My MIL Announced My Divorce on Facebook — But It Was All Part of Her Twisted Plot!
I Saw MIL’s Facebook Post Stating My Husband Was Divorcing Me — Turns out, It Was a Part of Her Evil Plan
Following an argument with her husband Charles, Jess offers him space to calm down at the home of his closest friend, promising that he’ll come back the following day so they can discuss. However, Jess discovers that Linda, Charles’ mother, has declared their divorce when she peruses social media. Is the narrative true, or did Jess overlook something?

One evening, my husband and I got into a heated argument. For us, it was uncommon but not unheard of. Since we were both impetuous people, there were moments when our feelings overruled our judgement.
To cut a long tale short, though, Charles stormed out of the house and went to his best friend’s house to spend the night. He called me to let me know he would be home the following day, and I could still see where he was.
Charles remarked, “I just need some time to cool off.” However, tomorrow I’ll be back home, so we can have a conversation. Alright?”
And with that, I knew that everything would work out.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” I replied.
With nothing to keep me busy but my thoughts, I made the decision to have an early night and take a bubble bath.
I said to myself, “May as well just take a personal night,” while the bathtub filled.
I made a huge batch of food the next day. I knew that when Charles arrived home, he would look forward to our meal together, no matter how upset he had been the day before.

I was lounging on the couch, looking through social media, waiting for him to get home, when my mother-in-law posted a post that completely blew my mind.
It had an extremely negative photo of me with the following text:
Let’s toast to fresh starts! I’m pleased to say that my son has broken up with this crazy gold digger. Charles is currently for sale again! If you’re a woman under 25, please message me so we can arrange a date.
My body began to churn and my heart began to race. I repeatedly read the words while hearing Linda’s voice in my thoughts.
Struggled to prevent my hands from shaking, I said, “This has to be a joke,” and dialled my mother-in-law’s phone.
“Hello?” she said in a pleasant, syrupy voice.
“Linda, what the hell is this?” My voice shaking with rage, I almost screamed while struggling to contain my tears.
“What are you talking about?” she enquired, either behaving really well or being utterly unaware.
“Your Facebook post!” I lost it.
“Oh, that,” was her response. “Has Charles not informed you yet? We both agreed that it would be best for you two to split up. You’re not the ideal person for my son, let’s face it, Jess. He needs to be loved and appreciated by someone.”

What did she keep bringing up?
“Doesn’t he deserve someone who values him? Do you mean similar to me? His spouse? The real woman that he wed?” I yelled.
As I paced my living room, I tried to take in all she had said.
Furthermore, why in the world would you share something like this on Facebook? This is quite embarrassing! What is the general consensus on this?
She uttered, “Well, Jess,” softly. “He called me last night and told me all about your fight.”
She hesitated, as though trying to think carefully before speaking.
“After hearing some of his unpleasant remarks, I decided it was time to act. My son is obviously tired of the circumstances. Just let him go, please. Be classy in this situation, Jess. Allow him to get to know someone new.”
I yelled, “Linda, you are just unbelievable,” and hung up before she could answer.
My thoughts were racing as I sat on the couch. Although my spouse and I had our share of issues, we were always able to resolve them.
Charles said to me, “Our marriage is everything to me,” following one of our arguments. “So, you need to believe me when I say that a few fights won’t break us.”

But how could Linda now believe that this kind of announcement belonged to her? How could Charles have allowed her to do it?
I wouldn’t be hurt in that way by Charles.
In the end, I curled up on the couch to slumber. I just needed my mind to shut down for a little while.
My spouse then returned home.
He came up to say, “Hey,” in a quiet voice.
“Hey?” I stood up and shoved my phone in his face, echoing what I had said. Please explain, Charles. “What is this?”
After reading the post, my spouse looked down and picked up the phone.
I knew Charles, and he would never have fabricated such a response.
“Oh my God, I… Jess, I didn’t know she did this,” he replied.

“You were unaware? Charles, genuinely? Our marriage ended, and your mother posted about it on Facebook! How could she possibly believe that would be alright?
“Look, I called her last night to vent,” he said, massaging his forehead.
“I made a lot of unintentional statements. I was really, you know, furious. However, I never declared my desire for a divorce. I said nothing about calling it quits on our union. Tonight, I was going to tell you everything.”
Charles, what did you say to her? Why did she believe you were seeking a divorce? I was so frustrated that I made a demand.
Embarrassed, he admitted, “I told her that we were fighting about money again.” “I told her I could take it no longer, that I was sick of the arguing. But I didn’t say I wanted to part ways with you. I was just letting things out.”
“Well, give the rest of the world an explanation,” I responded, passing him my phone.
I was unsure about how to feel. On the one hand, we talked about money all the time in our house. Finding well-paying jobs wasn’t always simple for me as a caterer. Charles was left with the financial burden most of the time, and he did make ends meet for the two of us.
However, I didn’t believe that things had gotten to the point where we were truly in danger of divorcing one another.

My spouse gave me a dejected face.
“Is it truly that awful? Is it too challenging? Should we think about divorcing each other?” My questions were flying out of my mouth as I asked him.
“No, Jess,” he firmly stated. “There’s nothing about divorce; we just need to talk about it and possibly adjust our way of life. It’s not what I desire. Do you agree?
I gave a headshake.
Charles let out a sigh and picked up his mother’s phone.
He said, “Mom, take down the post,” as soon as she responded.
“But Charles, I thought that—”
“No, you were mistaken,” he cut you off. “A brawl broke out between us. That does not imply that our marriage is coming to an end. Take it down right now.”
Before he hung up, I heard her sputtering on the other end. With sadness on his face, he turned to face me.
“I’m really sorry, Jess,” he apologised. “I never meant for her to take it to such lengths.”

“Sorry?” I questioned as tears started to run down my cheeks. “Can you imagine how embarrassing this is for me? Most likely, everyone we’ve ever known believes that we are divorcing at this point. And why? since your mother want to locate you with another person?”
Charles cast a downward glance, his features marked with shame.
“I am aware. I’ll also put this correct. I swear.”
He extended his hand to grasp my hand and gave it a light squeeze.
“Look, since everyone thinks that we’re getting divorced now anyway, let’s renew our vows, Jess.”
“What?” With a mix of surprise and laughter, I asked.
With a “look, darling,” he spoke. “I am aware that our arguments over money are repetitive and draining. But as always, we can discuss it. And I believe your proposal for a culinary school is ideal. To pay for it, sweetheart, I’m going to rearrange a little money.”
I’d wanted to go to culinary school for a very long time.
“Jess, it will lead to opportunities for you. There will be an abundance of opportunities.”

I got married to this man. not the shady character Linda painted him as. A man who would let his mother set up dates for him and post on social media about their divorce.
“Yes,” I said. “Maybe a vow renewal is exactly what we need.”
Charles and I organised a little ceremony with just our siblings and my parents in the coming weeks. Linda was not given a pass. It was arguably the most therapeutic thing we could have done for ourselves, and we did it in our backyard.

Charles remarked, “We just needed to be reminded of who we are,” as we divided the cake that I had baked. “We’re stronger together, Jess.”
Admittedly, seeing Linda makes my blood boil, but at least I know that Charles and I are on the same page. And now that we communicate so much better. I’ve started culinary school and take part-time jobs at a hip café.
We will be successful.
How would you have responded in that situation?
