Prince William Faces Hostile Chants from Fans During Recent Match Appearance
Prince William suffers abuse as four-word chant is hurled at him during latest appearance
Some football supporters directed slogans against the Royal Family and even showed contempt toward the late Queen Elizabeth II while they jeered at Prince William during his recent appearance at a match. Another group of football fans jeered at Prince William.

The Prince of Wales, who has been a devoted fan of football for his whole life and has been a supporter of Aston Villa for his entire life, was present at the Champions League match between Aston Villa and Celtic on January 29. The presence of his opponents, on the other hand, was met with animosity from their fans.
Over the past few years, Prince William has frequently been seen attending major football matches, and he has occasionally been joined by his children. It is well knowledge that he is a fan of Aston Villa, and he has communicated his enthusiasm for the sport in a clear and concise manner.
In spite of the fact that Villa supporters normally see the Prince as their most prominent royal fan, opposing teams have on occasion taken advantage of his presence in order to make fun of him.
In the course of the match that took place on Wednesday evening, Celtic supporters did not waste any time in directing jeers and taunts on the Prince of Wales.
Among the cries that were heard were “Lizzie’s in a box,” which was a reference to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and “If you hate the Royal Family, clap your hands.
” Additionally, fans erected banners that some people considered to be offensive. One of these banners paid honor to Michael Fagan, the guy who is notorious for breaking into the bedroom of the Queen at Buckingham Palace just a few days after Prince William was born.

Despite the taunting, Prince William remained unconcerned and focused on celebrating Aston Villa’s excellent 4-2 victory.
He appeared to be enjoying himself. It was the home fans who replied to the jeering by attempting to drown out the noise by chanting the national anthem and by waving Union Flags in an effort to demonstrate their support for the Prince.
At a football game, Celtic supporters have shown anti-monarchy sentiments on multiple occasions, and this is not the first time they have done so. During a Champions League encounter in October 2022, Celtic supporters displayed banners that contained aggressive remarks against the monarchy.
These banners were revealed less than a week after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. “F**k the crown” was written on one of the banners, and another banner made a reference to Michael Fagan by stating, “Sorry for your loss, Michael Fagan.”

Michael Fagan gained widespread recognition following his successful break-in at Buckingham Palace in 1982, during which he was able to sneak inside the Queen’s bedroom without being discovered.
There are reports that indicate that the Queen initially mistook him for a member of the staff who was under the influence of alcohol before she realized the gravity of the situation.
Before he was taken into custody by a duty footman, he allegedly engaged in a conversation with her for almost 10 minutes, during which he discussed his personal affairs.
Trespassing was only regarded a civil infraction at the time, thus Fagan, who had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, was not charged with the crime since it was deemed a civil misdemeanor. Instead, he was charged with burglary for allegedly stealing a bottle of wine from the grounds of the palace.

The most recent incident that took place at Villa Park sheds light on the persistent issues that exist between individuals within the football community and the monarchy of the United Kingdom.
Despite the fact that Prince William’s commitment to football is unquestionable, his appearance at matches is sometimes met with a range of reactions, particularly with teams that have strong political and historical sentiments. However, his supporters continue to be unwavering and diligent in their efforts to ensure that their views are heard despite any opposition.
In spite of the issue, Prince William continued to show his unshakable support for his squad while participating in the match for his team. In spite of the fact that fans of the opposing team were trying to divert his attention with their jeers, the Prince had plenty of reasons to celebrate after Aston Villa secured a huge victory.
The fact that he was able to remain calm and collected in the face of the circumstance was evidence of his capacity to ignore the distractions and concentrate on his passion for football.
Given that Prince William is the head of the Football Association and a prominent figure in British sports, it is highly likely that he will continue to attend football events.
When it comes to his public life, his steadfast devotion for the game and his team continues to be a defining characteristic, despite the fact that there may be instances of antagonism from some fan groups.
