Donald Trump moves official White House portrait of Barack Obama to unusual place and people aren’t impressed

Three former US presidents’ official pictures are said to have been moved to less noticeable locations within the White House at Donald Trump’s direction.

At the request of 79-year-old Trump, paintings of Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and his father, George H. W. Bush, have been scattered throughout the Washington residence, CNN said.

Robert McCurdy painted Obama’s portrait, which was first displayed in the White House foyer before being unveiled in September 2022.

According to the publication, building personnel have since relocated it to the Grand Staircase at the top of the home.

The 44th President’s image is now firmly out of reach for the thousands of people who visit the White House every year, according to the new analysis.

Its current home is severely restricted to US Secret Agents, members of the First Family, and a small number of White House and executive housing employees.

Both of Bush’s portraits have also been moved to the staircase area for the 47th president of the United States, a source told the publication.

John Howard Sanden painted the portrait of Republican President George W. Bush, which was revealed in 2012.

Herbert E. Abrams photographed his father’s likeness, which he formally unveiled in 1995.

Trump has been under fire on social media for his alleged artwork alteration; one X user called him a “petty and insecure man.”

Another person said, “He tops himself again just when you think he could disrespect himself any more.”

A third said: “Don’t worry, Trump. Every picture of you in the White House will be deleted by the next president.

During his first term in office, Trump replaced George W. Bush and Bill Clinton’s portraits in the Grand Foyer with those of Theodore Roosevelt and William McKinley.

CNN described the Old Family Dining chamber as a “small, rarely used room that is not seen by most visitors,” which is where the photos were relocated.

McCurdy previously discussed his picture of Obama, which features the Democrat wearing a black suit and grey tie standing in the middle of a blank canvas.

In a video with the Obama Foundation, he stated, “The idea of the gaze — two people looking directly at each other with nothing else to load the narrative — was the subject ultimately for me.”
