A 6-Year-Old Girl Met Another Identical to Her at School… and the Mother Turned Pale When She Saw the DNA Test Results…-NTY

As usual that morning, Lucía escorted her six-year-old daughter Sofia to elementary school. Sofia was adored by all of her classmates because she was lively, endearing, and extremely vigilant. However, Lucía experienced an odd feeling as soon as they entered the school gate that day.

Another girl was walking hand in hand with her mother in the center of the courtyard, speaking cheerfully.

Lucía felt chilled because this girl was exactly like Sofia: she had the same big round eyes, shoulder-length hair, and even the same dimple at the corner of her lips. When viewed from a distance, it resembled staring into a mirror.

Surprised, Sofia opened her eyes as well, released her mother’s hand, and rushed forward, saying, “Mommy, look! Why is there a different me present?

The two females erupted into laughter after gaping in awe. They instantly clasped hands, smiling and asking each other questions as if they had known each other for their entire lives. Carolina, the other woman, and Lucía stood looking at each other, confused.

“I’ll believe it without hesitation if you tell me they’re twins,” the group teacher said, laughing uncontrollably.

While youngsters were laughing in the courtyard, Lucía felt restless within, and this restlessness persisted throughout the day.

During supper that evening, Sofia happily informed mom that she had met “another one just like me.” The morning scene still disturbed Lucía, despite her slight grin.

A daring idea occurred to her: what if there had been some misunderstanding earlier?

At the end of school a few days later, Lucía and Carolina reconnected. Their discussion gradually grew until Lucía couldn’t hold back and asked, “Have you considered doing a DNA test on the girls?”

Carolina’s eyes were filled with amazement, but also skepticism. At last, the two decided to “just be sure” by taking the young ones to a lab.

But both of them were breathless when they heard the results.

According to the findings, Sofia and Ana share a 99.9% genetic profile.

Not only did they share a similar appearance, but they were also twin sisters.

With a shudder, Carolina said in a shaky voice, “It can’t be! I only had a single girl, whom the doctor held in his arms.

And Lucía was stunned. In a Guadalajara hospital, she had had a difficult cesarean surgery six years prior. She was barely able to view her child before she passed out. Sofia had already been brought to her by a nurse when she awoke. What if there was another girl?

Over the next few nights, Lucía was unable to fall asleep. She contacted nurses she knew, called the previous doctor, and looked over her medical records.

Gradually, the reality emerged: the maternity ward was overcrowded and in disarray due to multiple simultaneous births that day. Could the newborns have been confused with one another?

In the meantime, Sofia and Ana grew close. They appeared to be related by blood; they had a living room together and went and went together.

“They play as if they were one, they think the same, and they do the same homework,” the teachers remarked.

Carolina groaned one day as she picked up her kid, asking, “What will we do if the hospital truly made a mistake? Who is the biological mother of whom?

When Lucía heard the question, she gasped. What if the child she had lovingly reared for six years wasn’t actually her biological daughter? “Whatever happens, she will always be my daughter,” she told herself, gazing into Sofia’s eyes.

Carolina and Lucía made the decision to go back to the hospital where they had given birth. The original files were handed to them after they persisted.

The secret lay in the fact that a twin had been born on that day. One of the infants was taken by ambulance to an incubator, and the mother was in critical condition. Records were unclear and lacking.

A retired nurse put her palm to her mouth and admitted, after looking over the documents: “That day there was a mix-up. The incorrect mother was handed one of the babies.

It paralyzed the two women. Last but not least, Sofia and Ana were mistakenly split up at birth.

They were relieved to finally understand why the girls looked alike, but they were also hurt by the revelation. Although fate had been unkind, they now had the opportunity to make amends.

Lucía came home and watched her daughter sleep, fearing that she might lose her. However, she realized that love is shared rather than split when she witnessed Sofia and Ana laughing together the following day.

The two families decided to raise them together, like sisters, after discussing the matter. There would just be “our daughters” instead of “my daughter” or “your daughter.”

Since then, Sofia has slept at Ana’s house on the weekends, and Ana has slept at Sofia’s. The family gathered as though they were a single unit.

Gradually, the pain subsided and was replaced by the delight of witnessing the girls develop in a loving home.

The twins hugged both mothers and muttered, “We are fortunate… because we have two moms who love us,” after they had figured out the story years before.

Lucía was sobbing uncontrollably. Despite the harshness of life, love always manages to mend. Seeing her daughter, or girls, smile was enough for her to know that it had all been worthwhile.
