‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ By Brenda Lee Is Still Number One On The Billboard Hot 100 65 Years After It Came Out.

Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around, the Christmas Tree” tops the Billboard Hot 100 65 years after its release, with a new music video contributing to its resurgence. Lee, at 78, becomes the oldest person to achieve a chart-topping hit, surpassing Louis Armstrong. This marks her first time outperforming Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” since Billboard allowed Christmas song re-releases. Four of the top five Billboard Hot 100 songs are Christmas tunes.

In the past few weeks, US singer Brenda Lee has firmly pushed her new song Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree. It worked; the song is now at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Lee beat Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” for the first time since Billboard started letting re-releases of Christmas songs chart on the Hot 100.

Lee’s record company, UMG Nashville, persuaded her to put out her first music video for the song last month.

In October, she taped it in Nashville, Tennessee, with her friends Tanya Tucker and Trisha Yearwood, who is from Georgia.

She will sing the song on NBC’s Christmas At The Opry on Thursday. She just joined TikTok not long ago, and Dolly Parton praised her.

The woman from Nashville, who is 78 years old, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution how much she liked singing the song in 1958 when she was not even a youth.

Over the years, she said her No. 1 song, “I’m Sorry” from 1960, would be her signature song. Today, this happy song by Johnny Marks is what people remember her for.

The song came out in 1958 and 1959 but didn’t reach the top of the Billboard chart until 1960, after “I’m Sorry” had already been there for a while.

That year, it got as high as No. 14. Billboard started letting older songs back on the chart in 2019. Before that, it peaked at No. 2 in 2019 and 2022.

Rockin’ is only the third Christmas song to reach the top of the Billboard charts. This is because of the way the chart works.

That was done by “The Chipmunk Song” in 1958, and “All I Want for Christmas” has been No. 1 for 12 weeks straight since 2019.

In October 1960, Lee’s song “I Want to Be Wanted” was her last No. 1. This is her first No. 1 since then, more than 63 years ago.

She is the artist with the most significant gap between No. 1 songs. Cher held the record between Dark Lady in 1974 and Believe in 1999.

It’s also the longest time between a song coming out and reaching the top of the Billboard chart. Carey used to hold the record for this.

Lee is also the oldest person to be number one on the charts. At age 78, she beats Louis Armstrong, who was 63 when Hello, Dolly! was number one in 1964.

She takes over for Carey on the solo Holiday 100 for the first time. Since 2015, Carey has been at the top of that chart for 43 weeks in a row.

This week, four of the top five songs on the Billboard Hot 100 are Christmas songs. Carey is in second place, Robert Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” is in fourth.

Wham’s “Last Christmas” is in fifth. The only non-holiday song in the top five is Lovin’ On Me by Jack Harlow.
