Jennifer Garner’s Role in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Sparks Buzz: Age Debate and a Sly Joke About Her Ex
Jennifer Garner in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Is on Everyone’s Lips: ‘Too Old’ or ‘The Sexiest,’ Plus Joke about Ex
For her cameo in the newest “Deadpool & Wolverine” film, Jennifer Garner went all out, but not everyone appeared to value her efforts.

The “13 Going on 30” actress gave fans a behind-the-scenes peek at her training for her role as Elektra on Monday, August 5, 2024, via Instagram. She included a dynamic video in her post that demonstrates how she was “Marvel Fit” for the movie.
The video showed off Garner’s rigorous exercise schedule. It was an assembly of the strenuous workouts she had been performing for months.
It included boxing, swimming, water aerobics, weight training, cardio, and trampoline jumps. A full-fledged exercise montage!
Garner reminisced in her post about the day that director Shawn Levy and actor Ryan Reynolds proposed the idea of bringing back Elektra for “Deadpool 3.”
“I remember the moment @slevydirect and @vancityreynolds had the idea for Elektra Natchios to show up in @deadpoolmovie 3,” she wrote.
She said, “We were on the set of ‘The Adam Project,’ and they gave each other this look they have that can communicate an idea.” “There is a crazy artistic kismet between those two,” she continued.

For her battle scenes, Garner also spent hours honing her stunts. She admitted in the video that it had been twenty years since she had used Elektra’s sais.
“Other than trying to convince my kids’ preschool buddies that I was secretly a ninja, I hadn’t picked up Elektra’s sais since 2004; I was fit, but not @marvel fit,” she said.
Though Garner never felt Elektra “needed an ending,” she is appreciative of Reynolds and Levy for providing her with the opportunity to bring that chapter to a spectacular conclusion.
Reactions from internet users to Jennifer Garner’s video, which showed how hard she trained for her “Deadpool & Wolverine” cameo, have been varied. Many expressed dissatisfaction, claiming Garner was too sluggish for the part.
“She looks awkward and slow…she still got it?” said one reviewer. No, she is not a man. Someone another added, “And she was still the worst part of the movie.”

Garner’s efforts were deemed futile by others, who said, “Imagine going through all this trouble to come back for a role nobody asked for.”
Some, however, drew attention to her age, saying things like, “She’s in great shape but she’s too old for this character.” “All this training for five minutes of screen time?” someone other joked.
Some fans were amused by her performance in spite of the negative feedback. Some commented on her physical makeover, saying in jest, “This is why J-Lo and Ben are splitting up,” and in praise, “Her biceps were the sexiest thing in D&W.” Some others were amused.
She was dubbed “HOT” by others, and some even commented, “Wow,” believing her appearance to be so flawless that it had to be computer-generated imaging. She looked so fantastic that I honestly believed her physique had to be computer-generated imagery.”
In the 2003 movie “Daredevil,” Garner played Elektra alongside her now-ex-husband, Ben Affleck. During her recent cameo for “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Jennifer Garner cracks a joke on her almost ten-year marriage to Affleck.

Audiences were in giggles over The Joke about Affleck, which has grown to be one of the film’s highlights. “Her Daredevil comment in the movie was HILARIOUS, shoot the entire movie was HILARIOUS[sic],” commented a happy admirer of the passage.
“That jab at Jennifer Garner’s ex-husband Ben Affleck’s character Daredevil (in that universe) had me laughing out loud,” echoed another.
During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz’s “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, director Levy acknowledged that he did not obtain Affleck’s consent for the joke. “Affleck wasn’t given a heads-up about that line in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,'” Levy stated.
Levy did mention that he spoke with Affleck about another part of the movie. He clarified that the reason he spoke with Affleck afterwards was that there is a tribute video honoring the history of Fox Marvel films in the closing credits.

This gave rise to the chance to talk about the idea with all parties concerned, as getting their consent was both required and desirable. In his own words, “That joke was not, as far as I know, vetted by Ben.” But he continued, “We made clear to Jen — as we made clear to everyone — everything’s on the table in ‘Deadpool.'”
Garner recently shared a humorous behind-the-scenes video of herself making a smoothie on the movie set while decked up as her superhero persona on Instagram. “A great and filling way for all superheroes—cape-wearing or not—to start their day,” according to Garner, is the “Elektra Smoothie.”

In the video, Garner begins by filling a blender with one serving of protein powder, a cup of almond milk, fresh spinach, berries, a handful of ice, one tablespoon of chia seeds, ground flaxseed, and almond butter. Next, she purées everything until it’s smooth.
The high point? She uses Elektra’s go-to weapon, the Sai, to mix the smoothie and licks it clean before savoring her nutrient-dense, delectable “Elektra Smoothie.”

Garner’s lighthearted nod to her dedication is evident as she combines her signature Sai with her “Elektra Smoothie.” Her months of intense training demonstrate her love for the role, in spite of the criticism she has received online.
