China Responds Strongly to Trump’s Tariffs—Says It’s ‘Ready to Fight’
China says it is ‘ready to fight till the end’ in any ‘type of war’ following Trump’s tariffs
Following Donald Trump’s decision to increase the duty on all Chinese imports from 10 percent to 20 percent, both the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese Embassy have stated that they are “ready to fight until the end.”
Following the initial implementation of the ten percent tariff against China at the beginning of February, President Trump increased the tariffs on March 4, the same day that he made the decision to enforce the twenty-five percent tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada.

The President of the United States has stated that the purpose of his tariffs is to “combat the extraordinary threat to U.S. national security, including our public health posed by unchecked drug trafficking.” However, China has swiftly responded to this by imposing tariffs of 10-15 percent on some agricultural imports from the United States.
The 15 percent tariffs have an effect on popular products that are imported from the United States, such as chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton. On the other hand, the 10 percent tariffs have an effect on other products, including pork, cattle, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.
The United States is also the focus of other actions, such as the suspension of permits for the export of soybeans to the country and the cessation of lumber imports.

In response to the move taken by President Trump, the China Center for the Conference Board’s head, Alfredo Montufar-Helu, stated that the tariffs that were imposed were a “restrained, targeted approach aimed at causing pain to those industries that matter the most to the supporters of the Trump administration.”
In the present moment, the Chinese embassy has taken a more aggressive stance by publishing a post on Twitter that implies it is prepared for a “war.”
The message included the following: “If war is what the U.S. wants, be it a tariff war, a trade war or any other type of war, we’re ready to fight till the end.”

The post is a reiteration of statements made by Lin Jian, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, on March 4. In that tweet, he stated that China would “fight until the end” if the United States insisted on “waging a tariff war, trade war, or any other kind of war.”

“I want to reiterate that the Chinese people have never feared evil or ghosts, nor have we ever bowed to hegemony or bullying,” Jian said. “I think it is important to emphasize this point.” Engaging with China by means such as pressure, coercion, and threats is not the appropriate approach.
It would be a math error and a mistake to attempt to impose the maximum amount of pressure on China.
Currently, China has established for itself a target for economic growth of “around five percent” for this year. The country intends to achieve this target by making domestic demand the “main engine and anchor” of its growth for the year.

Historically, the nation has relied on exports as a means of achieving its five percent objective economic growth.
