Justin Trudeau’s Parting Words on U.S. Relations in Final Speech
Justin Trudeau makes final dig at Donald Trump during last speech as Prime Minister of Canada
For a moment, Trudeau pondered the prospects for Canada’s future.
While delivering his farewell address, the departing Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, reflected on the potential direction that the future of Canada could take.

On Sunday (March 9), former Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau delivered an emotional farewell speech at the conference of his Liberal Party. Trudeau made an effort to suppress his tears as he delivered his statement.
As a result of months of domestic troubles that caused him to lose widespread support, Trudeau tendered his resignation on January 6 of this year.
However, before to his official departure from office, he did make the announcement that Canada would be imposing tariffs of 25 percent on items worth $155 billion that were imported from the United States.
It was a reaction to tariffs of a similar nature that the United States had imposed on the nation.
As the trade war between the two partners continues, Trudeau made a reference to the challenges that may lie ahead for Canada and how he has been proud to see how the people of the country have responded to the issues that have arisen as a result of the confrontation.

“Now, these past years, these past ten years, have been challenging, crisis after crisis has been thrown at Canadians,” he remarked. “Now, these past years have been challenging.” However, Canadians have demonstrated their true nature through each and every catastrophe. We’ve taken a collective step.
“We have been an advocate for one another. And each and every time, we have emerged even more powerful than before. The Canadian people are demonstrating exactly what we are capable of doing at this very moment, when they are confronted with an existential issue and an economic crisis that comes from our neighbor.
He proceeded by saying, “Canadians are demonstrating what it is that makes us Canadians, not by defining ourselves by who we are not, but by passionately embracing who we are… We are a nation that will engage in diplomatic efforts when we are able to, but we will be ready to battle when we are forced to.
In addition, Trudeau’s successor, Mark Carney, who had previously served as the head of the United Kingdom and central banks, made a speech on Sunday and did not waste any time in taking aim at Donald Trump.

Regardless of what Republican leaders and supporters have stated over the course of the past few months, Carney’s statement made it very obvious that Canada has no intention of becoming the 51st state in the United States of America.
“The United States of America is not Canada,” he stated. Also, Canada will never, ever, ever be a part of the United States of America in any manner, shape, or form.
“This fight is not something that we asked for, but Canadians are always ready to fight when someone else throws the gloves down.” Our resources, our water, our land, and our country are all things that the Americans want.

“Give it some thought. The way we live our lives will be obliterated if they are successful.
“I am aware that these are hard times. Days of darkness brought on by a nation that we can no longer put our faith in.
“Although we are beginning to recover from the shock, it is imperative that we do not forget the lessons that we have learned: we must take care of ourselves, and we must also watch out for each other. During the challenging days that lie ahead, we need to work together.
