Our Dog Kept Barking at the Thanksgiving Turkey — What I Found Made Me Call the Police
Our Dog Wouldn’t Stop Barking at the Thanksgiving Turkey — When I Finally Checked It, I Called the Police
One Thanksgiving, our dog, Max, refused to stop barking at the turkey that my husband had just picked up, which caused the situation to become much more chaotic than normal. I was under the impression that the dog was interested in consuming a portion of the food, but as I removed the plastic covering, I realised that Max was trying to warn me to something that required me to contact for assistance right away.

Even though my name is Athena, everyone nicknames me Ace. In addition to being a dog mum and a wife, I am 32 years old and, as of the Thanksgiving before last, I am the unintentional star of a criminal drama. Okay, that’s not exactly what I had in mind at the time, but that’s what came to mind.
On the morning of Thanksgiving, everything began. Kyle, my husband, offered to pick up the turkey that we had pre-ordered from the organic butcher shop in the neighbourhood so that I could concentrate on the commotion that was occurring in the kitchen. Before he left, he exclaimed, “I’ll be back soon!” with the same upbeat attitude as always.
As “soon” developed into more than an hour, I should have understood that something was wrong with the situation.
After a long absence, Kyle appeared to be in a state of exhaustion. He appeared to be smiling artificially, and his hair was messier than it normally is.
It was longer than I had anticipated. Had to go to three different locations and assist my mother with something. “However, everything is fine,” he answered, trying to catch his breath.
On the other hand, his phone rang before I could enquire about the specifics of what had transpired. Excellent. In the midst of the road, the car that belonged to Mom broke down. I have to go and assist her, and it’s likely that I’ll be driving her here. It was then that he left the house once more, just like that.

And even for Kyle, that was strange, but I didn’t have time to linger on it because I was busy. Thanksgiving was a holiday with no breaks.
During the time that I was preoccupied with pies and side dishes, Max began to lose his mind. His customary excitement on Thanksgiving stems from the fact that he is aware that he would receive some leftovers, but this Thanksgiving was different.
He was acting like a crazed individual as he stood in front of the counter where the turkey was sitting and yelled his head off.
Please, Max, stop! My gentle reprimand to him was, “You are not going to get raw turkey,” but he did not seem to care. He continued to walk around, bark, and jump up and down as if he was attempting to get his hands on the turkey.
“Seriously?” My hands were wiped with a dish towel as I said something. So, friend, what exactly is your deal? Although I am aware that you enjoy this holiday, this is not typical of you.

It took me twenty minutes of unrelenting barking before I finally gave in. “That’s fine. It would be nice to take a look at this turkey, but I won’t be giving you any of it. My canine companion continued to stare at me with his big, beautiful eyes and let out another yelp.
After heaving a sigh, I reached for some kitchen scissors and proceeded to remove the plastic covering from the turkey. At initially, there was no cause for concern; nonetheless, Max continued to bark and complain.
“The boy, no. This is in its basic form. The fact that you are not accustomed to a raw diet means that you are not getting anything,” I repeated to him, and I even lifted the turkey to show him, making sure that he was unable to reach it.
While I was moving it, however, I observed that more plastic was seeping out of its… well, butt. I hadn’t specifically requested that it be pre-stuffed. That being the case, I placed it down and reached inside, only to discover a plastic bag containing money inside of it. hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash.
Max began to bark at the bag, and he completely forgot about the turkey in the process. So, it was his objective from the beginning!

“What the—?” I mumbled something as I stared at the bird, completely perplexed. Why was there money packed within the turkey? Was Kyle aware of this information? Was it ever ours to begin with? Could it be that the butcher shop sent the incorrect one?
Something was going on in this location? Is it possible that we were participating in any kind of illicit conduct without our knowledge?
The fact that Max continued to yell at the bag of cash caused me to become frightened for some bizarre reason. Our dog had never been trained in any capacity, either as a police dog or any other kind of dog. But it’s possible that he smelt something that I couldn’t.
So I grabbed my phone and dialled the number for the cops. I said, “Hello, I need to report something… strange,” knowing that they would think I was crazy. “I need to report something…”
On the other hand, they listened and assured us that they would dispatch some officers very soon. The possibility that I was disrupting their Thanksgiving made me feel completely terrible. However, I had to make sure that I was safe.

During the time that I was waiting for them to arrive, Max sat by my side, his tail wagging as if he had accomplished a lot.
The first person to enter was Officer Johnson, a veteran who appeared to have witnessed everything that had ever happened. Officer Miller, a younger rookie with wide-eyed eyes who appeared to be overwhelmed before he even entered my kitchen, swiftly followed him. He appeared to be overwhelmed.
“Ma’am, can you show us what you found?” “Are you as cool as a cucumber?” Officer Johnson enquired.
They followed me to the turkey, which was still sitting on the counter, and I placed the bag containing the cash right next to it. It was then that I said, “I… I don’t even know what to say.”
With his eyes wide open, Officer Miller leaned in closer. “That’s… uh, that’s a lot of money,” he remarked in response.
Officer Johnson murmured under his breath, “Yeah, thanks, Officer Obvious,” before turning his attention back to me. “Where did you get this turkey?”
“My husband picked it up this morning from our butcher shop, just like every year,” I said to him. At this moment, he is not at home. “He went to assist his mother with something,” he said.
There was a raised eyebrow from Officer Johnson. “Convenient.”

Immediately prior to my ability to defend Kyle, the front door opened, and he entered the room accompanied by his mother, Ruth. As soon as he noticed the police officers in our kitchen, his face became white.
“Uh… what’s going on?” Clearing his throat, Kyle posed the question.
This is the information that we would want to have,” Officer Johnson stated.
I made a gesture towards the counter. The turkey that we had was actually stuffed with a bag of cash, Kyle! Do you know this? Is there something that is taking place?”
The eyes of Kyle opened, but he did not speak at that moment.

Before he began speaking, Officer Johnson made sure to straighten his shoulders. Behold, my son. It is imperative that we find out the truth since this is one of the most peculiar examples of smuggling that I have ever witnessed,” he cautioned him.
During the time that his eyes were darting between us and the turkey, my husband began to bite his lip. In an abrupt manner, Ruth gave him a harsh push. When he finally spoke up, he said, “Okay, okay!” I am the owner. It is all mine to handle.”
“What is it? “What is the point of putting it inside of a turkey?” I enquired about it.
Despite his ever-present appearance of embarrassment, Kyle ran his hand through his hair.
According to him, “I was trying to surprise you, Ace,” he groaned heavily. It was yesterday that I used my funds to pay for a trip to Hawaii for my family and I. However, I forgot to take the money out of my car, and I didn’t realise it until today, when I was picking up the turkey. So, because I didn’t want you to find out about the surprise too soon… I hid the money inside of the turkey bird. When I was thinking about it, it seemed like a decent idea.
“That’s…” I was at a loss for words.

Ruth added her two cents. Ace, I am able to vouch for the fact that he is sharing the truth. After telling me that he had finally accomplished his objective for the trip, he withdrawn money from his account. The fact that he tucked the money into the turkey, however, he did not inform me!
After giving her kid another nudge, she glanced at him with a sharp expression. This one was more unpleasant.
At long last, I discovered my voice. “Kyle! ” If I had forgotten to take the money into consideration before placing the turkey in the oven, what would you have done? Don’t forget that I’m the one who’s cooking here!
Kyle rubbed the back of his head with his finger. “I didn’t think of that,” he mumbled, showing a sign of modesty.
I couldn’t believe it, but Officer Johnson’s loud laughter was the moment that broke the incredible tension that had been building up.
“Son, I’ve seen pretty much all there is to see, but concealing money in poultry? During the intervals of laughter, he sputtered, “That’s a first.”

Before asking, “Uh, should we… dust it for fingerprints?” Officer Miller stared first at his boss and then at the turkey until he finally asked the question.
“The receipt for the withdrawal is in my possession,” Kyle disclosed as he reached into his pocket. This is it! This was a very astute move on his part!
It was taken by Officer Johnson, who then verified that the amount on the receipt and the amount in the bag were same. After that, both officers left, and they continued to find the entire situation to be humorous.
As soon as I shut the door behind them, I immediately hid my face in complete and utter humiliation. Frustrated, I turned to my husband and shook my head before crossing my arms and turning my back on him. “Kyle! ” That was a very humiliating situation. What a crazy sound you made!
Ruth remarked, “Stupid is more like it,” as she settled herself down on the couch.

His shoulders were bent forward. “I went into a panic! In order to maintain the element of surprise, I made sure that the turkey was right there.
I uttered those words, “It could have caught fire in the oven,” as I was in a state of panic as other possibilities entered my head. Imagine that the entire house had been destroyed by fire as a direct result of this cash.
How would you feel if Max hadn’t yelled at it? What if I had chosen to disregard it? Additionally, did I marry a complete moron?
It appeared as though Kyle was always in a hurry or running behind schedule, and he was a quirky person. He had a tendency to be reckless and forgetful. But this particular occurrence was the cherry on top.
This is the truth, Kyle,” Ruth continued. “You’re lucky if Ace doesn’t divorce you after this.”
I huffed, and he stared at me with eyes that were like those of a puppy. However, I was not affected by that gaze. If Max’s adorableness was not enough to convince me to give him additional treats, then my spouse would not be able to either.

Despite this, I let out a deep breath, and a little chuckle came out of my mouth. I hushed “You’re unbelievable,” while shaking my head and smiling despite the fact that I was feeling uncomfortable. “But I guess your heart was in the right place.”
Kyle smiled at me in a way that was both toothy and goofy, and then we moved on from that episode.
Later that evening, we had a Thanksgiving that we will never forget, and we found ourselves laughing as we told the rest of the family about what Kyle had done.

Despite the fact that my husband had to put up with the humorous mocking from his relatives, our hero, Max, was rewarded with additional turkey leftovers for his efforts.
We went on the trip to Hawaii, of course, after some time had passed. I am looking forward to telling my child that he was born because his father stuffed a turkey with money. That is the place where we conceived our child, and I am excited to tell him that.
Nevertheless, I will have to wait for that for a number of years. In any case, take heed of your canine companions! However, there are instances when they are not only seeking for rewards! Good luck on Thanksgiving!
