I Rushed Home from a Business Trip to Find Another Man by My Wife’s Hospital Bed

I Cut Short My Business Trip upon Learning My Wife Was in the ER – Found Another Man by Her Bed When I Arrived

When Ethan returns from a business trip and finds his wife in the emergency room, his entire world is turned upside down. Nothing can prepare him for the sight of another guy sitting by her bed, albeit his pulse racing with worry. The man’s admission puts everything Ethan believed to be true about his marriage in jeopardy. What secrets does this stranger possess, and who is he?

Life appeared to be ideal.

Isabel and I had been wed for eight years. I believed that our life was perfect and that we lived in a lovely home.

I made sure I did everything in my power to support us by getting up early every morning and going to work. Together, Isabel and I had created a nice existence, and I thought that my diligence had kept her content.

Isabel was my best friend in addition to being my wife. Together, we would fantasize, laugh, and discuss our future. I did everything in my power as a spouse to make her feel valued and tried to be a good husband.

I felt a rush of contentment one evening as I sat on our patio and watched the sunset.

“We really do have a great life, don’t we?” Isabel joined me as I said this. She nodded and smiled, but there was something I couldn’t quite read in her eyes.

She whispered, “Yeah, Ethan, it’s wonderful.”

I didn’t challenge her. I assumed that she was simply fatigued from the day. Like any marriage, we had our ups and downs, but I always thought we could overcome anything as a team.

I was in error.

My phone rang when I was traveling on a work trip approximately forty miles out of town on the interstate.

Even though I didn’t recognize the number, I felt compelled to answer it. “Hello?”

“Is this Ethan?” questioned a female voice.

“Yes, who’s calling?”

“Nurse Karen from the nearby hospital is here. Isabel, your wife, is in the ER. She is not conscious.”

My heart gave out. “What took place? Is she in good health?”

Her arrival was not too long ago. I’m not sure about all the specifics yet, but you must see the hospital right now.”

I felt panic take hold of me. “I’ll be there right away.”

After hanging up, I drove off the road right away, trying to calm down and shake my hands. Isabel was unconscious at the hospital. My mind was full of worries. What might have taken place? When I left her this morning, she was fine.

I shifted the vehicle and resumed my journey back to the city, pressing down firmly on the accelerator. The normally picturesque trip seemed unreal at this point. With dread for Isabel dominating my thoughts, each mile felt longer than the last.

My mind raced through possible worst-case scenarios, each one more horrifying than the previous.

“Please be okay, Isabel,” I said to myself as I firmly grasped the steering wheel. Tears filled my eyes and the road ahead became hazy. I tried to wipe them away and concentrate on returning as soon as I could.

When I phoned the hospital again, they could only provide me with the information that she was still unconscious and receiving treatment. I was dying with uncertainty. My mind kept straying to potential problems. Was there a mishap? An unexpected sickness?

I finally arrived at the town limits after what seemed like an eternity. The hospital was now only a short drive away. I silently prayed, pleading for Isabel to be alright. I had to keep her close. not in this manner.

My pulse thumping, I dashed through the hospital doors as soon as I got there.

“Where is my wife?” Furiously, I asked at the nurse’s station. “William Isabel. She’s here, I heard on the phone.”

The nurse appeared perplexed. “That seems strange. I assumed she was brought in by her spouse. He is currently with her.”

My perplexity increased. With terror mounting in my voice, I insisted, “I’m her husband.”

She gestured along the corridor. “Room 12.”

I raced to the ward, feeling disoriented. A man was sitting next to Isabel’s bed, holding her hand, as I walked into the room. I walked up to him and he looked up.

“Who are you?” I made a demand, my voice trembling with fear and rage.

Calmly, “I’m Logan,” he answered. “Her partner. We have dated for a full year now. While you were away on business, we had an accident. I instructed the nurse to phone you after bringing her here.”

I felt a wave of wrath and my hands clenched. I wanted to scream, to punch him, to take action. However, I made myself remain composed. “You’re her lover?” Struggling to maintain a steady tone, I asked.

Logan answered, “Yes.” “But she loves you, I know that. You were constantly so preoccupied with work that she felt ignored.”

I remained motionless, attempting to comprehend his words.

Did Isabel have a partner? Did she feel abandoned? It was unbelievable to me. My heart hurt as I stared at her unconscious as she lay there.

Logan kept talking as we waited for Isabel to wake up. “Ethan, I really do care about her. However, she never stopped talking about you and how much she missed the past. She sensed that you were growing distant from her, but she was unsure of how to let you know.”

His remarks pierce deeply. I thought I was doing the right thing for our family, therefore I had been working so hard. However, I was unaware of Isabel’s emotions. I felt remorse and rage at the same time as I looked at Logan and saw the sincerity in his eyes.

“Why didn’t she talk to me?” More to myself than to him, I questioned.

Logan gave a shrug. “Perhaps she was scared. Perhaps she assumed you wouldn’t pay attention. I’m not sure. However, now that she’s here, she needs you.”

I inhaled deeply as I worked to control my feelings. Isabel needed my whole attention to help her get through this.

Logan softly said, “She wanted affection and attention.” “That’s why she cheated.”

My heart was broken by a sharp agony. I experienced difficulty breathing.

I said to her, “I love her,” as softly as possible. “I believed that the best way to take care of her was to work hard. I was in error.”

“Ethan, I understand. You were following your moral convictions. However, she need more than that.

My heart ached as I stared at Isabel, lying there motionless. How could I have missed it? How had I missed what she was in need of? I carried a lot of grief and shame.

Logan gave a sigh. It was me that introduced myself to the nurse as her spouse. When I brought her in, I didn’t want to make things more difficult. I apologize for any confusion.

I shook my head, attempting to take it all in. I managed to get out the words, “I appreciate that you brought her here,” despite my difficulty. “But this is something Isabel and I need to face together.”

Logan gave another nod. “I recognize. I’ll back off. She needs you right now.”

Isabel’s eyes suddenly flutter open, her gaze initially averted. She then gave me a confused glance before focusing on me.

“Ethan,” she murmured with a feeble smile. I felt a wave of relief.

“I’m here, Isabel,” I replied, lightly gripping her hand.

She looked over and noticed Logan. “Who are you?” she softly questioned.

Logan gave a soft smile. “I work with your husband,” he deceived with ease. Subsequently, he leaned up close to me and said, “Make her happy.”

I nodded, grateful for his comprehension. Before exiting the room, Logan took one more look at Isabel. I kept hearing his words. Fulfill her happiness. It seemed like a second shot, a new beginning.

I looked back to Isabel, who was observing me with a mixture of distrust and perplexity.

“How are you feeling?” I questioned quietly.

“I’m okay, a little disoriented,” she said. What took place?”

I brushed a strand of hair from her forehead and murmured, “We’ll talk about it later.” “Just take a nap right now. Here I am, beside you.”

She nodded and eased up, closed her eyes once again.

How should I proceed? Shall I be honest with her?
