Adopted Girl’s Tearful Gratitude: ‘Thank You, Mom & Dad!

‘Thank you, Mom & Dad!’ Adopted Girl Tears Up Seeing Her Bed After Being Homeless for Years – Story of the Day

The tiny girl they found abandoned beneath a park bridge was loved and adopted by Veronica and Joseph, but she never said a word to them. But one evening, she surprised the pair by entering their bedroom and crying, “Thank you, Mom & Dad.”

Veronica and Joseph were wandering across the park together as the sky turned a gorgeous pink. Having lost their only child to cancer, the couple discovered that being in nature was healing.

Veronica softly put her head on Joseph’s shoulder as they got closer to the park’s bridge and inquired, “Should we try for another kid, honey? Perhaps that will bring about a change in events. How do you feel?”

Joseph let out a sigh. He answered, “We can, hun.” “But do you really believe that? I’m not going to do it quickly. Before we think about this, we must be in the correct frame of mind.”

After a moment, she murmured, “You’re right,” her eyes welling with tears. “Our little boy, Sammy, is still missed by me. How could God take him away in such a horrible way?”

That day, as Veronica sobbed into Joseph’s shoulder in memory of their late son, she became aware of several eyes fixed on them. Though she was expecting something different, she was unprepared for the sudden disappearance of a shadow beneath the bridge.

Veronica said, “One second, honey,” brushing away her tears as she peered beneath the bridge and saw a tiny child peering at her with huge brown, inquisitive eyes. Her face, hands, and bare feet were all filthy, and she was dressed in a soiled gown.

“Hello, my love,” Veronica replied softly. “What are you doing here by yourself?”

The girl just kept staring at her without saying anything. Veronica asked, “Would you like us to help you with something?” “This is Joseph, my spouse. My name is Veronica. “What is your name?”

The girl remained silent throughout.

With a sigh, Veronica turned to face Joseph. Could you talk to her? She appears frightened.”

With a nod, Joseph moved toward the girl. “Hello, my love,” he said. “Hey, we’re heading to that cafe by the park for some hot chocolate and sandwiches since we’re ravenous. Can you come along with us?

Love is the strongest medication there is, and it works wonders.

With a “yes, sweetie,” Veronica held out her hand to the girl. “Are you interested in joining us? You are free to choose not to speak. We might indulge in some delectable food!”

After glancing from Veronica to Joseph, the girl moved in Veronica’s direction.

“Yes,” Veronica supportively replied. “You can hold my hand!”

The girl then took a few more steps in Veronica’s direction before ultimately putting her hands in hers. With a gentle smile, Veronica responded, “Wonderful, sweetie.” “Let’s go get you some food!”

After taking the girl to the cafe, Veronica and Joseph purchased her a chocolate shake and sandwiches. She ate the food silently, but her messy appearance caused everyone else to stare at her strangely.

Veronica whispered to Joseph, “I wonder what a little girl is doing here in such a state, honey.” “We should get her home, but we’ll need to report to the police.”

Joseph said, “Let’s get her home first, hun.” “She looks like she was in trouble and hungry too.”

Veronica and Joseph then took the young girl home and made sure she slept in Sam’s comfortable bed that evening. When the authorities started questioning the girl the following morning, she fled behind Veronica, even though they had alerted the police and CPS.

“She seems to be trusting you,” Veronica was told by the social worker. “Have you considered providing for her? We know she feels comfortable here, but if she won’t speak up, there is nothing we can do.”

Joseph answered, “We haven’t thought about it yet.” However, he remarked, glancing at Veronica, “I don’t think we are ready for it.”

“NO!” Veronica stopped him and gave the girl a tight hug. “That is something we can accomplish. We are certified as well because, well, we considered adoption once.”

“That’s great,” the employee replied. “While we look for her parents or anyone else who knows who she is, you can keep the girl. Wishing you luck!”

Even Veronica was baffled as to why she chose to keep the girl at home and experienced such an odd connection with her. When the girl grabbed her clothing with her small fingers and hid behind her as if she knew she would be hugged and protected, she just couldn’t let her go.

With time, Veronica and Joseph came to love the girl as if she were their own, and as her family could not be located, they even adopted her. However, there was one issue. The girl simply remained silent. She remained silent even when she didn’t like anything.

The couple was disturbed by this and decided to take her to a doctor, who diagnosed the girl with trauma.

“It’s quite shocking,” the physician remarked. “Your daughter has gone through a horrific experience, and she is still not fully recovered. Though science in medicine can accomplish great things, I think your daughter needs love and care the most right now. Only you, as her parents, are capable of that.”

Veronica cried that night, thinking what their little angel had been through, and she made a promise to herself to do everything in her power to aid in her recovery.

Joseph comforted her, saying, “It’ll all be fine, honey.” “I’ve thought of a plan. We can attempt it, though I doubt it will have a big impact.”

As a surprise, Joseph and Veronica planned to give their young daughter Milly a princess-themed room. As a token of their recovery following his passing, they took out all of Sam’s old possessions and completely redone the walls, bed, closet, and everything else!

The couple yelled, “Surprise!” as they showed Milly the room.

They were disappointed, though, because Milly showed no signs of excitement.

Veronica questioned, “Did you not like your room, honey?” It’s all about princesses, you see! And at last, you have a bed of your own! Everything is yours! We both know how much you like princesses, Daddy and I.”

Milly turned to face them and then back to the chamber, but she remained silent.

Disappointed, Veronica and Joseph went back to their room.

Joseph added, “I think we should take her to a therapist.” “That would be the best.”

At that moment, Milly entered their bedroom. She was crying, and Joseph and Veronica were taken aback.

“What’s wrong, sweetie?” Veronica enquired. “Are you all right?”

When she said, “Thank you… Sky,” Veronica and Joseph were taken aback. Their daughter had spoken.

“I’m grateful, Mom and Dad. The princess, the bed… I adore it!” she exclaimed. “Can—can you call me Sky?”

Veronica and Joseph were sobbing as they gave Milly a hug. “Honey, we adore you,” Joseph continued. “Was Sky your previous name?”

The girl gave a headshake. “I—I was in the park with Mommy and you, and the sky was pink. “My name is Sky.”

Veronica grinned. “Obviously! You are the sky! Not Milly! For us, you’re Sky!”

Milly/Sky told Veronica and Joseph her tragic story later that day. She disclosed that she had spent years living on the streets with her birth mother, sleeping in alleyways, beneath bridges, and any other available space when her mother passed away.

When they heard that, the pair sobbed and hugged her. “Sky,” Veronica murmured. “Honey, I also recall the pink skies that day. All of this, in my opinion, was intended.”

What lessons may we draw from this tale?

Love is the strongest medication there is, and it works wonders. Milly/Sky’s heart was finally mend by Veronica and Joseph’s love, and she accepted them as her parents.

There’s more to a family than biology. After losing their son, Veronica and Joseph were saddened, but Sky’s love was able to mend their hearts.

Talk about this tale with your companions. It could motivate them and make their day better.
