Mariska Hargitay gave fans a close-up look at her makeover on Monday, May 4.

Adir Abergel, her hairstylist, announced a new hairstyle for Hargitay ahead of a significant milestone: her first Broadway appearance in the play “Every Brilliant Thing” with a carousel of gorgeous images on Instagram that were equal parts editorial shoot and backstage diary.

The caption on the photo said it all:

“A NEW CUT FOR THE ONLY @therealmariskahargitay BROADWAY DEBUT.

And Hargitay herself? In response, she used precisely two words: “Switching gears.”

The pictures are a master class in self-assurance. The 62-year-old is depicted in black-and-white photos giggling uncontrollably, staring into a vanity mirror while applying lip gloss, and making postures fit for a magazine cover.

Her new hairstyle, a dishevelled, chin-grazing bob, gives her face a modern yet classic edge. As expected, the internet exploded.I’m obsessed with the bob! It’s really delicious.

One reader gasped in the comments, “How rude of Mariska to be able to pull off basically anything and look absolutely fabulous.” Another exclaimed, “You look ten years younger.”
