Single dad helps old lady mow her lawn, soon gets a shocking call from her lawyer
One day, Felix, a single father, was dozing off at home when he heard the sound of a lawnmower. He made the decision to go outside and investigate, wondering who might be cutting their lawn at the moment. He was surprised to see it was Mrs. McAllister, the old woman who lived next door.
She wasn’t old enough to be cutting her own yard. Additionally, she was seldom using her cane to walk, so Felix volunteered to assist her. However, he couldn’t help but wonder why she wasn’t receiving assistance from her son, who didn’t see her very often.
Mrs. McAllister was happy to have Felix’s assistance. He had previously assisted her when she needed help around the house.
Mrs. McAllister invited her neighbour inside and offered him a glass of lemonade as a token of appreciation for his thoughtfulness. She encouraged him to wait for her because she had something to give him, as if that wasn’t enough.
She returned a few minutes later with an odd-looking box. She gave it to him and said that Felix should have it since it held particular significance for her.
She persisted even though he hesitated and stated he couldn’t accept that box. She then handed him a bag of apples for Suzie, his daughter.

After Felix got home, he brought the apples to Suzie, who informed him that inside were some papers with what appeared to be codes scrawled on them. They seemed to be for the box her father had brought home, she supposed. Felix refused to let Suize open the box. He thought he ought to give Mrs. McAllister the box back.
He took the box and headed to Mrs. McAllister’s residence the next day. He made the decision to enter after she failed to reply. Sadly, she was in poor health and appeared to be asleep, but she was actually dead. It must have been during the night that she died.
Felix made the decision a few days later to look out information about the box he had gotten on the Internet. He was surprised to learn that it had significant historical value and could fetch a price of more than $250,000.
Felix was terrified as much as ecstatic. Though he wasn’t sure if he should keep the box, Mrs. McAllister ultimately requested it.
Felix received a phone call one day from someone. “This is Tim, Mrs. McAllister’s attorney. I want to meet up with you as soon as possible. Are you available now?
They met at a local cafe the next day. However, Henry, Mrs. McAllister’s son, was with the lawyer.
“I’ll get straight to the point, Lexi. My mother’s home has a little box that has dials on the lid stolen. It is a priceless heirloom. Since you were the last person in her home, I provided you an opportunity to act morally.
“You believe I took something from your mum?” Felix bellowed. “Mrs. McAllister gave me the box as a token of appreciation for mowing her lawn—a duty you ought to have performed for her!”
“You would never have gotten that box from Mom!” Henry said, jabbing a finger into Felix’s eye. “It was purchased from a renowned craftsman by my great-great-grandfather, who was a famous politician!” It’s one of only two in the world like it! When you return the package to me, I’ll give you $1,000. Alright?
“No.” Felix stood up. “When I put it up for auction, you can purchase it if you so choose. Alright Henry, good bye.
The next day Felix went to a sales house nearby.
A woman named Ellen joined them after Mr. Whitaker, a sombre guy with a condescending accent, requested him to come into a back room for the evaluation.
Mr. Whitaker declared, “I can confirm right away that the craftsman’s mark on the underside is genuine.” “Therefore, sir, this is a rather significant article. one of just two in the entire globe.
Ellen stooped to examine the box. That is really beautiful.Could you please show me your provenance paperwork?
“Pardon me?” Felix shouted.
Ellen stated, “You must present a certificate of authentication, or any verifiable document that proves the authenticity of the artefact and your ownership.”

Felix got up at that point and threatened to leave, but they forbade him from doing so, stating that they had to call the police so he could explain how he came to own such a valuable item. Felix, though, left the area.
He made the decision to go into Mrs. McAllister’s that evening in the hopes of discovering the documents. But a torch obscured his view as he passed through the window. Henry was the one.
“You’re not so mighty and high now, Felix?” stated Hendry.
“It doesn’t look like this. All I need is— Felix expressed fear.
“I know the paperwork for the box,” Henry remarked. “The auction house called me after you attempted to con them because that box is connected to my family. Yes, I did inform them that they had stolen it.
Felix was then given a deadline by Henry. Either he brings the package by eight in the morning the next day, or he was reporting him to the police.
Felix bolted home. After giving it some serious thought, he chose not to return the package his neighbour had requested. After that, he carried the box and his daughter to his mother’s house. He instructed his daughter Suzie to sell the box for a minimum of $100,000 and utilise the proceeds for her academic pursuits. After that, he went back to his house and waited for the cops to arrive.
And that’s precisely what took place. Felix was imprisoned for four months while awaiting his court date after he was charged with selling the box. However, he later learned that his bail had been paid.
After being let free, he discovered that his mother and daughter had covered the bail.
He asked them if they had sold the box to someone, but Suzie declined, looking shocked.
“Well, I didn’t pay attention to you regarding the box,” Suzie grinned. Instead, I managed to open it. There was a legitimate prize there, along with a note from Mrs. McAllister. Dad, that box meant a lot to her. It was mentioned in the memo.

“I presented the note to your attorney, and subsequently, I brought the box containing all the documents to an antique dealer,” Suzie continued. “He gave us enough money to post bail, and we have an additional $100,000!”
