Karma’s Swift Justice: When Words Turned into Reality

I Told That Disgusting Woman That Karma Keeps Track of Everything, but I Didn’t Expect It to Work So Fast

When a woman went to the drugstore in good faith to get her prescription filled before they closed, she encountered a bully who made fun of her appearance. The woman decided to leave everything to the world because she was so tired from the day, and it responded quickly and humorously!

Thinking back on the strange turn of events that transpired today left me with a confusing range of feelings. Permit me to recount the events as they happened, straight from my recollection, when I was still sitting in my car, feeling shocked inside.

I’ve experienced my fair share of adulting difficulties at the age of 23, but nothing nearly compares to what transpired at the pharmacy following a demanding workweek. It was an aisle-length, absurdly long line that required patience in and of itself.

After waiting for five minutes or so, I thought my moment had finally come. That is, until she suddenly appeared, an elderly woman whose age I could only estimate, and stood beside me. Abruptly, she turns to face me and says:

“What gives off that grease trap smell?”

She then pulls a face and says, “Well, you smell really bad.” She says, “Get out and take a shower first,” and then she arrogantly stands in front of me! I was taken aback. After such a demanding and exhausting day, I never imagined that a stranger would treat me so badly.

It would have taken me longer to return to the same pharmacy after taking a shower at home than it took to simply stop in as I did. This drugstore was thirty minutes from my place of employment; by the time I arrived home, had a shower, and drove to the nearby pharmacy, it would have closed, and I would not have my chronic medication.

Her harsh, cruel comments sliced through my tiredness. Tense from the day’s difficulties and the long travel ahead, I shot back, “Well, maybe you should have the decency to mind your own damn business! Please wait your turn like everyone else by standing behind me; I’ve been in line.”

With a curt reply, she said, “Oh yeah? I mean, this pharmacy’s owner is my wife. Thus, stop talking and remain still.” Feeling the weight of the day’s exhaustion on my shoulders, I tried to put a stop to this pointless argument by offering some snide advice, saying:

“I don’t want to waste my time on someone who is so awful. Go ahead and do as you choose, but keep in mind that karma is watching.”

Karma was a notion I never really thought about, but at that particular time it made sense. With a sigh, she finished her purchase and marched out. Eager to get away from the negativity, I did as well. However, destiny has a more pressing lesson in store.

I hear a scream that breaks my heart as I step outdoors. As I step outside onto the street, I find the same obnoxious woman standing there, drenched from being in the mud. Her appearance had changed from the pharmacy a few minutes earlier; she appeared unhappy and less self-assured.

She was apparently covered in mud and foul water after a passing automobile slid into a puddle. Her costly clothes and bag didn’t look any better, and she looked terrible with mud caked in her salon-styled hair. Even though we had argued earlier, I felt much better!

I dissolved into giggles. She screamed at me, and I didn’t have to answer. “Well, who’s awful now?” was all I said. and turned to leave, grinning. As I made my way to my car, she remained there, covered in mud, staring at me with a look of shock.

Unbidden laughter filled the space between us. This time, she directed all of her rage toward me, asking, “How dare you laugh? Do you find this humorous? Her indignant yells receding in the distance as I entered my car, realizing I’d already won the fight.

Before I left, I spent a few minutes sitting in the car. The timing is astounding, and it has me wondering if I have any control over karma. Is this really how karma works, bringing about such exact and unclear retribution? Or was it just a coincidental event, a cosmic comic moment on a typical day?

Whatever the case, it’s a tale that will stick with me, a clear reminder that occasionally the universe has its own strange method of keeping things in balance—and that it did so today with a very funny twist!

If you liked that story, here’s a sneak peek at five more that will convince you that karma exists.

A Reddit member describes what happened to him at a dinner date with his fiancée at the time and her father. He describes the complex chain of events and feelings that culminated in a memorable outcome. He clarified that after divorcing her mother and getting married again, the woman’s father—who would later become his wife—seemed to prefer his new family over his original daughter.

The seemingly routine dinner quickly turns into a heated argument with far-reaching consequences as tension builds. The future father-in-law had made a kind offer to pay for supper, so the evening was supposed to be low-key.

The older man made a move that temporarily eased the tension beneath the politeness. But when the daughter decided to take her leftovers home, things took a different turn, and her father made a mocking remark that ignited the drama for the evening.

In an effort to defend his partner, the fiancé confronts her father about his rudeness. This leads to a heated argument in which the dad finally storms out, leaving the bill and a trail of mixed feelings in his wake. A tense wait for the bill ensues, with the father lurking outside, boiling with fury, and the threat of an impending clash.

But there was a twist to the evening that nobody could have predicted. Amidst the excitement and fear, the couple finds out they’ve won the top prize in a competition the establishment organized! The irony of the win is that the winner is the one who covered the bill!

This story deftly interweaves the intricacies of familial bonds, the endeavor for reverence and comprehension, and the unexpected ways in which karma may materialize. This is a tale that emphasizes the value of sticking up for those you love, the erratic nature of life’s obstacles, and the delightful discoveries that can arise from stressful situations.

A reminder that, even in the most routine of situations, the universe occasionally has a way of making amends and rewarding those who stand up for dignity.
