During the 2019 Hawaiian Ultra Running Team’s Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run on Oahu, runner Kay Borleis captured a photo showing a hooded figure in the background, believed to be a “Nightmarcher” from Hawaiian folklore. Nightmarchers are spirits said to protect sacred individuals in Hawaiian mythology. Borleis, who encountered the entity during her race, later discovered the folklore, which suggests avoiding eye contact if one encounters a Nightmarcher. The mysterious encounter adds an eerie element to her running journey, as depicted in the chilling photograph.

It doesn’t matter how sceptical you are or how much faith you have in the supernatural; tales associated with “other-worldly” individuals are always incredibly intriguing. In the last month, researchers working in the waters off the coast of Canada were taken aback when they discovered a living volcano covered with the enormous eggs of an unidentified species.

A month ago, hikers in Brazil made waves when they captured a peculiar video of “ten-foot-tall aliens” eyeing them from a high position. There is no way to get past the reality that the fact that something cannot be explained is weirdly satisfying. On the other hand, many who saw a new “live” photo that gained widespread attention on social media platforms last week were taken aback when they noticed something quite terrifying blending into the backdrop.

2019 was the year that the Hawaiian Ultra Running Team organised the Trail 100-Mile Endurance Run that took place all across Oahu. To complete the event, participants must run a loop of twenty miles via the Honolulu Mauka trails five times. Participating in the event was runner Kay Borleis.

As a result of Borleis being a devoted runner ever since she was a youngster, she was used to keeping her head down when she was running. As a result, she found herself near a person who was said to be a “Nightmarcher.” A buddy took a photograph of the genuinely terrible moment.

When Borleis reflected on this portion of the trial, she recalled that it was particularly challenging since she had to contend with many challenges, such as deep tree roots and river crossings. During her jogging journey, she had her first foot injury as she attempted to make her way through the patches of grass.

Due to the severity of the agony, Borleis was forced to withdraw from the race. Following her return, she returned to her hotel, where her loved ones and friends awaited her arrival. After some time had passed, she demanded that her close friend Cassie, who had been accompanying her throughout the whole process as a guide, provide her with the films so that she could show them to her family and friends.

Even though Borleis was just glancing through the photographs, she had a series of “goosebumps” when she saw a peculiar individual wearing a hood emerge in the backdrop of one of the live videos.

“To this day, we still don’t know what it was,” she said in the next blog post about the entity lurking in the shadows. Borleis claims she does not recall seeing anybody else on that stretch of road despite the video showing the individual walking past her after emerging from a tree.

“No one was on that part of the trail because all runners had to run in a clockwise direction,” she wrote on her blog. In addition, they did not leave the house with visitors so early. We were jogging together, and we only came across somebody else for a short time. We were confident that no one was present, and we continue to be such. After studying the subject, she discovered a narrative about the Nightmarchers, a group of spirits who reside in Hawaii.

According to Honolulu Magazine, these ghosts “supposedly travelled at night to protect people so holy that the common man was never allowed to look at them.” This information was first published in the magazine. Another statement made by the news source was that “breaking that rule meant death.”

If a person crosses paths with one of these mystery individuals, they should remove their clothing and lay flat on their back to avoid gazing at them. Thankfully, Borleis didn’t figure it out until she returned home.
