The singer has recently developed a green thumb after growing up on a farm. She views her garden as one of her “happy places,” where she can spend time contemplating and thinking.
Carrie Underwood has revealed snippets of her garden on her vast home throughout the years. She has expanded her homegrown endeavours by adding a greenhouse and adopting an organic lifestyle.
The starlet and her husband decided to move to the country when she married former ice hockey player Mike Fisher in July 2010 in a Southern-style ceremony in Georgia.
The couple paid $3 million for 400 acres near Franklin, Tennessee, in 2011. They created a unique estate with rolling hills, a picturesque lake, and horse stables in order to realise their goal of a secluded haven surrounded by nature.
The following year, the couple appeared on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” giving viewers a sneak peek at what would soon be their ideal home on the then-empty acreage.
During the drive over the estate, Fisher spotted a picturesque ridge and said it “sees everything.” Additionally, he pointed out that an orchard had been planted on the opposite side of the property.
Fisher described the place as having a “nice high spot” with a cool breeze, and the couple pointed out a dedicated picnic area on an elevated spot where they intended to plant more trees.
Their relationship with the earth went beyond beautiful scenery and thoughtfully designed areas. Underwood posted a video to Instagram in July 2022 that showed off the bounty of fruits and vegetables she had grown in her garden.

“My garden is one of my happy places…when I’m getting my hands dirty it’s my time for thought and reflection,” she said. She continued, “Enjoy a little taste of calm…from my #Garden to yours.”
Over the years, her love for locally farmed fruit grew stronger. The singer has been caring for an orchard and poultry in addition to keeping up a garden since 2018.

In order to further her efforts, Underwood hired California-based Epic Gardening to erect a greenhouse on her land in February 2023. She acknowledged that she was “obsessed” with the addition and expressed her pleasure about it.
The area is designed to accommodate a variety of plantings and includes a mix of circular, L-shaped, and rectangular beds in addition to outdoor raised beds.
Inside, she set up a potting bench among citrus trees on the building’s south side. There are also specific herb beds and sowing tables with a range of species in the greenhouse. She raises chickens on the property, and a chicken coop just beyond offers a consistent supply of fresh eggs.

After attending a cattle sale with their son, Isaiah, Fisher gave Underwood two cows for Christmas in 2020, naming them Brownie and Oreo, as their farm was turning into a veritable animal sanctuary.
After their five horses went into their “forever barn,” the front pasture became available for other animals, and the cows arrived. In addition, the family started beekeeping, and Underwood hinted that donkeys would follow.
Beyond the animals, the area is a rich supply of fresh ingredients for her family, with many apple and peach trees and smaller shrubs that produce blackberries and blueberries.

Underwood, who grew up on a cattle farm, praised Tennessee’s mild temperature during an appearance on the YouTube channel “Epic Gardening,” stating that she enjoys it because it allows her to “grow something from nothing.” The greenhouse’s exterior was still lacking some stonework at the time.
The celebrity freely expressed her desire for a more sustainable existence as her commitment to self-sufficiency increased. During her appearance on “The Dr. Axe Show,” in September 2023, she talked about her growing dedication to gardening.
The Grammy Award winner emphasised her dedication to homegrown fruit when she said, “My goal is to not buy food from the store anymore,” Although she enthusiastically adopted this lifestyle, she acknowledged that her kids, Jacob and Isaiah Fisher, were still apprehensive.
The majority of the food the family consumes comes from their farm; dinners often include meat from Fisher’s hunting and vegetables from her garden. “We eat seasonally and it all tastes delicious because it’s food,” the mother of two said.
Even when compared to organic stuff from health food stores, Underwood has observed a noticeable difference between the vegetables grown on her property and store-bought food. She and her family are still dedicated to living an organic lifestyle, enriching their crops with fish water as fertiliser.
In their home, nothing is wasted. Anything that isn’t fit for their chickens is composted and used for other purposes. “Everything is enjoyable. “Physically doing all of these things feels good,” she said.
Her goals grew along with her gardening abilities. In order to accommodate more trees, Underwood expanded the number of beds in her greenhouse. When questioned about her favourite crops, the singer of “The Champion” responded, “I’ve always been great with tomatoes.” She claims that the fruit thrives where they are, becoming big and “beautiful.”

Underwood tries with unusual red tomato varietals instead of adhering to the classics. In 2023 alone, she grew between 30 and 35 tomato plants of about 25 different varieties.
She notes that squash grows well on her property and has had success with it in addition to tomatoes. The artist revealed, “Squash grow incredible here [sic],” and she also likes to cultivate beans. She feels a sense of achievement when she sees jars full of black beans or black-eyed peas.
She was happy with the outcome and managed to grow more peppers than ever before that same year. Around the same time, her onions flourished as well, expanding her collection of domestically grown vegetables.
Underwood is constantly curious and frequently reads and listens to podcasts to learn new methods, such as planting various crops or choosing companion plants that help keep pests away.
The star said, “A lot of it comes down to, like, having your eyes on it,” highlighting how crucial it is to continue paying attention to her garden’s requirements. She and Fisher had been pursuing a bigger ideal for years, and her idea of a self-sufficient home was only one aspect of it.
She revealed in 2016 that they were working on the design of their “forever home,” mentioning specific personal necessities like “a wood-burning fireplace, a porch swing, and rocking chairs.”
The finished estate is large, with several living areas, a number of garages, and a complete basement. A large walk-in closet with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes displaying an extensive collection of clothes, shoes and bags is part of the master suite.
The expansive home, which has many bedrooms and bathrooms, was made to be both comfortable and useful for their family of four.

Underwood and Fisher left their old residence in Brentwood, Tennessee, to move into their estate in 2018 following years of preparation.
More than just their ideal home had a role in their decision to move. The award-winning singer needed more than 40 stitches to her face after falling on the property, which is currently valued at $1.45 million.
Sources said that although the pair had been thinking about moving, the tragedy and security worries cemented their choice. According to reports, their decision to move was further prompted by complaints about neighbours letting outsiders into the neighbourhood.

Devoted Christians Underwood and Fisher focused on expanding their family during these upheavals. But along the road, they ran into unforeseen difficulties. The singer had many miscarriages when attempting to conceive after giving birth to Isaiah in 2015.

She prayed for clarity as she broke down in tears, struggling emotionally. She said, “You heard me,” thinking that God had heard her when a doctor one day confirmed that her fourth pregnancy was healthy.

For Underwood and Fisher, that moment of prayer being answered gave them new hope. In 2019, their second son, Jacob Fisher, was born, expanding their family after years of uncertainty.

Carrie Underwood and Fisher have created a prosperous homestead on their 400-acre property by living a life based on self-reliance, faith, and family.
Despite obstacles including miscarriages and a severe fall, they are steadfast in their mission and are raising their two sons in the country.
