Eric, Amanda’s spouse, and Michael, his business partner, jointly ran an IT company. At the funeral for her husband, she overheard an unfamiliar man remark that “everything was going according to plan.” But it wasn’t until they learned about Eric’s will that she and Michael realised what it meant.

Everyone was completely unaware of Eric’s passing. Despite being in his 40s and in good condition, his secretary discovered him lying on the floor of his office one day. He was having a heart attack, the doctors concluded, and they were unable to save him.

Michael Hunt, his business partner, was depressed, as was his wife Amanda Tucker. Having started from the ground up, he and Eric had developed their IT firm to become one of the top ones in Silicon Valley, California. Everyone in the company wanted to come to Eric’s funeral since he was so liked.

Amanda had to greet and take condolences from at least a hundred people throughout the service, even though she was largely numb the entire time. Her family was foreign-born, and they never had children. It seemed as though she had no one else to confide in but Michael.

Amanda listened intently and heard clearly, over other people’s noise, “Everything’s going according to plan.” Amanda turned to see that the man had left when someone else arrived to give her sympathies at that very moment.

She questioned Michael about him, but she was unable to characterise him precisely. “Amanda, it had to have been an employee of the company. Eric was adored by all. He was a devoted employer who was the best boss around. Michael answered, “I’m not sure how we’re going to survive without him.

She forgot about the odd man and his mysterious remarks after hearing Michael’s words. She had matters to resolve before continuing with her life.

Michael gave her a call a couple of days after the funeral. “Amanda, please come down to the office of our lawyer. He said, “There’s something he wants to talk about.”

Do you want to talk to me, Mr. Ferguson? How about it? There wasn’t time for Eric to draft a will. Is there a problem with the company? Amanda enquired with concern.

“It’s unclear exactly what’s happening, but you must attend. I’ll also be present. “There’s a mystery going on,” Michael murmured. Amanda dressed and headed to the meeting, unsure of what to think.

The odd man from the funeral was, somewhat surprisingly, in the attorney’s office. “Mr. Ferguson, good to see you here,” Just as Michael entered the office, Amanda greeted the lawyer and scowled at the man seated in the corner.

“Mrs. Tucker, my deepest sympathies. Eric will be missed by all,” Mr. Ferguson answered. “I’ll solve it straight away. I’m your husband’s executor under his will.

“However, Eric did not leave a will,” Amanda shot back.

Mr. Ferguson sighed as he gave her a sorrowful look. Indeed, he did. Eric had drafted a will a few months prior. Although the procedure was hurried, he appeared adamant, the attorney disclosed.

Dear Mr. Ferguson, what’s going on? Eric never took any action without first informing me or Amanda. That’s not logical at all. Why is Benjamin Scott present, too? Michael asked.

“You are aware of that man?” Startled, Amanda enquired.

Yes, Michael replied, “he worked closely with us for years.”

Mr. Ferguson clarified, “Mr. Scott is here because he is one of the beneficiaries of Eric’s will.” Michael and Amanda exchanged shocked glances before the attorney disclosed that Eric had given Benjamin his portion of the business.

“It’s not possible!” Michael let out a shout. Although Amanda remained silent, she too found it hard to believe.

“Mr. Hunt, it’s not impossible. Smugly, Benjamin added, “I look forward to working with you as a partner and not as your subordinate at last.” He then walked out of the attorney’s office. Mr. Ferguson was unaware of the motivation behind Eric’s choice.

“Something is occurring. At Eric’s funeral, the man told someone, “Everything is going according to plan.” He took a shot at Eric. After they left the attorney’s office, Amanda started to cry.

Amanda, don’t be alarmed. I’m going to investigate this more. Michael vowed that Benjamin would not get away with doing this.

Michael made an instant hire with a decent P.I. company. After several weeks, they learned that Benjamin had repeatedly threatened Eric.

Horrible emails from an unidentified account that they were able to link to Benjamin’s home appeared on Eric’s computer. Frequently, he threatened to hurt Amanda. They also found video of Benjamin striking Eric within his own workspace.

That was sufficient to start a police inquiry, and before Benjamin could seize the corporation, he was taken into custody. Michael had a suspicion that Eric’s motivation was to buy Benjamin some time and maintain his composure while he came up with a solution. Amanda was so grateful to him.

“Well, I wasn’t letting that man take advantage of all our laborious efforts. Michael retorted, “I wish Eric had told me what was going on sooner so I could have helped him.”

It’s likely that he didn’t want word to spread. However, I have a query. With whom was Benjamin conversing during the funeral? Amanda pondered.

“Police are looking into that.” However, I believe it could be one of our rivals,” Michael went on. “People will do crazy things when it comes to money, and this business is brutal.”

Eventually, Benjamin revealed his accomplice’s name, and the police took him into custody. Michael was correct; it had been a significant individual from a rival company. After that, he increased security and sacked everyone they thought might be working with these individuals.

Michael operated the corporation, and Amanda received Eric’s shares in the interim. They never had to worry about Benjamin again as the firm grew.
