Three Neighbors Discover They’re Engaged to the Same Man—Only One Claims His $8.3M Fortune
At his funeral, three women discovered they were all engaged to the same con artist, but only one ended up inheriting his $8.3 million fortune.
Bart Garrow was a charismatic man with a knack for charming older women. With just the right words and gestures, he made them believe they had finally found their perfect match. These women began to dream of a life with “Mr. Right,” but Bart was anything but.
In reality, Bart was a manipulative scammer who justified his actions by dismissing his victims as naive. “They need to wake up and face reality,” he thought smugly. “As if anyone could truly fall in love with them.”
Bart’s skills as a con artist were exceptional, allowing him to amass a fortune of over $8 million. Yet, he had no intention of stopping. He took perverse pleasure in deceiving people and shattering their hopes.
Bold and calculating, Bart thrived on challenges. His latest scheme targeted three women who lived on the same street, and for him, it was more than just a con—it was a test of his cunning.

Before setting his sights on their neighbor Clara Funcinno, Bart Garrow had already pulled off two successful cons. He swindled $300,000 from Frannie Karl and then moved on to her neighbor, Tessa Williams, managing to steal an additional $430,000.
But even the cleverest schemes eventually catch up to their mastermind.
When Bart discovered that Clara, a 56-year-old widow, had a substantial insurance payout from her late husband’s passing, he wasted no time. He approached her at the gym, charming her with his polished demeanor. Over the next six weeks, Bart showered Clara with affection—sending her heartfelt letters, extravagant bouquets, and treating her to nights of fine dining and dancing at the city’s most luxurious venues.
It was as like someone had finally noticed Clara in all her complexity, strength, and fragility, and she felt like the most loved woman in the world. She consequently fell in love.
She didn’t even think twice about accepting Bart’s marriage proposal two months after they first met. Yes, Clara responded, and she wore the enormous diamond Bart had given her with pride.
The couple began organizing their wedding. “I know you were married once, Clara, but I wasn’t,” Bart responded. I want you to dress in white for my large wedding.

Clara reddened. It made her gasp, “Oh Bart!” “At my age! Young females, white is for virgin brides.
“I think I won your virgin heart, Clara,” Bart said, kissing her hand. Have you ever loved someone as much as you love me, please? since I am aware that I have never felt the same way about anyone as I do for you.”
Clara naturally went shopping for a stunning wedding gown and couldn’t stop crying whenever Bart played “White Lace and Promises” for her. Bart struck while Clara was feeling really romantic.
He took her up for a picnic one Friday afternoon, but he wasn’t feeling really like himself. He was aloof and preoccupied. Concerned, Clara said, “Darling, what’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing, my sweet,” Bart beamingly remarked. “It’s just business, nothing to worry your pretty head about.”
Clara “You know,” she said. “My degree is an MBA! I could possibly be of assistance.
“Clara, the thing is, I’ve been offered the possibility of buying into a new company and it might be the deal of a lifetime,” Bart remarked with sadness. Regretfully, my funds are locked up in a six-month tax deposit that my financial manager fabricated. Therefore, I will have to miss the chance.”
Clara inquired, “How much is it, Bart?”
In Bart’s words, “Two hundred thousand dollars,” “Quite a chunk of cash.”

“But Bart,” exclaimed Clara. “I can lend you the money!”
“No, Clara,” Bart firmly stated. “I won’t take a dime from you! What if there is a problem? “Never, never!” Clara persisted, though, and Bart eventually gave in—albeit with a caveat—after acting extremely reluctantly.
“Clara,” he began, “we’ll go to my bank,” “And I’ll give you the transfer code, so if anything goes wrong you know you’ll get your money back!”
After taking Clara to the bank, Bart gave her the code after displaying the printout of his $8.3 million account. Clara then cheerfully sent Bart a $200,000 check.
“Babe,” Bart whispered, his eyes welling with sorrow. “You have my undying love! I’ll take you out to dinner tonight at 20:00, and I’m heading straight to the broker with this. Put on something unique.
Clara waited excitedly until 20:00 that evening after getting all dolled up and wearing Bart’s favorite perfume. Naturally, Bart did not appear. Clara’s anxiety was overwhelming. What might have become of him?
She called him multiple times, but each time the calls ended up in voice mail. Clara was in ruins by Saturday morning. She was certain that Bart had been in an accident and was in a hospital somewhere.
At last, Bart picked up the phone. He snapped icily, “Yes?” “What is it?”
“Bart!” Clara exclaimed. “I’m glad you’re okay! I’ve been really anxious.
“Listen you old bag, stop calling me, OK?” he responded. “We’re done. You’ve given me what I desired.”

“What?” Clara said in confusion. “Bart, I think you must be ill…”
“The truth is, I’m tired of you!” he yelled. “Are you so stupid you don’t know you’ve been conned?” After saying that, he ended the call. Clara discovered she had been blocked when she attempted to call again.
Bart grinned. Clara, with her kind heart and soft smile, had been so annoying, and he got just as much pleasure from hurting the women as he did from stealing their money. Bart emerged from his building glowing with contentment.
One more scam, perhaps, and he was ready to settle down now. Bart was still grinning when he was struck by a speeding taxi as he went out into the street. He could not be saved. He had left. The police also got in touch with Clara because he had designated her at his bank as next of kin.
Clara gasped! Bart was dead an hour after he had crushed her heart! It seemed as though Karma had intervened. “The bank…” Clara gasped. He wouldn’t have had time to cancel the code he’d given her!
So Clara contacted a funeral home and organized everything for a modest funeral for the late unlamented Bart. Monday morning, bright and early, Clara was at the bank and she transferred the entire $8.3 million to her bank account.
Bart’s funeral wasn’t well attended, except for two other women Clara recognized from the neighborhood. Then Clara noticed that they were wearing engagement rings that were exactly like hers!
“How much did he take you ladies for?” Clara inquired.
Tessa took a whiff. “He took $430,000… All I had.”
Frannie let out a sigh. It was $300,000 with me! Everything I’ve saved. “I’ll be having trouble,” she remarked. “What about the diamond? It’s glass! He did us a good job.

Clara smiled. She exclaimed, “No he didn’t!” “Karma got him! I received the full $8.3 million after he passed away before he could delete the withdrawal code he provided me.
Clara divided the money with Frannie and Tessa, and a week later, Bart arranged for the three women to take a vacation to the Bahamas!
What does this narrative teach us?

Leave as soon as a lover or boyfriend brings up money! Tessa, Clara, and Frannie were duped by the oldest trick in the book. Keep love and money apart.
The bill for malice will eventually be payable. Karma abruptly put a stop to Bart’s career, which was all about deceiving women and shattering their hearts.
