Trump Signs New Executive Order on Healthcare Pricing—What It Means for Patients

Donald Trump has just signed new executive order for healthcare prices that could have massive impact on patients

Donald Trump claimed that this would be beneficial for the citizens of the United States.

Since his return to the White House, Donald Trump has certainly caused a stir, and one of his most recent executive orders has the potential to bring about big changes in the healthcare business.

The new executive order was signed by Donald Trump in the belief that it would boost the level of openness that patients have regarding the expenses of their care.

Patients are now able to compare the expenses of receiving treatment in one location to those of having treatment in another location since healthcare providers and insurers are required to reveal their pricing to the public.

At the moment, discussions regarding the costs of medical care have generally taken place behind closed doors between medical professionals, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and insurance companies.

President Trump has received some support as a result of this decision, and it represents a more aggressive approach to increasing compliance with laws that President Trump announced in 2019 but that Vice President Biden rejected.

During the signing ceremony for the new executive order that took place earlier this week in front of reporters, Donald Trump defended the policy.

In his words, “It is one of the most significant things that can occur in terms of lowering costs and improving healthcare.”

“It takes a little while to kick in, but Biden halted it immediately upon stepping in, which was a terrible tragedy in my opinion. That wasn’t the only thing that happened.

In addition to the fact that we are going to begin operations, we have also strengthened it by a couple of significant things.

“It allows people to go out and negotiate with price, and you are not even allowed to talk about it when you go to a hospital and see a doctor,” he continued. “It is impossible to know what the price is.”

You are able to go out and talk about it, and it is actually one of the largest… there are a couple of folks who have been around for a long time who believe that there are real benefits to this, and this is the most significant thing you can do for reducing prices.

Despite the fact that Trump acknowledged that this action has been met with opposition in certain quarters, he eventually concluded that it will be beneficial for patients.

After that, he continued, “It is not so good for the pharmaceuticals, the companies that make the drugs, and I guess you could say that it isn’t great for hospitals, but they say that if you have a great hospital that really knows what it is doing, it is actually great for the hospital because everyone wants to go there.”

In spite of Trump’s assertions that this will ultimately result in reduced pricing, groups representing the insurance industry have contended that the contrary is true. They have stated that the implementation of cost regulations would result in an increase in rates.

In addition to this, organizations representing hospitals argued that the declaration of prices for each and every item and service infringed their rights under the First Amendment during the time that Trump was in office.

They claimed that the policy deprived them of the ability to negotiate with insurers and bargain over pricing, which they had previously enjoyed.
