Meghan Markle’s Birthday Controversy: Age & ‘Tacky’ At-Home Celebration Ignite Debate
Here’s Why Meghan Markle’s Birthday Sparks a Stir: Her Age & At-Home Celebration Called ‘So Tacky’
Some people find it disgusting that Meghan Markle celebrated her birthday at home recently. Others express outrage at her age, expressing surprise at the member of the royal family who is accustomed to criticism being so old.
The Duchess of Sussex turned four on August 4th, so happy belated birthday! A news source claims that Meghan Markle chose a low-key celebration, most likely having an intimate get-together at home with her closest loved ones. Despite the fact that her choice is probably cute, not many internet users appear to agree.
Meghan celebrated her birthday surrounded by the love of her husband, Prince Harry, their family, and a few of her closest friends, according to Grant Harold, the former royal butler of King Charles III. It was said that the Duke of Sussex had a backyard barbecue in honor of the occasion.
“He cooks well and with grace. In that sense, he is very outdated […] They do like having outside summer barbecues,” Grant said. He went on to say that Prince Harry will make sure his wife was honored on her special day.

Following their discovery of Meghan’s potential birthday celebration, social media users did not hesitate to voice their thoughts. Many were shocked to learn that Meghan was 43 years old.
“I didn’t realize she was in her 40s,” wrote a Facebook user. “How❤❓ many years is this woman going to be 43 years old 😳🙄,” another person asked.
“I thought she was in her 40’s when she got married…boy, time sure stands still when you’re having fun,” someone on X commented, echoing the surprise. “43😂😂50,” a Facebook user said.

One social media user said, “So tacky,” in reference to Meghan’s home celebration held at her and Prince Harry’s Montecito mansion. As someone else offered their interpretation of the events, X commented, “No one had a party for her.”
However, in the midst of the hate came an outpouring of appreciation. A fan declared, “This will be one of the most epic birthdays ever!” on August 4, 2024, the day the media outlet published a story on the birthday. Others added Prince Harry to the conversation, praising the pair and praising him as a fine husband.
“A really lovely pair! He’s infatuated with her!” exclaimed a Facebook fan. “Love [Meghan] and Harry… [Finally] they have a real life,” exclaimed a different fan.

Grant stated that Meghan would receive a birthday greeting from Prince William and Princess Catherine in addition to Prince Harry. Although there has long been animosity between the Windsor and Sussex royal families, Grant expressed confidence that Meghan will receive well-wishes from the Prince and Princess of Wales.
But, he continued, “Whether it be electronically, a phone call or a birthday card is hard to say with the ongoing rift.” Regarding King Charles III and Queen Camilla—with whom Prince Harry and Meghan are also at odds—Grant thought they would also offer their best wishes.
Additionally, I believe that because they are still family at the end of the day, they will overcome anything that has transpired. The former member of the royal staff revealed, “I don’t think that will change certainly despite everything that’s happened.”

Grant went on to say that there was even a possibility Meghan will get a special package from the palace.
“Given everything that has happened, they might not send a present either, but they might send one anyhow. Grant said, “I can imagine it would be something from the royal collection, probably a hand-me-down from the late Queen, if they were all still going strong.
He did, however, caution that Meghan shouldn’t hold her breath in hopes of hearing from the senior royal members directly via social media.

He made his estimate based on the fact that when Meghan turned 42 last year, the royal family did not publicly wish her a happy birthday.
What’s interesting, though, is that Meghan was publicly acknowledged on social media by Prince William, Princess Catherine, the King, and the Queen the year before.
The royal family has not yet posted a birthday greeting on social media in honor of Meghan, but time will tell if they do in the future. They don’t seem likely to do so, though, based on their recent actions of rejecting the Sussexes from a family custom.

A popular media outlet reported on August 2, two days before Meghan’s birthday, that King Charles III had left his second-born son and daughter-in-law off of the guest list for an event at Balmoral Castle.
The site claims that King Charles III is continuing his late mother’s custom of throwing a family reunion at the Scottish estate of Balmoral. Like the previous several years, Prince Harry and Meghan have not been included in the celebrations this year either.
Prince Harry’s inability to return to the place where he spent a significant amount of his formative years is an additional insult to injury. Moreover, it is stated in rumors that Meghan has never set foot on the 50,000-acre estate where Queen Elizabeth died in 2022.

The royal family uses the Scottish Highlands as an annual getaway to spend time hunting, fishing, and horseback riding away from the prying eyes of the public.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made the decision to renounce their royal positions in 2020 after establishing an independent life in Montecito, California, away from the monarchy. This contributed to the rift that developed between them and the other members of the royal family, resulting in tense relationships characterized by open wounds and retaliation.

The Sussexes have also had to undergo years of public abuse and cyberbullying, which has made them resilient. They are still worried, though, about the long-term effects of such on their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

In a recent interview, Meghan discussed it and said, “Our kids are young; they’re three and five years old. As parents, all you want to do is protect them.” We’re glad to be able to contribute to positive change, even if we recognize that there is still much work to be done in the online arena given what we can observe.”
