Kind Stranger Helps Mom with Stroller, Surprised by an Unexpected Gift the Next Day
When a wheel on a single mother’s baby stroller breaks, an older man steps in to save her. A few days later, he is traveling to a tropical destination aboard a private plane.
Joseph Benjamin didn’t dream much. The seventy-two-year-old widowed father of two was aware of what life would bring him each day. When the light came up, he rode his bike to the bakery to get some fresh rolls.

After that, he would ride his bike back, eat breakfast, tidy up some tasks, and bide his time till lunch. In the afternoons, he wandered around his tiny workshop and experimented with his creations until supper, at which point he went to bed. Before he met April and Emma, his life was the same.
As Joe was biking to the bakery that day, he spotted a young woman dressed in a grey tracksuit struggling with an old-fashioned, cumbersome stroller.
The infant wailed in protest inside the unbalanced stroller, and the mom appeared to be attempting to put it back into place after one of the wheels came off.
“I’m sorry,” Joe murmured softly. “Do you need help?”
Joe noticed tears in the woman’s eyes as she looked up. “Yes,” she replied. “I think I do!” Then she began to cry, much to Joe’s dismay.
A good deed can transform your life.

Joe responded, “Please don’t cry,” and gave the woman a clumsy shoulder pat. “We’ll soon have everything fixed up good as new!”
“I’m so stupid,” the woman cried while crying. “I should never have brought this old stroller out, but… It was mine when I was a baby, you see…”
“That’s nice!” Joe uttered those words. “I saved up all my children’s old toys, and my grandkids love them!”
“Yes!” the woman replied with a smile. “I still have all my old children’s books and toys, too! But the stroller didn’t seem all that unstable to me.” She added that being in the attic of her parents’ old house had made her feel nostalgic.
Joe remarked, “Let’s see what we can do,” He knelt by the pram and grabbed his little tool kit from the bike’s panniers. “Aha! It isn’t damaged! It popped out because one of the lugnuts is loose.
The wheel might give a little jolt when it snaps back into place, so you’d better take the baby out, Joe stated after tinkering with it for a while.
As Joe securely pushed the wheel back into place, the woman anxiously watched while holding the baby in her arms. “There we go,” Joe said. “All set and ready to go!”
The mom was holding her infant and grinning broadly. “Thank you,” she angrily said. “You are a shining example of a knight! My first day back in Cheyenne would have been a complete bust but for you!”
Joe inquired, “Where were you living?”
“I went to college in California,” the woman stated.

“You’re fortunate since I’ve never traveled anyplace, including California! I had never laid eyes on the ocean. Joe said.
“California is lovely,” exclaimed the woman. “But I want my daughter to grow up in my old home.”
“I wish my kids felt the same,” Joe murmured. “I occasionally miss seeing them and the grandchildren for years at a time. What is the name of your young girl?
“Emma,” said the woman. “And I’m April!”
He said, “I’m Joe,” and shook her hand. “Your parents are lucky!”
April’s eyes began to well up with tears once more. She said, “They passed away a year ago,” “And I miss them so much!”
“Listen, April,” said Joe. “How about you and Emma have coffee with an old man?”
Right across the street, Joe brought April and Emma to his favorite coffee shop. While the adults chatted, Emma lay in her stroller, happily playing with her toes.
“Hey Joe,” said April. “Emma and I are going on a little trip tomorrow, so how about you join us?”
April had arranged to pick Joe up early the next morning, and when he accepted, she followed through. At the agreed time, Joe was on the porch, ready, when a stylish black sedan with a chauffeur pulled up in front of his house. To his surprise, the car belonged to April.
Stunned, Joe blurted out, “Wow! What a car! But where are we going?”

April smiled, wearing a large hat. “It’s a surprise!” And what an unexpected discovery it was. They drove straight onto the tarmac at the airport.
“Come on, Joe,” April urged. “Get out!” Joe stepped out of the car, and as soon as he spotted a sleek, luxurious private jet moving in their direction, a wave of fear washed over him like never before.
“What’s going on?” Joe sobbed in terror.
April said, “We’re going to the beach,” beaming broadly. “You’re going to see the ocean!”
Joe got on the plane. It seemed unbelievable to him! He exclaimed, “Me, flying!” “Looking at the sea! It’s unbelievable!”
When April said, “I wanted to surprise you,” Since YOU were a delightful surprise. Joe, very few people take the time to stop and assist a distressed mother. You deserve great things since you’re a gentleman.
April always had a plane on call because, as it turned out, she had inherited a private jet charter business from her parents. Since then, Joe has been a regular visitor throughout April’s vacations and holidays, and he is also a grandfather to Emma, who is quite young.
What does this narrative teach us?

The greatest amazing surprises can come from life. Joe was mistaken to believe he understood what life would hold for him. At seventy-two, he became a frequent flyer and a surrogate grandfather!
A good deed can transform your life. Joe never dreamed she was a millionaire who would fulfill his ambition of visiting the ocean when he rescued the young mother.
