Boy Says He’s Not Alone at Night, So Mom Installs Camera – What She Finds Will Amaze You
At night, a scared youngster alerts his mother to the presence of someone in his room. Until she installs a security camera and discovers something shocking, she doesn’t believe him.

Christopher Corbin squeezed his hands tightly over his ears and buried himself under the blankets, as if shutting out the world could keep him safe. He convinced himself—or desperately hoped—that as long as he couldn’t see or hear it, the monster lurking nearby couldn’t reach him.
Lately, the creature seemed to grow bolder, and Christopher feared it was only a matter of time before its sharp claws dragged him away into its dark lair. If that happened, he thought, his mother would never be able to find him, and he’d be lost forever.
Lacey Corbin watched her seven-year-old son with concern. Normally a lively and talkative boy, Christopher sat unusually quiet at the breakfast table, pushing his cereal around instead of eating it. Something was clearly troubling him.
According to her, “Chris, honey,” “What’s going on?”

There are instances when the seemingly impossible is actually true.
Chris responded, “Nothing…” but Lacey could tell he wasn’t telling the truth by the way he averted his gaze.
Lacey gently sat down beside Chris, wrapping a comforting arm around his small shoulders. “What’s bothering you, sweetheart?” she asked softly. “You seem a little down. Please, tell me what’s on your mind.”
Chris glanced up at her with a sad expression, his voice barely above a whisper. “You’re not going to believe me,” he said hesitantly, his eyes full of doubt.
Lacey leaned in, her tone calm but firm. “I promise I will,” she assured him, drawing an invisible X over her chest. “Cross my heart.”
Chris murmured, “There’s a monster in my room,” into her ear. “He spends the night wandering around and eating in the kitchen, and he lives in my closet. However, I believe he will eventually eat me.
At first, Lacey was about to laugh, but then she noticed the shadowy darkness behind her son’s terrified eyes. For Chris, it was real, even though it was just dream. According to Lacey, “OK, honey,” “I’ll put in a night light to frighten the monster.”

Chris appeared to be happier. He questioned, “You think that will work?”
“Yes, of course,” replied Lacey. “When exposed to light, closet monsters melt. You’ll see.
But Chris was just as terrified the following morning. “Mom, I nearly saw him!” Chris broke down in tears. “The night light allowed me to see his shadow through the blankets. “Mom, he didn’t melt!”
“Listen, Chris,” said Lacey. “I’ll capture your monster. Do you recall the nanny cam mom you had as a child?
Chris said, “The one that looks like a teddy bear?”
“Of course,” Lacey agreed. “I’ll set up a camera in your room tonight, and it will record anyone who comes in. We’ll catch the monster if it shows up.”
Deep down, Lacey didn’t believe the camera would capture anything unusual, let alone a monster. She just wanted to ease her son’s worries. The next morning, after setting up the camera as promised, Lacey sat down with Chris to review the footage over breakfast.

Her jaw dropped. A tiny figure darted out of Chris’s room as the closet door slid open in the black and white footage. Something was concealed in Chris’s closet!
Lacey sprang to her feet and ran upstairs. She put the toy boxes aside and opened the closet door. A young boy roughly Chris’s age was curled up in a ball right in the back.
When Lacey spotted him, the boy burst into tears, and she gently helped him out. “Hi there,” she said softly. “I’m Lacey. What’s your name?”
“I’m Victor,” the boy replied, his voice shaky.

“Well, Victor,” Lacey said kindly, “how about coming downstairs with us for some breakfast? Christopher thought you were a monster hiding in the closet!”
Chris was startled when his mom brought the boy down, but relief washed over him when he realized Victor wasn’t a monster and certainly didn’t want to harm him.
Victor explained to Lacey that he had attended Chris’ seventh birthday party a couple of weeks ago with a friend and decided to stay because he felt so comfortable with their family.
“But what about your mom?” Lacey asked gently. “Won’t she be worried about you?”
Victor shook his head sadly. “No,” he said. “My mom passed away. My dad’s wife, Marga, doesn’t like me. Please don’t make me go back there.”

Naturally, though, Lacey had to take Victor home. As soon as she saw how his stepmother hauled him inside by the arm, she knew he was telling the truth.
It was “Stupid boy!” she cried. “No dinner for you!” They had assumed Victor was with a friend, the woman explained, giving Lacey a sweet grin. However, Lacey noticed as the woman pressed her fingernails into Victor’s shoulder.
After going straight from Victor’s house to the police, she returned an hour later with two officers and a social worker. They exposed Victor’s parents’ abuse of their kid.

The social worker granted Victor permission to remain at Lacey’s residence (in the extra bedroom this time) at her request. Victor was permitted to remain when the court sentenced his parents to prison. Victor became Chris’s brother and greatest friend after Lacey asked to adopt him as soon as possible.
What does this narrative teach us?
There are instances when the seemingly impossible is actually true. The’monster’ in the closet was real, but Lacey believed her son was dreaming!
Every child is entitled to unconditional affection. The love that Victor never experienced from his father and stepmother, the same love that Lacey gave Chris, was extended to him.
