At My Wedding, My Sister Walked in With My Fiancé Saying, ‘Surprise! We’re Getting Married Instead’
My dress vanished from the bridal room on the day of my wedding. My sister wore it and carried my fiancé on her arm as she walked down the aisle a few minutes later. “Surprise,” she said to the 200 visitors. “We’re getting married instead.” They were both unaware that I had planned a surprise of my own.

I thought Nick was the safest thing in my life for a long time.
He made everything seem simple when we first met. His gift was that.
He was also adored by my family. especially Lori, my sister.

We were all having supper at my mom’s house when she first met him. He truly praised Mom’s roast, laughed at my uncle’s terrible jokes, and assisted with bringing plates to the table.
While he was in the kitchen, Lori leaned down to say, “Oh my God.” I’ll marry him if you don’t.”
He made everything seem simple.

We chuckled.
Even Nick laughed when I told him later. “Good to know I have options,” he replied, throwing an arm around my shoulders.
It appeared to be the kind of innocuous joke that families tell when everything is cozy and secure.

In a sense, my mother was worse than Lori. One Sunday, she remarked, “You’ve finally found a good man.” “Don’t let this one go.”
I grinned until my cheeks ached.

Even Nick laughed when I told him later.
After two years, Nick asked me to marry him when we were on a stroll in the park. Before he had even finished opening the ring box, I replied, “Yes.”
He chuckled. “I didn’t even finish.”

I put my arms around his neck as he slid the ring onto my finger. I imagined spending my old age with him.
I began organizing the wedding of my childhood dreams.
We reserved a lovely chapel and created a guest list that quickly got out of hand. All of it involved Nick.
I began organizing the wedding of my childhood dreams.

We made the decision to divide the expenses equally early on in the planning process. However, it was difficult to make that work practically.
I sank onto the table and yelled into the paperwork one evening after spending hours sorting through quotations and invoices to split the expenditures and determine who would sign which contract.
I handed Nick the stack of vendor papers, and he said, “Let me handle the contracts.”

I raised my head. “You sure?”
I yelled into the documents.”I’m sure,” he said with a smile. “The groom is me. Other than showing up and looking well, I ought to accomplish something. Simply send in your portion of the payment prior to the wedding.
So he went through the admin while I looked at color samples and had in-depth conversations about flowers.

He would show me the invoice and write down the amount I owed to cover my portion of the cost whenever we had completed signing off on something.
Our lives were coming together. I didn’t find anything odd about that.
It felt mature, if anything. similar to a partnership.
He would show me the bill and make a note of the amount I owed.

I left work early three months before to the wedding because a client appointment had to be canceled.
Nick’s vehicle was parked in the driveway.
When I saw it, I grinned. My initial thinking was that we might have an unplanned peaceful evening together since he was scheduled to work late.
Kicking off my heels near the door, I entered silently.

Then I heard people talking in the living room.
I arrived home early.Andrea is still clueless,” Lori remarked.
Nick gave a snort. She doesn’t, of course. She has total faith in us.
I froze. What was it that I was unaware of?
“So when are you actually dumping her, baby?” Lori asked, lowering her voice this time.
What?
Nick laughed. “We’ll take care of it when the wedding day arrives. She will have paid for everything by then, at which point you can just replace her. It’s ideal. When are you going to dump her, then?
There was no error or miscommunication, even though I wanted to think it was all a horrible dream.
Lori and Nick… speaking about me as if I were a fool. As if I were a wallet wearing a white outfit.
Silently, I retreated, left through the front door, and got into my car.
I started crying. I became enraged after that.
I then got to work making plans.
I was not going to make it easy for them to humiliate me.
I then got to work making plans.
I discovered how deep it went over the course of the following three months.
Because they believed I was blind, they were careless. Or perhaps it’s because individuals become careless when they think they’ve already won.
One evening, Nick showered with his phone on the sink, and the screen was illuminated by messages.
My worries about my fiancé cheating on me with my sister were dispelled by the pictures and messages Nick and Lori had been sending each other.
However, the worst part wasn’t even that.
When people think they’ve already won, they become careless.
I was at my folks’ place one day when Mom’s iPad lit up with a preview of a message from Lori.
If Andrea freaks out, what should we do?
Mom had left the device unlocked while she was in the restroom. I gave the message a tap.
That’s when I saw the message that permanently altered me.
She refuses to. She has never been strong enough to defend herself.
I gazed at it for so long that the words became hazy. My mom knew about it.
I snapped a picture, texted it to myself, and then removed it. On the day of the wedding, the three of them were in for a huge surprise!
I saw the message that permanently altered me.
On the wedding day, the chapel looked stunning. Everything was flawless, including the décor and flowers.
Knowing it was all a lie made me cry, but I wiped them away. I had to make sure everything was ready for my surprise.
I had no idea how deeply Lori and Nick planned to deceive me.
I arrived at the bridal suite just in time to prepare for “my wedding.”
However, my gown had vanished.
Everything was set up for my surprise.
I gazed at the vacant hanger. They didn’t—not my dress, anyway. They wouldn’t also steal that.
Wearing the dress I had arrived in, I dashed back outside. The majority of the visitors had already taken their seats. The doors of the church opened wide as I approached its main entrance.
And there they were.
In my wedding dress, Lori entered through the big doors. As if they were the stars of a terrible little play, Nick stood next to her, her fingers looped through his arm.
And there they were.”Surprise!” Lori spoke to the room with brightness. “We’re getting married instead.”
Some gasped. Some simply gazed. A few stared at me, anticipating the moment. waiting for me to crumble.
My mom got up from the front pew and began applauding.”Well,” she exclaimed, “this makes much more sense.”
I gently turned to look around the room. Two hundred guests gazed at us with a mixture of horrified and perplexed looks.Instead, we’re getting married.”
I grinned after that.”I’m happy everyone is present,” I remarked. “Because I have a surprise, too.”
Nick scowled. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
I gave the sound and video technician a signal. “Play it.”
The white screen at the front displayed all the screenshots I had taken of Lori, Nick, and my mother exchanging messages about the wedding and my sister’s liaison with my fiancé as the lights went down.
The whispers soon began.I also have a surprise for you.
Too loudly, someone in the front said, “Oh my God.”
“They’re stealing her wedding?” said another woman.
“Her own family did this to her?” I heard someone scream.
Nick’s face went pale. Lori released his arm.”Switch that off,” she growled.Perhaps you shouldn’t do such terrible things to people behind their backs if you don’t want them to know the truth about you, Lori, Nick, and Mom.”This was done to her by her own family.”Mom exclaimed, “Andrea, you’re creating a huge fuss over nothing.” “Nick and your sister are in love. They were unsure of how to inform you, so they—”chose to take over my wedding?
Mom’s mouth fell open. She turned to face the folks seated closest to her, but they offered her no assistance.
At that moment, Nick moved in my direction. “So what? You discovered it. Congratulations. However, the wedding is still taking place.
Beside him, Lori straightened. “You can’t stop it.”
I grinned. “Oh, I have no intention of stopping it.”Nevertheless, the wedding is taking place.
Nick and Lori looked at each other bewildered.
I took out a folder. “I decided that if you want my wedding so badly, you can have it. I simply wasn’t ready to cover any of the costs.”
He gazed at me. “What?”Remember, you were in charge of the vendor contracts? I paid my portion, but you signed everything.”
His face shifted. It was better than any speech I could have prepared since I witnessed the precise moment he realized where I was going.I concluded, “So, you are the only one legally obligated to pay for this wedding.”I paid my portion, but you signed everything.”
The wedding planner, who had been acting as though she prayed the floor would open for the past few minutes, moved forward with a clipboard just in time.”Pardon me,” she began cautiously, glancing at Nick. “The final balances for today’s event are still outstanding.”
Nick slowly turned to face me. “You never paid anything?”
Whispers began to circulate throughout the congregation.
I crossed my arms. “Not a penny.”
Whispers began to circulate throughout the congregation.
He moved closer by one step. “You lied?””Yes,” I said. “I told a falsehood. You intended to take my wedding and degrade me. Did you really think I would have to pay for that as well?
Next in line was the caterer. “Sir, we need payment authorization before service continues.”
He was accompanied by the venue management. “And settlement of the hall balance.”
From close to the aisle, the band leader raised a hand. “Same here.”
Like a man imprisoned in a burning room, Nick surveyed his surroundings. “This is insane.”You told lies?
Lori took hold of his arm. “You have money, right, baby?”
He took a swallow.”Not sufficient—not $80,000. How about you? He looked across at Lori. “Can’t you pay your sister’s share?”
Lori’s mouth fell open. “Are you serious? I can’t, of course.”
That resolved the issue.
The room exploded.
Embarrassed, Nick’s father rose from the second pew. “Nicholas, how dare you embarrass our family like this?””You have money, don’t you, baby?”
Nick turned to face him, his eyes filled with fear.
Now desperate, Lori turned to face the room. “Nick and I are still getting married!”
“With what money are they getting married?” exclaimed a guest close to the aisle with a brief, incredulous laugh.
Before I could respond, the caterer did. “Not without payment, you aren’t.”
Wild and angry, Lori’s gaze met me. “You can’t just ruin everything.”
“You wanted the wedding,” I murmured, glancing at her as she stood there wearing my life as a costume. Bills included, I’m just giving it to you.”I’m still getting married to Nick.
I started strolling in the direction of the doors.
One of my bridesmaids behind me said, “I’m with her.”
Then one more.
Then I heard movement throughout the entire church. Low sounds, rows of visitors standing. The majority of them were trailing me out by the time I got to the doors.
Nick’s voice eventually cracked with panic as he yelled after me. “You can’t just walk away.”
I took one look back.
The majority of them were pursuing me.
Still standing close to the doors, Nick and Lori were mobbed by sellers who demanded payment.
My mother was being reprimanded by Nick’s father. Nick’s parents were standing across from her, and Dad’s judgment was obvious.”Andrea!” exclaimed Nick. “Come back here, and make this right.”
I went out into the sunlight after turning on my heel.
I had already put things right. I had revealed a heinous scheme to defraud me and made sure those responsible faced the repercussions.
And it was pleasant.
