From Betrayal to Payback: The Secretary’s Revenge

Husband Cheats on Wife With Secretary, Then Karma Hits Him Back

When Shirley discovers her husband Brody with a different woman at work, her life completely collapses. Shirley ends up distraught and homeless when he threatens to divorce her and steal everything. However, everything changes when someone new enters her life.

Shirley was shocked to see her husband Brody making overt advances towards Lila, his secretary, in their workplace. They didn’t seem to notice her at all as her hands trembled and she dropped the spoons in her hands on the ground.

“Brody, what’s going on here?” With a voice that broke through the office’s quiet, Shirley faced them.

Pretending to be innocent, Brody asked, “What’s wrong, Shirley? We’re just talking about our jobs.

“This is how you discuss work?” Shirley said with a hint of rage. “By reaching up her skirt with your hands? in the public eye?”

Brody admonished Shirley, “Don’t make a scene,” but she was unwavering.

“We must speak. privately. “Now!” she commanded.

Brody became enraged. “You have no right to dictate to me. Today I’m going to file for divorce. I’ll accept the residence.

“My house is not yours to take. It belonged to my parents. You’re not entitled.”

Brody grinned. “Remember that you are married to an attorney. Simply keep an eye on me. We’ll rejoice on every surface in every room after I move Lila in.”

Shirley was so shocked and upset that she was hardly able to react when Brody shoved his wedding band into the cake she had bought for them to share.

He scoffed, “Maybe you can pawn this for a dog house,” and he and Lila walked away.

With whispers of sympathy all around, Shirley was left in a trance. Later, while she was by herself in a budget hotel room, she was overcome with tears when she remembered her relationship with Brody.

How could this stranger be the man she had sworn to spend her life with? Was she truly able to let go? Did she have anything to do with Brody turning to Lila?

She was so overcome with emotion that she pounded a pillow in an attempt to release some of the grief and rage she was feeling when someone knocked on her door. She opened the door, expecting to see a staff member, but was taken aback to see a strange man.

“I was informed… He stumbled, “I thought I heard a cry for help.”

You did not hear correctly. She yelled, “Go away unless you can help me keep my house from the husband who’s divorcing me,” in a brittle voice.

The intensity of her words caused the man’s eyebrows to shoot up. He then gave her a full body examination before saying, “I’m not sure I can help with that. I now see, though, why he is divorcing you. He turned on his heel and left after that.

Shirley followed him to his room, furious and not going to accept his remark. She stopped his door from shutting and screamed, “What did you say to me?”

In an attempt to be clear, the man said, “I was concerned about the noise.”

She shot back, saying, “I clearly know what you meant!” “I may not look perfect, but that doesn’t give you the right to judge me.”

With a trace of regret, the man nodded gently, “You’re correct. You’re not worthy of that.”

When his words registered, Shirley was briefly surprised and the battle left her. But he moved back fast, closing the door in her face with a rigidity that left little space for any discussion before she could react or process.

“Hold on! “I was still yelling at you!” she exclaimed, kicking the door and cutting her foot in the process.

She hobbled into her office the following day, her mind still racing with the stranger’s ideas. She suddenly remembered: Mr. Williams is coming today!

With a mumbled “Great, just what I need when I’m already a mess, a new boss,” she sat.

The voice behind her said, “Well, your new boss is already here,” in a frighteningly familiar and unwelcoming tone. “You must be my kind and helpful secretary, Shirley.”

Shirley froze, then slowly swivelled in her chair to find that the man she had screamed at, the stranger, was actually Mr. Williams, her new boss!

Facing Mr. Williams after their altercation at the hotel, she was visibly shaken. She started, “I’m sorry about last night,” but Mr. Williams didn’t seem to be listening.

“Your actions were wrong. I’m expecting more from my staff members,” he interrupted. “I require the Richardson v. Richardson case file. Now,” he gave the command and strode to his office.

Shirley took his criticism in stride, embarrassed, and went about her work, rummaging through a jumbled mess to find the Richardson case file. She swept her hands quickly over a pile of papers, strewing them all over the place and catching Mr. Williams’s disapproving gaze once more.

“What’s causing this delay? He walked over to her and said, “I asked you to bring me the case file, not scatter it across the floor.”

“I-I have it here,” Shirley said, blushing hot with shame as she handed them the paperwork.

Mr. Williams accepted the papers, his eyes darting over the mess that had once been a neat little office corner.

“What a disaster this is. It appears that neatness isn’t your strongest suit,” he said icily.

He turned and walked away before she could respond, leaving her to tidy up. However, Shirley’s issues were far from resolved.

Lila and Brody showed up while she was cleaning up the mess, and their laughter made her feel even more ashamed. For Shirley, this was the final straw. She was sick and tired of men constantly making fun of and demeaning her!

She bounded into Mr. Williams’s office and proclaimed, “I’m no longer your secretary. I give up.”

Unfazed, Mr. Williams declined to take her resignation. “Get back to work on the Richardson case, Shirley.”

“Not at all. Shirley firmly stated, “I’m leaving, so please sign my resignation.

Mr. Williams responded, “I won’t sign this,” before crumpling and throwing her resignation letter out the window.

Shirley, filled with frustration and sorrow, sat down at his desk and wrote yet another resignation letter, her words driven by the hurt of injustice and betrayal. Before she could finish writing, she broke down, saying, “Look, I just can’t take it anymore.” “What is it with men like you… that makes you think you can control my life?”

As he listened, Mr. Williams’s expression softened. He got up and sat down next to her, saying, “I’m not refusing to accept your resignation because I want to bully you.”

She looked up at him and pleaded, “Just let me go.” “I can’t—”

Mr. Williams pulled out a handkerchief and gave her tears a gentle pat. Shirley broke off then.

Mr. Williams said, very sincerely, “I can’t let you go because I like you, Shirley,” taking Shirley by surprise.

“But after their rough beginning, you don’t even know me, Mr. Williams,” she shot back, perplexed by his attitude.

“Call me Nathan, please. “Although I may not be entirely acquainted with you, I respect your resilience and bravery,” Nathan attempted to reconcile with them.

Shirley was conflicted, doubting Nathan’s motives because of Brody’s previous remarks, which were tormenting her. Shirley, thank you for my affection; no one else could ever truly adore you. You are nothing more than an instrument.

Shirley hurriedly left Nathan’s office because she couldn’t begin to understand everything that had happened over the past few days.

When she came at work the following day, she was taken aback when Nathan walked up to her desk with two coffees and offered her one while grinning broadly as though he was sincerely trying to make her day.

But Brody and Lila’s blatant show of devotion as they arrived at work eclipsed Nathan’s tiny gesture of bringing Shirley coffee.

Shirley hurriedly said, “Excuse me, I need to step out,” before running to the loo to get comfort.

Nathan discovered that Brody was Shirley’s spouse when he approached a different secretary who was mockingly observing Brody and Lila. Nathan was perplexed by Shirley’s response.

The secretary clarified, “He’s flaunting their affair right in front of his wife.”

Nathan was taken aback. He would not breach the boundaries of human decency, even though he longed to march after Brody and deck him.

Shirley brought a pile of Richardson case files into Nathan’s office later that day. She started to go after setting the documents on his desk when Nathan’s voice interrupted her.

Shirley, would you please linger for a bit? To arrange these arguments for the lawsuit, I need assistance.”

Shirley hesitated, then turned back slowly while wearing an inquisitive expression. Yes, I am able to assist. What specifically do you need?”

Nathan grinned. “I’m attempting to present our case in a stronger way. I believed you could offer me new insight.”

Nathan and Shirley’s conflict eventually gave way to respect and understanding as they collaborated closely on the case. Nathan and Shirley had easy-going discussions, and Shirley was startled to learn how much he loved jazz.

“You’re into jazz?” Curious, Shirley asked.

Yes, you are unaware of a lot of my background. “Jazz is just the start,” smiled Nathan in response.

As their relationship grew, Shirley began to feel more and more attracted to Nathan. But she continued to exercise caution, keeping in mind her recent heartbreak.

Nathan went to Shirley’s hotel room one evening to ask for her assistance with a vital point they needed to make in their case. Nathan looked honestly into Shirley’s eyes and said, “I need your help to convey my feelings more effectively in the opening speech.”

Shirley was let down and worried that Nathan was using her only as a tool for his career. She concealed her hurt sentiments, though, and agreed to assist.

An inadvertent contact during their close work led to an unplanned intimate moment.

He said, “Chocolate,” observing a smear on her lip and making Shirley feel heated under his touch.

“You’re here for the speech, right?” Shirley questioned, attempting to stay focused.

“No, Shirley. “I’m here for you,” Nathan feigned sincerity in his voice. “I can’t stop thinking about you despite your situation.”

Shirley was shocked and found herself letting down her guard as Nathan shared his true emotions. A knock at the door cut them off just as they were ready to share a sweet moment.

“What do you want, Brody?” Shirley found her inebriated husband at the door and made a demand.

“Shirley, please. “I simply… I require solace,” he whimpered, awkwardly groping for her. “Baby, I’ve missed you terribly. I was fired by Williams.”

“Avoid touching. Me,” she growled, attempting to shove him away, but Brody persisted, aggressively and desperate backing her up against the wall. Luckily, Nathan stepped in and asked, “What’s going on?”

With wide eyes, Brody moved away from Shirley.

“What’s he doing here?” Angrily, Brody demanded.

“That’s none of your business!” Nathan lost his temper. “Get away from her!”

“I am the owner of her heart,” grinned Brody in response. “It’s been a long time either way, ten years or seven years married, and she still loves me.” Every day, she begs me to return to her over the phone.”

“That’s not true!” Shirley objected, but Nathan was out of sight. Shirley slapped Brody away, threatening to report him for harassment, as he tried to grab her again.

With snow falling all around, she went outside and watched as Nathan got into his car. She knocked on Nathan’s window and said, “Can we just go back inside and talk, Nathan?” “Please?”

“No.” Nathan gave a headshake. “I should’ve known that this, you and me, was too good to be true.”

“How dare you believe his stupid lie about me begging him to come back?” exploded Shirley’s wrath. If you don’t stand up for me, how can I possibly fight for you? Say something, please!”

After a little period of silence, Nathan got out of the car and turned to face her. “I wish I’d met you seven years ago and protected you from all the bad you had to suffer alone.”

Nathan leaned forward and clasped Shirley’s face, stopping her breath. She shuddered at his hands.

Nathan responded, “I…I want to make you happy,” as he met her gaze.

“You already do,” Shirley said in response.

Their first passionate kiss felt like the beginning of something fresh.

Plus, I’m gonna sue Brody. Nathan remarked, “He won’t get away with what he’s done to you.”

After Brody’s injury, Shirley thought for the first time that things could get better. She was aware that Nathan was her real love.
