‘SNL’ Star Chevy Chase Becomes First-Time Grandfather at 80 — Baby’s ‘Beautiful’ Name & Photo
Legendary comedian and “SNL” star Chevy Chase, 80, is embracing his most endearing role off-screen as a first-time grandfather—an experience that has left him speechless.
Famous comedian and “Community” star Chevy Chase, 80, has started a new chapter in his life: he is a grandfather. Emily Chase, his daughter, just posted the happy news on Instagram.
Emily shared a cute picture of her newborn baby Ivy Jay Baglieri’s little feet wrapped in a pink ribbon on Instagram, marking the first time the public saw the child. The shot was captioned with pride by her: “💕 Ivy Jay Baglieri 💕 08.01.2024.”
Thrilled by the news, Chevy reacted with a straightforward but sincere “❤️❤️❤️.” Online users swiftly responded to Emily’s statement with congrats.
“Amazing! Ivy Jay is very lovely. Congratulations! “We are thrilled for you both!” a follower said, expressing their conjecture. Cydney Chase, Emily’s sister, interjected, saying, “I’m Over the Moon [sic]!! 😍😍.” Chevy had been anticipating being a grandfather for months.

He posted a touching picture of himself with Emily and her partner, Alex Baglieri, back in March. Emily was pregnant at the time.
Chevy and Alex were seen in the photo holding Emily’s belly in their arms. “I can’t wait to be a Grandad!” At that moment, Chevy wrote, “Congrats to my daughter @em_chases and @alex.baglieri ❤️.”
Emily showed their delight for the new addition on Instagram the same month with a carousel of pictures. Pictures of Emily, Chevy, and Alex with their cute kitties were posted on the post.

The post also included Emilly’s mirror selfie, showing off her big bulge, Emily and Chevy’s lighthearted dance attempt, and a sonogram of the unborn child.
“We can’t wait to meet baby Bags this summer (but the cats can)!! ❤️,” Emily wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a picture of her burgeoning tummy in a patterned white blouse. Emily kept her fans informed as the pregnancy developed.
Emily posted a family portrait in May that included her mother Jayni and father Chevy. Emily, looking stunning in a floral dress, grinned at Chevy, who was wearing jeans and a blue shirt.
Jayni was standing next to her, dressed in a form-fitting garment. Their two dogs, who were not facing the camera, posed placidly beneath the trio. Emily posted the picture with the simple message, “🥰🥰🥰.”
This heartwarming family event aligns with Emily’s feelings from an interview she did in March 2024, when she talked about how much she admired her parents. “The funniest and most generous and loving person” she knew, that’s how she put her father, Chevy.
She also emphasized Chevy’s commitment to their family. “He has an enormous heart and does everything for us, his daughters, and our mother, with whom he has been deeply in love since 1980. We genuinely couldn’t ask for a more wonderful father,” Emily said.
Speaking of Jayni, Emily mentioned how important her mother’s passions were to her. “Her passion for environmental education, advocacy, and climate activism, was the chief motivator for me to seek out a career in my own niche of the environmental sector—wildlife conservation,” she explained.

As the Director of Board Engagement at the National Audubon Society in Goldens Bridge, New York, Emily puts her enthusiasm and knowledge to use. She maintains board members’ commitment to the organization’s goal of preserving birds and their habitats in this capacity.
Emily received her Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College and Columbia University, where she studied political science and government from 2007 to 2014. She also holds a degree in English. She went to The Lawrenceville School from 2003 to 2007 before that.

The assistant director of West Point Youth Sports and Fitness is Alex, her partner. He oversees youth sports initiatives, promoting youngster physical activity and well-being.
He attended Dutchess Community College from 2013 to 2015 and Tompkins Cortland Community College in 2016 to study Liberal Arts and Sciences. 2011 saw him graduate from Marlboro Central High School.
The strong relationship Emily and Alex have with Chevy Chase and Jayni endures as they balance their personal and professional life as a family of three.
Chevy’s happy transition into grandfatherhood has caused a stir, ushering in a promising new era for the adored comedian and his expanding family.
