Christmas Cheer Turned Sour: A Rich Mom’s Mockery at the School Fair

“Rich Mom at Christmas School Fair Mocks Another Mom Who Works at Night”

After making fun of the mother of a different kid who works late shifts at her daughter’s Christmas school fair, the woman discovers the true identity of the other woman.

“Now, kids,” Miss Davis remarked. “I want you all to talk to your moms about bringing goodies for the school Christmas Fair!” The students all raised their hands in the air and began speaking at once right away.

Miss Davis said, “Yes, Jenna,” to a cute girl in the front row with a pixie cut face. “What do you want to bring?”

“Cupcakes, Miss Davis,” excitedly exclaimed Jenna. “My mum makes the BEST cupcakes in the world!”

Another small girl immediately let out a yell of outrage. Yet cupcakes is what I was going to say! It isn’t just!”

Miss Davis scowled. “Patty, Jenna spoke first, so…”

“But her mum NEVER comes to the school events or anything!” replied Patty. “I’ll bet she won’t come to the Christmas Fair and we won’t have any cupcakes and they are my favourites.”

Jenna blushed, tears welling up in her eyes. “My mum works at night, that’s why she can’t come to a lot of events,” she explained. “But she promised she’d come to the Christmas Fair and bring cupcakes!”

“That’s settled then, Patty,” Miss Davis firmly stated. “Jenna’s mum brings the cupcakes.” However, Miss Davis was going to get a tremendous surprise if she actually believed it was settled.

We should make an effort to set a positive example for our children because they pick up attitudes from us.

She was not happy when Patty’s mother called her that evening. “I do a lot for the school, Miss Davis!” Mama Patty let out a cry. “I donated the money for the new library, I deserve some consideration…”

She went on to say a lot more, and poor Miss Davis put up with her tirade for an agonising hour before letting her know that she could deliver cupcakes as Patty’s mother had requested them. Moms can each bring cupcakes.

The kids had a great time on the day of the Christmas fair. There was a Santa’s village with elves and reindeer (really, they were only ponies with phoney horns, but no one seemed to notice) and a pageant.

The most amazing part were all the booths where mothers arranged dish after plate of delectable goodies, such as enormous sticky toffee pieces, chocolate brownies, and gingerbread men.

When Patty’s mother came, she immediately began arranging the enormous box of cupcakes on plates in her stall. She soon met another mother she was familiar with. She sobbed, “Darling,” to Patty’s mother. “Those look delicious!”

“They should be,” Patty’s mother remarked, grinning. “They cost me a fortune!”

The other mother gave a wink. “I thought you were supposed to bake them yourself!”

“Oh, please,” Patty’s mother replied. “Really, who does that? Where’s that woman, by the way? the one who plans to bring cupcakes as well?”

The other mother scowled. “Her tardiness worries me! She stated, “She’s meant to settle down here, next to you. “I can’t imagine what she will bring.”

Mother of Patty grinned. “She reportedly works at night! She looks like a go-go dancer or a stripper, or something.”

They were interrupted by a lovely voice. “Actually, I’m a pastry chef, not a stripper.” Turning back, Patty’s mother and her friend saw a gorgeous woman holding a large box of the most exquisite cupcakes they had ever seen.

Patty’s mother got a red flush. “Oh!” she exclaimed. “Jenna’s mother must be you…I apologise so much.I wasn’t trying to…”

Patty and Jenna came over at that very moment. Jenna exclaimed, “Look,” with pride. “There’s my mum, and she’s brought her cupcakes — she makes them herself, you know!”

Patty exclaimed, “Wow!” “My mum buys hers, but no one’s supposed to know!”

Patty’s mother didn’t know what to do with herself at this point because she was so ashamed. When Jenna joyfully remarked, “Well, my mum was in a Food Network competition and she won!” she was even more embarrassed. “World’s best cupcakes ever!”

Jenna’s mother had to hear Patty’s apology and accept some humble pie. Of course, none of it mattered to the kids. They had a great time and consumed every cupcake.

What lessons may we draw from this tale?

  • We should make an effort to set a positive example for our children because they pick up attitudes from us. In the end, Patty’s mother set a very poor example for her daughter by using her wealth to intimidate others and make fun of Jenna’s mother.
  • Before getting to know someone, don’t pass judgement. Although Patty’s mother believed Jenna’s mother was a “lowlife” due to her nighttime employment, Jenna’s mother was actually a well-known and accomplished pastry maker.
