Shocking Revelation: Husband’s Harsh Ultimatum to Wife at Celebration
‘She’s on My Maintenance, I’ll Kick Her Out If She’s Not Obedient,’ My Husband Said About Me during His Celebration
When Abby loses her job, she turns to her spouse, Gregor, for support as she looks for a new one. Abby believes that Gregor will be encouraging, but when they celebrate his birthday with their closest friends and family, she learns the truth about his true feelings.

I don’t generally post details about my life online, but in light of the recent events, I felt it was appropriate to share my experience. Let me tell you all about the day my husband made an attempt to make me look bad in front of his friends and how, in the most satisfying way possible, I got back at him.
When I was in my forties, I met Gregor. I had long since given up on the idea of getting married, and I wasn’t searching for anything meaningful.
My mother urged me to hurry up, Abby. “There’s always time to find a partner. Don’t you just want to settle down and get married?”
I gave a headshake.
Though, to be honest, I did desire that, I was tired of thinking about it all after a bad relationship in my thirties. That was no longer what I wanted.

However, I later met Gregor, and we clicked immediately. He was endearing, considerate, and showed that he actually cared about me.
Gregor arrived to my house with a bunch of roses and an engagement ring hidden discreetly in his palm. “I’ve waited my entire life for you, Abby,” he murmured.
Our first year together seemed to be one continuous honeymoon. We really enjoyed each other’s company, laughed often, and traveled together.
We just appeared to belong together.
While I was advancing in my own career, Gregor was enjoying professional success as an executive at a reputable company. I was employed by a marketing company, and I had a great time there.

I felt like I had it all and life was good.
My mother told me, “I told you, Abby,” one day when I went to see her with dumpling ingredients.
“I know,” I said, laughing. “I ought to have paid attention. However, I’m content right now and believe I finally got it right.”
“Everything will work out,” my mom assured me. “As long as you’re happy.”
But then something unexpected happened.
My employer filed for bankruptcy, and I suddenly found myself unemployed.
It was devastating for my confidence as well as my wallet. Even though I was competent at my work, there was something about not being able to do it that left me feeling inadequate.

I sat at my desk for the very last time, telling myself, “It’s going to be okay,” Everyone had been summoned in to gather their possessions and bid adieu.
But I knew deep inside that Gregor was still there, even though I was proud of my independence and detested the thought of needing anybody else.
At first, Gregor seemed supportive when I told him the news. However, his genuine feelings soon became apparent.
“What? I’m going to be the family’s primary provider now? the sole provider of income?” He asked, a tinge of irritation in his voice.
I said, “It’s just for now.” “As soon as feasible, I’m going to begin my job search. But you’re going to be the one managing the house until I’m back on my feet. Alright?”
“Well, it’s not like I have a choice, right?” He rolled his eyes as he said.
“It won’t last long,” I assured them. “Just give me a few weeks and I’ll have another job ready to go.”

Although I was surprised by his response, I could understand his worries. Determined to find something new, I started looking for a job right away.
My words blurred as I sat down at my laptop and glanced at the screen.
“Come on, Abby,” I said to myself. “You must locate something. All you need is for the world to give you a break.”
I accepted a temporary position as a cleaner in a local restaurant while I looked for work. Although it wasn’t flashy, the job was sincere and kept us afloat.
Gregor remarked, “At least your boss is happy to give us food,” one evening as I was removing the remaining steak and vegetables from the restaurant.

“Yes, the manager would rather have food sent home for our families to enjoy rather than just throw it out,” I replied while slicing my steak.
“The food is good,” Gregor remarked. However, it’s not a good job for you at the same time. Our loved ones are accustomed to seeing you in elegant clothes, high heels, and with your hair and nails done. Abby, not black pants and an apron.”
“I acknowledge that,” I uttered. It’s not like I’ve accepted the job, though. I’m still actively trying to find work. This will sustain us until that day.”
Gregor ate some more, still grunting.
I was momentarily clueless about my husband’s identity. However, I wasn’t married to this man.
A few months later, Gregor celebrates his 45th birthday.
My spouse made the decision to host a lavish party for himself at a fancy restaurant, to which he invited all of his friends, relatives, and coworkers.

My mother tutted over the phone, “So, he can complain about looking after his wife, but he’s fine with spoiling everyone else for his birthday?”
“I don’t know what else to tell you, Mom,” I replied. It’s simply the way he is. However, I’m excited about this. I really want to relax and have fun since this is my first weekend off in a long time.”
“Darling, I know,” she remarked.
I’ll admit that I was looking forward to the evening, hoping we would have some downtime and quality time together away from the house.
“Happy birthday, my love,” I wished Gregor upon our arrival at the eatery.
I had given them a call in advance and requested that they arrange silver and black balloons around the table that Gregor had reserved.
The evening got off to a great start with lots of laughs, delicious food, and free beverages. As the night wore on, inebriated individuals started to share toasts.
Natalia, Gregor’s sister, was first.

She responded, “You’re lucky to have Abby in your life, brother,” while gesturing to her two champagne glasses. “She’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you.”
Her comments moved me, and I smiled, feeling grateful.
Tim, Gregor’s friend, went next and spoke about how nice it was to have Gregor at the office next door.
It was Gregor’s chance to speak at last.
With his glass of champagne in hand, he got up and laughed before he said anything.

He answered, “Oh, I know I’m lucky, Nat.” “Let’s face it, Abby is also fortunate! She is now essentially my dependent. If she wasn’t so obedient, I would have banned her long ago. It’s unfortunate that I spent so much money on her over the years.”
With a stutter, Gregor grabbed a shrimp from his plate.
My insides twisted more than they had ever twisted when the table became silent. Embarrassed barely scratches the surface of my feelings.
He was giggling, waiting for the others to follow suit. A few hesitantly laughed, unsure of what to say, but most folks just glanced about uncomfortable.
Gregor ate another shrimp before he burst out laughing for a long time.
He roared, “Come on guys, that was a killer joke!” while giggling.
But as I sat there, I felt like something clicked.
I made up my mind that I would not tolerate his actions. This conduct was poisonous.
I refused to let that return to my life.
I stood up calmly and inhaled deeply.

“Well, Gregor,” I replied. It appears that you are experiencing some forgetfulness. However, allow me to remind you of some investments I’ve made, as well as everyone else.”
As I replied, Gregor’s smug smirk gradually vanished from his face and all eyes turned to me.
“You see,” I commenced. “You’ve been busy investing while you’ve been investing in me. This opulent event was not financed by funds from your account.”
The room erupted in gasps.
“I noticed the alert,” I declared. You depleted my savings account. Do you not think I’m real? Right now, I can get the statement on my phone.”
“No…” said Gregor.

We were a team, so I was ready to overlook anything, but it appears that we’re not. I am aware that the money you withdrew was merely for the reservation; the remaining balance must be settled before we depart. Right?”
Gradually, Gregor nodded.
“That’s right,” he mumbled.
“And I have the money with me, right in my purse,” I replied. “I wanted you to have a good birthday, and I didn’t want you to pay for your own birthday dinner.”
I noticed the realization spreading across everyone’s features as I looked around the table.
“However, what do you know? I believe I’ll just hold onto it and my dignity.”

I quietly left the stage and the restaurant after that.
I had no interest in knowing how Gregor covered the cost of the meal. Rather, I returned home, loaded up my car with as many clothes as it could hold, and headed to my mother’s house.

I refused to remain in a poisonous relationship ever again.
How would you have responded in that situation?
