‘DWTS’ Crowns Season 34 Winner After ‘One of the Tightest’ Votes – But Fans Are Calling It a ‘Robbery’

As they competed for the prized Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy, the surviving contestants all gave flawless performances in the final, dancing through three rounds.

On Tuesday, November 25, the season 34 finale of “Dancing with the Stars” (“DWTS”) was shown, and a winner was announced.

Fans’ reactions to the announcement of the new champions were divided; some believed their favorites had been defrauded, while others felt the winners deserved it.

One Night of Intense Competition, Three Rounds

Like his sister Bindi did ten years ago, Robert Irwin won the Mirrorball Trophy, continuing her legacy.

During the season 34 finale, the animal conservationist and his professional dancing partner, Witney Carson, were declared the winners.

For the finale, Irwin and Carson put on a fantastic performance. They faced fierce competition from fellow finalists Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Jordan Chiles and Ezra Sosa, Elaine Hendrix and Alan Bersten, and Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy because of their impressive performances.

Together with their professional partners, the finalists each gave three dance performances. Judges’ Choice, Instant Dancing, and Freestyle were among them. Under the judges’ guidance and coaching, the couples performed a final ballroom or Latin dance style in the Judges’ Choice round.

The participants’ ability to improvise was next put to the test in the Instant Dance round, where they had just minutes to master their song and dance style. In the final Freestyle round, the couples gave it their all, contributing their inventiveness and vigor to the legendary final performance.

During the live simulcast of the finale, fans had the opportunity to cast their votes. To determine which couple would get the Mirrorball Trophy, the judges’ scores were added to the results of the live public votes.

Robert Irwin’s Incredible Victory Secures the Mirrorball Trophy

To win the championship, Irwin and Carson sacrificed everything on the dance floor. They gave a spirited Quickstep to Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” during the Judges’ Choice round. After that, they dazzled the crowd with a freestyle performance to Avicii’s “The Nights” and Sam Sparro’s “Black & Gold.”

During the Instant Dancing portion, the pair also performed a Cha Cha to “Cake by the Ocean” to demonstrate their rhythm.

Alfonso Lincoln Ribeiro declared the standings when it was finally time to make the results public. Efron and Karagach came in fourth, while Elaine and Bersten came in fifth. Third place went to Chiles and Sosa.

Irwin and Carson, as well as Earle and Chmerkovskiy, both garnered more votes than any other person has ever received on “DWTS.”

Additionally, the distance between them “is one of the tightest” they have ever seen in a finale, according to judge Julianne Hough. In the end, Ribeiro declared Irwin and Carson to be the new “DWTS” champions.

Fans Are Furious About the Final Outcomes

Another responded, “Yeah you’re right,” while another posted, “I witnessed a robbery and I am reporting it to the police [sic].” Let’s report the robbery that Jordan did.

It’s true that she had the best freestyle. A third individual expressed a different opinion, saying, “Should’ve been Alix.” With pity, another fan said, “Alix was robbed unfortunately.”

Others defended Irwin, claiming that his victory was well-deserved. “No you witnessed a robbery [sic],” one fan countered, while another applauded his effort, saying, “He had no dance experience at all when he entered DWTS, but he had a great time and gave it his all.” No robbery, for sure.

Numerous others concurred that the environmentalist was an exceptional dancer, saying, “America got it right.”

Despite having no prior dance expertise, Robert was appropriately voted the winner. Congratulations, Witney and Robert! Very well-earned [sic]. The fan responses demonstrated the polarization of the audience about the Season 34 winner.

Behind the Mirrorball: Tears, Pain, and Perseverance

Irwin was ecstatic about his victory despite the division. “My sister said it best: Thank you for changing my life!” Irwin poured. Carson added, “I’m so grateful for Robert, honestly — I already feel like I won with him as my friend and I can’t thank you enough.”

Witney Carson revealed prior to the finale that Irwin had been experiencing rib pain, but she anticipated that he would continue practicing until the very end.

“Eleven weeks of hard, intense, and insane dancing. I can feel it in my body. Robert’s body senses it. Right now, we’re kind of disintegrating. merely attempting to maintain composure for another two days or so. “Today and tomorrow, literally, and then it’s over,” Carson remarked.

She added that it had been a fulfilling and significant experience to work with Irwin during the season.

Every Performance Features the Legacy of a Father

Irwin sought methods to pay tribute to his late father, Steve Irwin, throughout the season. He revealed on Instagram on November 17 that he carries two emotional objects with him to rehearsals: one of his father’s shirts and a ring made from the keys to his childhood house.

Despite the fact that the shirt is damaged in spots and has need numerous repairs over the years, Irwin has worn it to every rehearsal. “This shirt has seen a lot, as evidenced by the numerous tears, holes, and missing buttons. He said, “I suppose it’s a good example of how dad lived his life: at 100%.”

“Before you guys see my dance in costume, I’ve always done that dance — at least once — in dad’s shirt,” the environmentalist revealed. All it does is keep me near home and around him. Every time I put it on, it feels like a huge hug.

What Will Happen to the Wildlife Warrior Next?

Robert Irwin discussed his future plans after his victory. He revealed that his schedule kicks up right after, starting with a trip to New York, then going to South Africa to film a different project before returning home.

Additionally, he disclosed that part of his next plans will involve Carson joining him in Australia. In response, Carson remarked, “You’re not getting rid of me that easy.”

As Irwin put it, “I’ve been able to write my own legacy with Witney as we tell stories of positivity, vulnerability, passion, and fun.” It has been an incredible journey for the two of them.

The environmentalist went on to say. “I will always continue my dad’s mission as a proud Wildlife Warrior. I feel so fortunate to be able to do it in the ballroom.

Irwin gave powerful performances and highlighted his environmentalist beliefs throughout the season. He demonstrated that he could follow his passions and be a great dancer at the same time.
