Viral Airport Incident Sparks Debate Over Accessibility and Dignity
People Are Ruthless After Plus-Sized Woman Complains About Not Being Pushed In Wheelchair
A plus-sized influencer protested against “fat travelers” for what she called “blatant discrimination.”
After being refused wheelchair assistance, 28-year-old Jaelynn Chaney accused the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport of “violating” people’s rights.

“Our liberties are violated by SeaTac. In the center of the airport, she held up a sign that read, “#WheelchairAccessForAll.”
In response to what she called “blatant discrimination” against “fat travelers,” Jaelynn Chaney organized a protest.
The TikTok content maker, who has 140.2K followers, said that her “body size” prevented her from receiving wheelchair help.
Other overweight travelers have also experienced this, so I’m not alone. She captioned her TikTok video, “When I spoke up, people told me it was because I could ‘injure the staff’ just by existing.” “That is obviously discriminatory.”

She continued by saying that if SeaTac doesn’t “assist fat people,” they ought to have a “written policy stating their discrimination outright.”
She said, “But instead, they lie, refuse services, and leave fat, disabled travelers stranded.” “This cannot be tolerated, and I will not remain silent.”
“It is discriminatory for SeaTac to refuse wheelchair assistance to obese individuals.” read the text over a video that went viral.
The plus-size blogger encouraged anyone who have gone through similar things to speak up.
“Speak up. Tell me if you’re afraid, and I’ll defend you,” she added. “I’ll make use of this platform, which I am thankful for, to encourage you and give your voice more weight.”

The majority of online users showed little sympathy for her predicament.
“Why should someone push you at the risk of bodily harm?” A social media user inquired
“I don’t get it?!?! One reader said, “I looked at her profile, she can walk!!!” Another remarked, “Being fat isn’t an identity or a disability.”
One person remarked, “You choose to fight for your right to be a fat lazy drain on society when there are so many horrible things happening right now.”
One person recommended, “Get yourself an electronic wheelchair and push yourself.”
Wheelchairs are for those with disabilities. People who are not physically fit are consuming themselves until they die. Another added, “I wouldn’t put my back in danger to push you.”
“You really think that the average person can push your entire body weight when your body weight prevents you from walking or moving around?” asking someone else.
Support was also shown by others, one of whom said, “Some of these comments attacking her are just simply terrible! … Do better, folks!
Another said, “People who are overweight are still people and they need help too.”
The plus-size activist claimed that the last time a SeaTac staffer refused to push her wheelchair, she almost “fainted.”
Jaelynn has previously claimed that she was turned away from wheelchair help at SeaTac.
She went viral last year after claiming in a video that an airport employee had refused to push her wheelchair.
She informed the crowd that “she began to walk away with the wheelchair while making comments about my size.”
“She blatantly ignored me and continued to walk even after I told her that I truly needed the chair and asked her to let me sit in it.”
“No one should be treated this way; this is discrimination,” Jaelynn remarked.

The overweight influencer claimed that she almost passed out as a result of having to climb “one of the longest jet bridges” she had ever seen.
She went on to say, “This is discrimination; no one should be treated this way.”
As part of her campaign for “fat liberation,” Jaelynn has requested in her earlier viral videos that airlines provide plus-size travelers with free additional tickets.
The plus-size activist retaliated against those who demanded she pay more to fly and compared her physique to luggage.
She added that it was “dehumanizing” to see online users criticize her for advocating that airlines provide plus-size travelers with complimentary additional tickets.

According to the content author, airlines ought to provide plus-size travelers with complimentary additional tickets.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) must “protect plus-size travelers,” according to a petition that Jaelynn initiated.

More than 39,621 people have signed the petition, which calls for “accessible additional seats to customers-of-size,” a “refund for customers-of-size who purchase additional seats independently,” and other things.
There has been a lot of conjecture in recent months over Jaelynn’s arrest for assault.
