Katie Couric Opens Up About A Health Issue
Veteran journalist Katie Couric has shared a glimpse into the difficulties of dealing with sensitive skin by sharing a touching Instagram post in which she shares her continuous fight with eczema. In a delicate picture, the 66-year-old former Today host displayed a recent eczema flare-up on both of her eyes.
Couric has had eczema, a common skin condition marked by red, itchy patches, since she was a little child. It has, however, returned in recent years, making allergic contact dermatitis more difficult to treat. Couric, who is renowned for her honest style, mentioned that because of the sensitivity of her skin, attention should be taken when choosing skincare products.
“A call to all those with sensitive skin! 🙋♀️ Since I was a young child, I’ve had eczema, and as I’ve gotten older, it’s started to flare up again,” said Couric. “I also deal with allergic contact dermatitis — safe to say, I have to be careful about what I put on my face.”
Couric thanked doctor Cheryl Lee for assisting her in managing her eczema, emphasising her search for a successful course of treatment. She recommended Lee’s products, highlighting their effectiveness and inviting her fans to click on a link in her Instagram bio to read Lee’s advice and insights.

Jokingly, Couric said, “It’s unbelievable that I allowed my team to post this image.” Good Lord 🥴,” highlighting the vulnerability that comes with discussing personal difficulties. She did, however, reassure her audience that, based on a later Instagram shot, the eczema flare-up had decreased by the time of her meeting with George Clooney.
Couric expressed humour and resiliency in spite of the brief difficulty, saying, “It just flares up a lot and it’s so annoying! ❤️.” Reactions to the post were overwhelming, with celebs like Michelle Pfeiffer and Kristen Chenoweth offering sympathy. Supporters expressed gratitude to Couric for bringing eczema to light and using her position to spread awareness of the skin ailment.
Couric has always been honest about her health issues. She talked about her experience beating breast cancer in October, stressing the value of early detection. With the words, “I’m a living, walking example of the importance of early detection and getting screened,” Couric demonstrated the value of timely screenings at the American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala in New York. She also emphasised the necessity of mammography and additional screening for individuals with dense breasts. Because of her support of health awareness, Couric is seen as a lighthouse for people facing a range of health issues.
