Whispers in the Night: A Mother’s Frightening Discovery on the Baby Monitor
“Mom Installs Baby Monitor in Son’s Room and Gets Scared When She Sees Movement There”
When a mother sets a baby monitor in her son’s room to keep an eye on him because she finds him to be constantly tired and restless, she never expects to find a startling movement that makes her shudder.
“Honey, don’t worry. Everything is going to be alright. Alicia held her baby Edduin in her arms and whispered, “Momma is here.” In the middle of the night, the boy had woken up and would not stop crying.
After some time, Alicia had to take her laptop and all of her papers from the couch to the front table and settle down to sing a lullaby to Edduin while they sat on the couch. For the first ten minutes, that didn’t appear to work, but gradually, it did, and Alicia exhaled with relief.

She put Edduin back in his crib, kissed his forehead, discreetly shut the door so as not to wake him, and went back to work.
“How am I going to handle everything this way? John, I wish you were here! The woman went to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee, thinking to herself, “I miss you!”
Nearly a year prior to now…
Alicia Silvers and her husband John made the decision to tour the world after physicians informed them that they would not become parents. Sydney Opera House shows, serene Honolulu beaches, Las Vegas tables and buffets, and Bergen’s magnificent fjords.
When Alicia found out she was pregnant, they planned to plan a trip to the Bahamas. After returning to their hometown of Fayetteville, North Carolina, to celebrate the occasion with close friends and neighbors, she and John were ecstatic.
Both John and Alicia were raised in foster care as orphans. While John was employed as the managing director of a company that produced parts for home electronics, Alicia was a stay-at-home wife.
In a happy marriage, they had all they could have asked for. They enjoyed each other’s company, had a great house in a great neighborhood, and now had the joy of having a child. Alicia was happy for a short while, then one terrible evening, everything fell apart.
Greetings? To whom am I speaking, Alicia Silvers?”
“Yes? How can I assist?”

“Ma’am, this is Officer Duncan. I regret to notify you that your spouse lost his life in a horrific vehicle accident on Farm Road Highway. We have your phone number from his mobile. We would be grateful if you could visit as soon as possible to confirm the body.”
Alicia was hearing things that she couldn’t believe! John had informed her earlier that morning that he was leaving town for a business meeting. She had informed him she didn’t feel great about it and didn’t want him to go. He had, however, persuaded her that she was exaggerating and that all would be OK.
At the time, Alicia was seven months along in her pregnancy. She gave in and gave John a farewell kiss when he insisted on going to his meeting. Despite his assurances that he would return soon, she couldn’t handle the shock and gave birth as soon as she learned the awful news.
Thank goodness, she contacted Mrs. Hall, the neighbor next door, right away, and she hurried to her house to call 911. After being taken to the hospital right away, Alicia gave birth to a boy. But because he was born too soon, he spent some time in the NICU.
Alicia took over John’s company and started working to support her kid when she and the infant were released from the hospital. Her MBA made it easy for her to understand the workings of the organization. Edduin was quite small and frequently needed his mother’s attention, which caused problems.

Madison, John’s secretary, was very kind and helpful to Alicia. She suggested that Alicia work from home and helped her set up her workplace so that Alicia could take care of her infant.
Although Alicia had the option, she chose not to hire a babysitter to watch the boy. She began working from home because she wanted to take care of her child on her own. In this way, Alicia was able to take care of her son and work at the same time.
That is how nearly a year went by. Alicia had no idea that another problem would soon knock on her door.
The current day
Alicia organized all of her files, decided to have one more look at the reports for the day, and prepared herself a cup of coffee before heading into the living room. It was close to one in the morning. She finished the work in thirty minutes, and then fell asleep on the couch from exhaustion.

At eight in the morning, she was startled awake by Edduin’s cries. She leaped to her feet and ran to him, finding him with waterfall-like tears falling down his cheeks.
“Honey, what happened? She began to rock him and inquired, “Are you hungry?” This was the second time in a week that Alicia had observed Edduin weeping violently and restlessly while he slept.
She checked his crib to make sure nothing was sticking out at him, but she couldn’t find anything. After a while, she finally decided that maybe he might be okay and decided to wait and see whether the crying persisted.
After a week or so, Edduin’s sudden crying thankfully subsided, much to her relief, but he still looked quite exhausted every day. Every time she tried to play with him or hold him in her arms, he would yawn and touch his face, and the toys he used to love would no longer appear appealing to him.
She worried about it and called a doctor, but it didn’t seem to be helping much.
“Doctor, I’m concerned because he appears extremely peaceful most of the time, but he also appears exhausted in the mornings. Why is it the case?” worriedly asked Alicia.
Do not be alarmed, Mrs. Silvers. The doctor told her that babies seem to go through phases. “Perhaps Edduin is going through the same.”
“How long, though, before he recovers? I’m genuinely concerned for him.”
Remain calm, Mrs. Silvers. That kind of time limit doesn’t exist, but all will be well. It differs depending on the baby.”
Alicia assumed it was just one of those stages and hoped Edduin would get better soon. However, a week later there was still no improvement, and Edduin appeared more and more worn out every day.

After putting him to bed one afternoon, Alicia wanted to see how he was doing and heard an odd noise coming from his room. Edduin appeared to be laughing and there was a presence in his room. She opened the door quickly but saw no one inside, so at first she assumed it was just her suspicion.
The room seemed oddly silent, and Edduin was staring at her from his crib. There was nobody in the room when she checked the bathroom, the pantry, and below the bed.
Thinking it was stress from work, Alicia went back to the living room, but the behavior persisted the following day and the day after that. Edduin would laugh aloud or just stare around the room when he would suddenly wake up from a sound sleep every day.
Aware of a possible problem, Alicia set up a Wi-Fi baby monitor inside Edduin’s room and watched the live broadcast while sitting in the living room.
For the first few minutes, everything seemed to be going according to plan as she kept her eyes glued to the television. But after ten minutes or so, she spotted Edduin’s lip tilting in a smile and a sudden movement in the room.
Alicia rushed to Edduin’s room and shut the door because she thought someone had broken in. When she discovered her kid wasn’t alone in the room, her hands trembled and she shivered in fear.
But when Alicia noticed that the visitor was just a cute little dog surrounding Edduin’s crib, she let out a breath of relief. He looked frail and unclean, and he made a low, hard-to-hear sound.
The small dog hid behind Edduin’s cot as Alicia opened Edduin’s door. Alica realized what had happened when Edduin burst out laughing.
It turns out that after Doblo passed away, Alicia and John had neglected to shut the dog door at the back of the room. It was once Doblo’s playing room, but after he passed away, Edduin utilized it as a nursery.

After Edduin was born and John departed for his heavenly dwelling, Alicia realized that she had forgotten to close the dog door. That’s how the small dog entered the room, where he proceeded to play nonstop with Edduin and would not go to sleep.
Alicia saw the animal in that condition and felt bad for the unfortunate creature, so she made the decision to adopt it. She called him Casper, and he’s now Edduin’s best friend. Many thanks to little Casper, Edduin is a much happy baby and doesn’t cry as much anymore. He also sleeps better because Alicia makes sure the two don’t spend all of their time together.
What lessons may we draw from this tale?
- Being a parent is a difficult job. Alicia is a great example of a mom going above and beyond for their child because she balances employment and taking care of her infant at the same time.
- Acquire compassion for animals. Alicia saw the puppy was in a bad condition and decided to adopt him.
