news.”

He put the bags on the counter and went to the kitchen.

“I brought you some nutritious food because I read that pregnant women require a lot of vitamins.”

“I appreciate it, but you really didn’t need to. How were you even aware of it? I and Bob decided not to inform anyone just yet.

Yes, he did tell me. He has boasted about it. keeps claiming that he will now receive Grandma’s whole estate.

“I don’t get it.”

Michael said, “Well, Grandma stipulated in her will that the first grandchild would inherit everything.” “Your baby would be that.”

“I see.”

“How are you? Are you being treated fairly by Bob? Do you require assistance?

“I’ve never been harmed by Bob,” I said. Michael gave me a pitying look for some reason. However, I’m afraid to go alone to my first ultrasound, which is today. Bob—

“I’ll accompany you.”

“Really? I can’t ask you to do that. You must be quite busy.

“I always have time for you,” Michael reassured me, grinning kindly.

We later accompanied each other to the appointment. It was enchanted. I started crying because I was so overwhelmed when I first saw and heard my baby’s small heartbeat.

However, I saw Michael rapidly rubbing his eyes with his sleeve, so I knew I wasn’t the only one wiping away tears.

The fact that he accompanied me made me happy. Unlike Bob, Michael had always been there.

Even though Bob and I weren’t married, Michael was a good man, and I appreciated that he treated me like family.

Michael drove me home after the appointment and took me out to supper.

Bob hardly looked at the ultrasound pictures when I presented them to him.

Yes, that’s cool. However, nothing is seen in those images.

As the months went by, my belly expanded. Michael provided tremendous support during the pregnancy.

He continuously checked on me and brought me a ton of things for the baby.

However, Bob still didn’t appear to understand that he would soon become a father.

Regarding my pregnancy, he only ever said:

“You should really keep an eye on how much you eat. You’ve put on quite a few pounds.

I asked the doctor not to inform me the baby’s gender when it came time to find out.

In order to find out the baby’s gender in front of loved ones, I decided to throw a unique celebration and invite family and friends. But I didn’t receive the response I was hoping for when I brought up the notion with Bob.

Michael paid us a visit that night.

Bob made no effort to conceal his annoyance.

“Are you serious? A party to reveal one’s gender? How could anyone possibly need that? Bob shouted.

“I do.” I gently said, “I want to celebrate.”

“Have a party? How much money? You don’t work and spend your days at home, and now you want to spend my money on pointless things?

“Remember that it was you who wanted me to resign from my position?” Silently, I said.

“Because you’re female.” In any case, women are incapable of doing their jobs well! Bob continued to shout.

My eyes filled with tears. I covered my stomach with a protecting hand.

“Bob, may I speak with you for a moment?” Michael made a firm inquiry.

“Remain away from this! It’s none of your business! Bob let out a bark.

“Just a minute,” Michael said again, remaining composed.

They entered the kitchen.

I leaned closer to listen in because I couldn’t help myself.

“She’s gone utterly crazy! doing everything in hell she wants to do! Bob yelled.

You are the mother of your child. “You ought to feel thankful,” Michael remarked.

“I refuse to spend money on such nonsense!”

“I’ll cover all expenses. However, you should behave like a nice person,” Michael said.

“I don’t require your fucking charity!” Bob lost his temper.

“I’m not helping you with this. I’m helping her out.

“Oh, I see. You’re after her! The way you gaze at her tells me. You’re attempting to take my girlfriend away! My spouse made the accusation.

Michael said, “If you don’t change your behavior, she’ll leave you on your own,” and left the kitchen.

Before they came back, I hurried back to the living room.

Then Bob and Michael entered together.

“All right. Bob complained, “You can have your stupid gender party.”

Michael said, “Good night,” and proceeded to the front door.

I caught up to him as he was about to go outside.

“I heard what you were saying. I’m grateful for everything.

He’s not worth it, you know that. You stay even if you know he’s cheating on you. “I don’t understand,” Michael remarked softly.

I said, “Because I love him.”

“Do you? Or simply, are you scared to go?

I said, “I have nowhere to go.”

You do, indeed. I’m doing all of this for precisely this reason. Alison, you have to go somewhere. I would still try my hardest to assist you even if you never came to me.

Then, before I could respond, Michael turned and went to his car.

I couldn’t stop thinking about Michael’s statement that Bob didn’t deserve me throughout the days before the gender reveal party.

I hoped he would change, though. I remained hopeful that the baby would transform him. However, that hope seemed increasingly flimsy with every day that went by.

The gender reveal day finally arrived. Bob wouldn’t allow me plan anything at our house, but Michael offered to have the party in his lawn.

Bob’s family, my family, and some of our friends also attended. Although Michael made an effort to grin at me, I could see he was aloof. His heart was troubled by something.

Bob and I entered the center, ready to cut the cake, when it was time to announce the baby’s gender.

As if I were invisible, a woman I had never seen before pushed me away and cut the cake with Bob just as we were reaching for the knife.

The filling was visible to me. Pink. We had a girl on the way.

Joy filled my heart, but soon after, I was confused.

That woman was who? And why was Bob so composed?

“What’s happening?!” I yelled.

“Baby, this is our surrogate, correct?” The woman turned to Bob and cooed.

“That’s her, Stacey,” Bob said.

“What the devil? Who is the surrogate? This is my child! I let out a yell.

“Alison, stop it,” Bob commanded icily. “You didn’t really believe that I would be raising this child alongside you, did you?”

“What are you discussing?”

“Take a look at yourself. You’ve fallen behind. You’ve put on weight. You’ve lost your attractiveness. Not like Stacey. Stacey is stunning. Furthermore, she refuses to give birth. All we’re doing is taking the baby.

“You can’t simply take my kid away!” Tears were streaming down my face when I let out a cry.

Yes, I am able to. You don’t have a job or a house. If you are unable of caring for yourself, who will allow you to raise a child? You serve only as our stand-in. After I get the baby, I’ll get Grandma’s inheritance.

Bob’s grandmother scowled in indignation as I turned in time.

Michael came in behind me when my world was falling apart. He knelt down after I gave him a look.

“Alison. Are you going to wed me? I am prepared to bring up this child as my own.

All of my memories of Michael being there when Bob wasn’t suddenly came crashing down. All of his modest acts of compassion, encouragement, and quiet strength, as well as the times he assisted me.

I came to the realization that I had always picked the wrong brother.

Yes, I said in a whisper before giving Michael a brief but startling kiss.

“Are you both joking with me?” Bob let out a yell. “That’s my child! The inheritance is still mine!

Bob’s grandmother firmly stated, “The child is raised and loved by the real father.” “Therefore, don’t expect anything.”

“This was all arranged by you! Only to steal my money!

“I love Alison more than you do. “I don’t give a damn about inheritance,” Michael said. “Now leave before I eject you myself.”

“You’re going to regret this!” Bob yelled. They hurried away after he took Stacey’s hand.

I put my arms around Michael tightly and squeezed myself against him.

I said in a whisper, “Thank you.”

“Always.”
