Mariska Hargitay’s Adopted Daughter, 13, Stuns in White Dress during Rare Appearance at the Paris Olympics
Amaya Josephine, the teenage daughter of Mariska Hargitay, was spotted hanging out with the gymnastics team that won the gold medal and even had a champion’s medal on display.

During the Olympics in Paris, renowned actress Mariska Hargitay made an uncommon appearance alongside her adoptive daughter, Amaya Josephine. The mother-daughter pair was watching the women’s gymnastics from a seat in the VIP area.
The two were excited as they applauded and cheered for Team USA. They honored Sunisa Lee’s bronze medal, Simone Biles’ gold medal, and Jordan Chiles’ gold medal.
Her husband Peter Hermann’s kids, August and Andrew, were also present for Hargitay, who was dressed casually in a black sweater top and white slacks.
13-year-old Amaya was photographed during the event interacting with gymnastics stars Chiles and Lee after winning. Amaya looked stunning in a white dress and handbag combo. Her necklace and bracelets added a subtle gold accent to her otherwise understated yet elegant ensemble.

Chiles’s crowning achievement was putting her gold medal around Amaya’s neck. Amaya is set to receive her medal from Chiles in one of the pictures that USA Gymnastics posted on Instagram.
She leaned forward a little and accepted the gold with a beaming expression. “✨ sharing her magic ✨ @jordanchiles had to make sure @therealmariskahargitay’s daughter had her own Gold-Medal-Moment!” the caption of the post said.
Heartwarmingly, Hargitay responded to the post with, “I have no words 🥹.” Subsequently, the actress posted a picture of Amaya alongside Lee and Chiles on her personal Instagram, expressing gratitude to @sunisalee and @jordanchiles for illuminating my darling daughter with their radiant, stunning, and Olympian light. A moment atop a mountain.”
Online discussion on Amaya’s Olympic photographs has been very active. The fact that Hargitay had an adoptive daughter piqued the interest of many.

A perceptive admirer remarked, “I had no idea she had an adoptive daughter. “I wonder if she wrote Noah’s adoption into the SVU storyline,” the person said, alluding to Hargitay’s character from “Law & Order: SVU.”
Some others were curious to find out more about Amaya; one even questioned, “Who is this little cutie???” Amaya’s sense of style won others over as well. A fan commented, “I adore this so much! And Amaya’s dress is AMAZING! There’s a ‘who’s terrified of tiny old me?’ vibe to it.”
“You were so right about Amaya’s style—I could really be best friends with her and rock matching outfits,” exclaimed a second enthusiast. She’s so beautiful 😍.” Another individual complimented Amaya’s hair, saying, “Love your daughter’s hair.”
The act of Hargitay taking her daughter to the Olympics was well-received by her fan base. A person said, “Whoa, whoa, whoa! Amazing and thrilling! An unforgettable experience that she will always cherish 🌺🇸🏅! Fantastic work, Mom! Xoxo [sic].”

Some expressed amazement at Amaya’s growth, writing things like “Aww, she’s grown so much 😍.” This seems like such a strange time! With her stunning smile, she looks just like you.”
Not to mention the sincere comments like “Awwww, your daughter looks so gorgeous and happy 😍❤️” and “What a beautiful kid,” which demonstrated how well-liked Amaya is.
The endearing tale of Hargitay’s daughter Amaya’s name was revealed in 2011. The actress and her spouse, Hermann, included every member of their family in the process of naming. At the time of Amaya’s adoption, Hargitay said, “everything is a family decision in our house.” Amaya had been adopted for just one week.

The June 2006 baby, August, who was 4 years old at the time, was also considered for the monickering. In the end, the family decided on the name Amaya Josephine, which is a play on Hargitay’s beloved Maya.
Hargitay disclosed that she was drawn to the name since it was a combination of August’s initials. “I wanted her to have the same initials as August,” she stated. “I thought adding the ‘A’ was so feminine,” the actress continued. It sounded so natural, feminine, and open—just like Amaya.”
For twenty years, Hargitay and Hermann have had a happy marriage, bolstered by the adoption of their two younger children. Andrew Nicolas was born to the couple four months after Amaya was adopted in 2011.

The mother of three said that she was surprised by Andrew’s adoption and called him a “angel that fell out of the sky.” After the loss of her real mother, Hargitay was raised by a stepmother, thus she is aware that families may form in a variety of ways other than via blood.

She has always felt that family is more than just biological ties, having grown up with half-siblings. Although they had not planned on having two more children, the decision to do so turned out to be a turning point in their marriage.

Hermann claimed that his affection for them has only grown as a result of their unique family growth path. He disclosed that, in contrast to his custom of keeping their children private, he and Hargitay only desired a larger family and are deeply grateful for it.
