Royal Expert Reveals Why King Charles Is Keeping His Distance from Prince Harry

Why King Charles Refuses to Reach Out to Prince Harry, Royal Expert Explains

The Duke of Sussex’s attempts to get back in touch with his father seem to have failed once more.

One royal analyst thinks the king’s silence is a part of a long-standing and purposeful royal strategy, after Prince Harry’s recent comments regarding his tense relationship with King Charles III.

The Duke of Sussex revealed that Charles has not responded to his attempts to contact him since he suffered a major legal defeat on security safeguards in the UK on May 2. Christopher Andersen, a royal specialist, thinks there’s a good reason why Charles hasn’t spoken to his son in public or privately yet.

“It really does look like Charles is taking the ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ axiom to a whole other level, doesn’t it?” Andersen took note. “The King is merely adhering to a long-standing royal custom of not elevating something by making a comment on it,” the royal expert clarified. The Palace is unwilling to support Harry’s statements.

Andersen went on to say that a public argument with his son is not beneficial because King Charles III is already juggling a lot of personal and public obligations. He pointed out that Harry, however, has adopted a different strategy, which is evident from his sensational BBC News interview.

Harry went public, according to the royal expert, probably as a result of the palace’s continued private quiet. “Not even being able to reach his father on the phone must be really annoying for him. There is a true Catch-22 situation here: Harry will have to increase the amount of his public remarks as long as the Palace ignores him in the belief that he will disappear,” he conjectured.

Harry has stated that he wants to make amends with the royal family in spite of the conflict. He underlined that there is no use in carrying on the war. In addition, he mentioned Charles’ continuous fight with cancer and the uncertainty surrounding his father’s prognosis.

Andersen says, “If Harry really wants to reconcile with his family, he has an odd way of showing it.” He thinks Harry might sincerely want to make amends but finds his strategy to be ineffective.

Andersen noted that although Harry has expressed a wish to restore his relationship with his family, he has also charged the palace with meddling in his legal dispute. “At this time, I can’t imagine returning to the UK with Meghan Markle and their children, Archie and Lilibet,” the 40-year-old said, questioning their worry for his family’s safety.

However, in the same sentence, Harry makes a plea for reconciliation based on his father’s deteriorating health, which appears to be inconsistent with the harsh statements he has made in public, according to Andersen.

Harry’s latest legal battle with the UK government regarding the security measures given to him and his family when they visited the country ended on May 2.

The court found that his perception of injustice did not constitute a legitimate legal argument, despite acknowledging the “powerful” argument he presented regarding the risks they faced.

The Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) committee, which makes security decisions for senior royals on behalf of the Home Office, was at the heart of his appeal. Harry claimed that he was unjustly denied the automatic, all-encompassing security that other senior royals enjoyed.

He insisted that Ravec’s Risk Management Board (RMB), which is in charge of identifying possible risks, ought to have looked into his situation, but this process was omitted.

Judges concluded that the committee’s 2020 decision about his security was justified because of the particular and complicated circumstances surrounding him, even though they acknowledged that the committee had deviated from standard procedure.

Harry has considered how his wife, children, and himself were all impacted by the modifications to his security procedures. He said that authorities felt the decision may have been made to pressure the couple to return to royal life since they knew the dangers of reducing protection in 2020.

“But do you not want to protect us when you realize that didn’t work? “Despite all of our differences, do you not want to just make sure we’re safe, whether you’re my dad, the Royal Household, the government, or my family?” he questioned.

The father of two responded, “I have a deep affection for the country despite feeling let down by some individuals within it,” when asked if he missed being in the UK. The fact that he might never be able to properly introduce his kids to the country he calls home was distressing, he said.

Furthermore, Harry stated that he would not seek any additional legal action after the court’s ruling. He came to the conclusion that there was no realistic way to succeed through the legal system, as the court’s ruling had affirmed.

He added that the result had taken him by surprise and that he would have valued more precise instructions at the beginning of the procedure.

“This, at the heart of it, is a family dispute, and it makes me really, really sad that we’re sitting here today, five years later, where a decision that was made most likely, in fact I know, to keep us under the roof,” he said.

The court’s ruling has a profound impact on Prince Harry, who has expressed unhappiness in both the result and those who backed it. He thinks that some people may see the decision as a win, especially those who have bad intents toward him.

Harry is already moving on, despite his disappointment. He summoned Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to review the Ravec committee’s procedures and step in on his security issue.

He acknowledged that he had written to Cooper, requesting an immediate reconsideration of the case, in a statement issued following the decision. A Home Office spokesman, however, stated that the UK’s protective security system is strict and appropriate, and that they applauded the court’s ruling.

“It is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on those arrangements, as doing so could compromise their integrity and affect individuals’ security,” said a spokeswoman.

Harry’s claim that the Royal Household was involved in the 2020 decision to reduce his security was also denied by Buckingham Palace. Now, the Palace has insisted that the case has been carefully examined in court several times, with each decision reaching the same conclusion.

The Sussexes continue to live their lives while Harry works to keep his family safe. It was Archie’s sixth birthday on May 6, 2025. Meghan posted a sweet picture of their son on Instagram to commemorate the day.

Archie stood silently watching the horizon, his diminutive figure silhouetted against a blaze of orange light as a beautiful sunset extended across the water. The moment was calm, almost poetic.

Just a child in pajamas, enjoying the glory of the setting sun, captured the innocence of a moment that would soon pass without the use of formal portraits or castle backgrounds. With its tale of introspection, love, and the passing of time, the Instagram post exuded a soft strength.

Meghan added the touching caption, “Our son,” to the eye-catching picture. Our sun. Archie, happy sixth birthday! We appreciate all of your well wishes, prayers, and love for our darling child. He is six years old! What happened to the time? (And we would like to thank everyone who attended his celebration last weekend for making his birthday so very special ❤️).

Archie celebrated his sixth birthday in Montecito, California, surrounded by family and friends, but Harry, a well-known person, was apparently not present.

Far away in Las Vegas, the Duke of Sussex was supporting a cause that was near and dear to his heart: youth empowerment through the new “Pledge to Invest” campaign from The Diana Award.

“Pledge to Invest” was launched on May 6, the same day Archie’s birthday, with the goal of inspiring progressive companies to support youth development in significant, long-lasting ways in order to generate enduring support for the next generation of leaders.

The project is the most recent effort by The Diana Award, a nonprofit organization established in honor of the late Princess of Wales. Both of her sons are still supporting it.

The Duke of Sussex has missed Archie’s special day before, but Harry’s absence from home on his son’s birthday was undoubtedly notable. Harry went to London, England, on May 6, 2023, to witness the coronation of his father, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla.

Two recipients of the coveted Legacy Award, young changemakers Sikander ‘Sonny’ Khan and Christina Williams, who exemplify Diana’s passion and vision, joined Harry for a thought-provoking conversation at the unveiling with Dr. Tessy Ojo CBE, CEO of The Diana Award.

The discussion took place in the presence of Paul Fipps, President of Global Customer Operations at ServiceNow, the host of the Knowledge 2025 event. The discussion centered on how companies can support youth-led innovation and leadership with funding, mentorship, platforms, and long-term possibilities.

Harry and Dr. Ojo held a private roundtable with more than 20 prominent executives, donors, and social impact leaders, including Bill McDermott, CEO of ServiceNow, prior to taking the stage.

The meeting served as a forum to discuss practical approaches that could close the gap between the potential of the grassroots movement and corporate power.

Harry used strong language and a resolute dedication to the next generation to make his mark on the world stage. He spoke at the launch and provided very personal thoughts about the importance of elevating young voices, a cause that reflects his late mother’s spirit.

Harry talked passionately on the deep impact of seeing young people overcome adversity and use their struggles as catalysts for change while reflecting on his engagement with The Diana Award.

“That’s not just inspiring — it’s the kind of untapped potential we can’t afford to overlook,” he stated. In his remarks, he criticized current structures, highlighting the fact that too many young people are still excluded from leadership pipelines due to the lack of open and accessible channels.

Harry questioned antiquated ideas about young people throughout the conversation, pointing out that the current generation is already taking on leadership roles without waiting for approval.

He clarified that their rejection of the current quo is what distinguishes them as extraordinary, in addition to their emotional intelligence and social conscience. “If we’re serious about a better future, we need to stop underestimating them and start listening,” he said.

The Duke turned to fellow panelists Sikander and Christina, both young changemakers, and honored their leadership and principles in an emotional moment of appreciation.

“This generation has more empathy than I’ve ever witnessed. “It’s the fearlessness, the truth, the honesty, the empathy, and the authenticity,” he exclaimed.

“That is what we need,” Harry continued, praising their bravery in standing up for what’s right in their communities. We require bold leadership. I thus salute you both and everything you stand for.”

Speaking directly to business executives, Christina and Sikander also discussed the importance of mentorship.

“Offering opportunity for education, upskilling, and professional mobility is not a charitable gesture. Doing this today will benefit you in the long run by ensuring that you have a skilled and competent generation to manage your businesses in a few decades,” Christina said.

“I want people to understand that all of us have been in that position, where we’ve been young people looking for a chance, and then somebody gave us that chance,” Sikander said as he shared his thoughts.

He went on, “When we get up, it’s our duty to help others up and make room for them. Being that mentor to younger people and attempting to create that ripple effect is something I’ve tried to do every single day as a young person.”

The Diana Award honors the late princess’s unwavering conviction that young people can make a difference in the world if they are given the correct resources and support.

The organization’s basic yet significant goal is to enable young people to spearhead revolutionary change. The organization works directly with youth in communities to unleash their potential, spark social action, and provide meaningful opportunities through mentorship, anti-bullying programs, and changemaker projects.

It involves more than simply traditional leadership; it involves fostering self-assurance, compassion, and a sense of one’s own voice, particularly among those who might otherwise go unheard.

This goal is not pursued by the charity alone. The secret to its impact is cooperation. Working with young leaders and encouraging partners, The Diana Award develops pathways that are inclusive and incredibly sensitive to the changing needs of today’s youth.

The company has a broad and individualized reach, whether it is by creating long-term mentorship programs or providing a timely conversation that leads to a change in course.

Every day, a dedicated group of people works behind the scenes to realize Diana’s vision. The team’s motivation is always the same, whether they’re out in communities interacting with young people one-on-one, collaborating with corporate partners, overseeing fundraising initiatives, or recognizing the achievements of their young awardees.

Harry’s remarks at the charity’s recent launch event were a call to action rather than merely a rehashing of a speech. Harry was unquestionably near the future his son would eventually inherit, even on a day when he was physically separated from Archie.
