Fan falls from stands during Pirates game – here’s what happened

A tragic incident occurred at PNC Park during the Pittsburgh Pirates game against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday May 1 when Kavan Markwood of McKeesport Pennsylvania became a fan fatality by falling from the stands.

A fatal incident happened when Andrew McCutchen hit a game-turning double for the Pittsburgh Pirates team after the seventh inning began. While spectators cheered a stadium landmark event a terrible incident transpired by the right-field stands which extended past the stadium’s Clemente Wall.

Team chairman Bob Nutting reacted to the incident through a public announcement which he labeled as “devastating.” He told everyone about the devastating nature of this moment which affected all players in the Pirates organization and their supporters and staff members.
