A Stranger in a Cafe Accidentally Revealed a Shocking Truth about My Fiancé

Unhappily, Claire has become engaged. During the course of one day, she makes the decision to host a dinner party with her coworkers. Nevertheless, while they are eating lobster together, Claire comes to the realisation that there is something fishy about her fiance as well.

Despite the fact that I have always been a firm believer in the existence of signals from the cosmos, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that a lobster dinner would disclose that my fiance had been unfaithful.

On a regular basis, my fiancé Mike and I would eat at our neighbourhood seafood café, which is famous for the quality of its garlic bread and lobster, and it is also known for its wonderful lobster.

In light of this, I proposed that we go to the café when the girls at work decided that we needed to go out to eat in order to get to know each other better.

Despite the fact that there were quite a few of us working at the accounting business, I had only really gotten to know two women rather well. I had been working there for a few months.

An individual among the women remarked, “It is going to be wonderful, Claire.” “We need a night out, away from the numbers.”

The moment I got home from work, I was prepared to take a shower and get dressed for the event. As a result of his long hours at work, Mike did not show up because he rarely remained over without prior arrangements.

I was on my way when I picked up Sunita, a buddy of mine from the office, and we drove together along the way.

As I was parking, she remarked, “I believe Alice is expecting a child.” “We’ve got to see if she has any drinks tonight.”

It made me laugh. I joked with her, “$10 says you’re wrong,” and she laughed.

As we took our seats, I found myself seated at a table surrounded by people with whom I had everyday interactions, despite the fact that I did not know very much about them.

I was so excited that I suggested the lobster, and I boasted about how much Mike and I enjoyed eating it. After the server had taken our orders, everyone else sat down and began to converse.

The subject of family life was brought up in conversation, and everyone was curious about who was married and who was single. It was my turn to tell them everything there was to know about Mike.

I sipped my drink and remarked, “We actually met on a blind date,” as I introduced myself. “My brother was dating Mike’s cousin at the time, and it just seemed like a good idea.”

“How long were you dating before he proposed?” Asking was Alice. “Show us the ring!”

I proudly displayed my engagement ring and informed the group that it was a family relic that had been passed down from Mike’s grandmother.

Nancy yelled out, “Hey!” Due to the fact that Nancy was usually bringing snacks to work and worked in the same office as Sunita, I had very little interaction with her.

“Is it possible that you are joking? The ring in question is owned by my sister! The previous month, her boyfriend made the proposal, and he also mentioned that it was a family heirloom. “Just try to picture all of these grandmothers all passing down their rings from generation to generation,” Nancy laughed.

My spine was tingled with a chill. The only possible explanation is that it is a coincidence. Who was to tell that it wasn’t the only one of its kind, even if it was part of a family legacy system?

“Nancy, can you show me a picture?” Curiosity led me to ask.

She took her phone out of her pocket and browsed across the screen for a little period of time.

She said, “Here,” as she handed me her phone.

And there it was, a ring that was exactly the same as mine.

“Scroll to the left,” Nancy insisted. “There are more photos of the proposal there.”

As soon as I started scrolling, everything in my universe came to a complete halt.

In the photograph, Mike was seen proposing to Nancy’s sister while he was kneeling down.

Can you please explain why you appear to have seen a ghost? Dear Claire, how are you doing? Asking was Alice.

“Michael Harrison is your sister’s fiancé?” I inquired of Nancy.

Indeed! ‘He’s a terrific person,’ she added with a gleaming smile. “Do you know him?”

I responded with a feeble “Yeah, we’ve met,”

The level of shock was excessive. Despite the fact that my head was racing with feelings of betrayal and astonishment, I excused myself and hurried to the loo to collect my breath.

Although I made an effort to recall any mistakes that Mike had made, I was unable to do so. The years had passed since we had first met. Although we had spent less time together in recent times, I had attributed that to the fact that I was working.

I went back to the table, and not long after that, our plates of lobster, which was really excellent, arrived.

I sent Mike a text message in which I informed him of my whereabouts and suggested that he meet us for dinner.

While we were eating, I went ahead and told the ladies the truth, letting them know that the only way I had learned about Mike’s secret life was through the photograph. After I revealed that I had texted Mike, they stared at me with sympathetic eyes, and Alice offered that we have a round of shots during our conversation.

Loren, Nancy’s sister, received a phone call from Nancy, who informed her of everything and encouraged her to come see us.

When Mike came, he sat down next to me and gave my shoulder a little squeeze. He was absolutely unaware of what was going to happen next.

After a few minutes had passed, Loren entered the room as Mike was in the process of eating my food. As soon as Mike laid eyes on her, his smile began to fade, and the colour began to disappear from his face as he became aware of the trap he had created for himself.

“Surprise!” I let out an exclamation. “Both your fiancées in one room!”

When Mike was attempting to explain anything to the table, he fumbled over his words. It was me that interrupted him.

“Save it,” I told her. You are able to pick up the tab. I have returned your grandmother’s ring to you.

The ring was removed off my finger and placed in the middle of Mike’s plate after I slid it off.

“We deserve so much better than you,” I whispered to myself.

Mike was left behind to fumble about for explanations that no one wanted to hear, and I walked out of the room after that. I was unable to fathom how Loren was going to handle the situation with him. Before going back to fetch my car, I went for a walk around the block and took in the fresh air by walking around the block.

When I entered my flat, I was suddenly overcome with a feeling of agony that I had been completely unaware of. The fact that Mike had met another woman and even proposed to her during the time that we were together was incomprehensible to me. I had loved Mike with everything that I had, but I couldn’t believe it.

That is, with a ring that is exactly the same!

To me, this was a sign. I was thankful that Mike had not moved in with me since, at least, my space was still mine because he had not moved in with me.

I am currently sitting in the dark, looking at the phone that is pinging with messages from our new group chat. All of the messages being sent to me and Loren are messages of encouragement.
