Inside a ‘Dystopian’ Apartment Block Where That Houses Over 20,000 Residence.

Millions of people around the world have been captivated by an enthralling aerial video that has been making the rounds on TikTok.

It shows off a massive residential complex in China called the “Dystopian Apartment.” The video, which was shared by user @fatheristheone,

shows the architectural wonder from above, leaving spectators in awe of its enormous size and futuristic style.

Nestled in Qianjiang Century City, Hangzhou, the Regent International apartment complex has attracted a lot of attention due to its impressive size and capacity to accommodate 30,000 residents.

The 675-foot-tall structure was designed by Alicia Loo, the well-known lead designer of Singapore’s Sands Hotel, and was finished in 2013.

The Regent International is a thirty-story building with an inventive S-shaped design. It has restaurants, swimming pools, nail salons, grocery stores, and internet cafés, all of which are easily accessible within its walls.

The goal of this self-contained setting is to give residents everything they require without requiring them to leave the building.

Though it is called a “dystopian flat,” most residents are not forced to stay inside. Rather, the complex primarily serves college students, young professionals, and influencers who are lured to its affordable and practical living options.

With monthly rental units that range from 1,500 RMB to 4,000 RMB, the Regent International provides unmatched convenience for a variety of budgets.

But there have been complaints about confined outdoor space and personal space, which is reminiscent of feelings that are frequently connected to dystopian novels.

Advocates, however, praise the structure’s creative design and hail it as “the most sustainable living building on earth.”

Dense living arrangements such as the “Dystopian Apartment” may provide answers to urban congestion without requiring large tracts of land, given the ongoing worldwide housing crisis.

Living in a community has its appeal outside of China. A 14-story skyscraper that houses all 272 residents in the US city of Whittier,

Alaska, has adopted a model similar to that of Hangzhou and offers an abundance of services.

Though debates over the benefits and downsides of these kinds of apartments continue, the “Dystopian Apartment” nevertheless captures people’s attention and makes them think
