If we were to be completely honest, Nicky Weaver was a spoilt and self-centered kid, and her mother Sophia would have to take the brunt of the blame. Ultimately, Sophia had been the one to spoil Nicky, showing him all of her affection and financial resources.

Nicky was Sophia’s only kid, and when their child was just three years old, she suffered serious injuries in a vehicle accident, leading to her husband’s divorce. Sophia had made it through, but her wounds had left her deformed and disabled.

She gave her lovely, intelligent little kid her whole care and affection after her husband passed away. But rather than developing into a compassionate, giving person, Nicky had turned conceited, ill-mannered, and cruel. However, she had some things to learn from life.

It all began in high school when Nicky became acutely aware that Sophia wasn’t the same attractive, athletic mother as everyone else. Along with a horrible scar running down her neck, Sophia was limping.

Nicky came to the realization that Sophia was not the mother she wanted everyone to know. Sophia was not allowed to go to any school events where her peers may see her, according to her.

She’d said, “Look mom!” to Sophia. “I’m the most popular girl in school and the prettiest — you don’t LOOK like my mom!”

Then Nicky moved away to college, and Sophia had missed her terribly over those years. She even succeeded in forgetting how egocentric and emotionless her child could be.

Sophia had been thrilled to hear that Nicky had received an offer to work in their hometown from her mother. Nicky had returned home and was back in her parents’ house! But Sophia was in for a shock if she believed that Nicky would become more sweeter with distance.

With joy for her daughter, Sophia grinned. “I’m so glad you found a young man you love…”

“Love?” Nicky enquired. You can’t possibly think I’m that dumb, can you? You got married out of love, and now look at you! As long as George provides me the life I desire, I’m marrying him and I’ll be a nice wife.”

Sophia timidly asked, “So…” “When do I meet George and his family?”

Nicky gave Sophia a sly glance and forced a false smile. “Oh, I’ll organize something one of these days!” It wouldn’t do to tell her mother about her true plans too soon, she reasoned, since she would need a place to stay until she was married.

But after a few weeks, George informed Nicky he was interested in seeing her home and getting to know her mother. Nicky looked quickly at himself. “You know my mom is a businessman, and she’s now on a trip…But dinner is on you!”

Nicky told her mother when she got home that afternoon, “Listen, you have to make an amazing dinner because George is coming over!” With excitement, Sophia got to work preparing dinner and setting a lovely table for three.

Glamorous as a movie star, Nicky emerged from her bedroom and fixed her gaze on the dining table. “Three?” she inquired. What’s on your mind, mother? George and I are eating dinner alone.”

“Nicky,” Sophia exclaimed. “This is my house, I’m your mother…”

“Not tonight!” Nicky stated icily. “You’re the maid tonight. I can’t let him decide he doesn’t want to marry into the family after seeing you!”

When George arrived and Nicky presented Sophia as the maid, Sophia was completely embarrassed. A few minutes later, Sophia was dismissed, told to come back in the morning.

Sophia grabbed her purse and headed out. She requested her closest friend Anne to come over since she was inconsolable. Sophia was greeted by Anne, a vibrant and attractive resident of the same building.

“What’s happened?” When Anne spotted Sophia’s gloomy expression, she inquired. When Sophia finally revealed the entire tale, Anne was incensed even though Sophia didn’t want to tell her.

Anne yelled angrily, “You let this girl trample all over you!” “She merits a well-taught lesson! You spend the night here, and I’ll fix Miss Nicky up for good tomorrow.”

Nicky and George had a great evening together. They danced, ate a delicious dinner that Sophia had made, and stayed up late together. But Nicky was in for a very big surprise that early in the morning.
While Nicky and George were still asleep, the front door opened and a happy voice called out, “Nicky! It’s me! I’m at my house!”

Nicky changed in a dressing gown and staggered into the sitting room, where Anne was waiting for her. Beautifully attired, Anne had a luggage in her arms. She said joyfully, “Good morning, sweet daughter!” to Nicky’s surprise.

It was then that George entered. “Hello!” said Anne, giving George a hearty shake of the hand. “So you’re the one who’s finally removing Nicky from my hands?” she asked. I’m so relieved, I have to say that.”

Nicky was appalled and George was in disbelief, but Anne was winning. You have no idea what you are getting yourself into, my poor man! She is quite picky! She always demands perfection and her way only.”

“That’s not true!” exclaimed Nicky, glancing uneasily at George.

Anne exclaimed, “Oh yes, it is!” “And George, I’m so happy that you’re wealthy! According to what Nicky informed me, you have enough money to get her anything she feels she deserves! She constantly emphasizes that having money is the key to happiness, and you have plenty of it.”

“I never…” said Nicky, but George was staring at her strangely before he silently exited the room, put on his shoes, and went back in.

Nicky yelled, “You stupid woman!” at Anne. “What have you done?”

“Only what you deserve, Nicky!” said Anne. “And prevented a great deal of misery for that young man. It’s time you faced the consequences for the years you have been mistreating and utilizing your mother! She deserves a better daughter, yet she still loves you. In the same way that young man merits a better spouse!”

Nicky was inconsolable. She had never heard the naked truth told to her face before. She began to feel incredibly guilty of herself for what she had done and the way she had treated her mother.

Nicky respectfully went to Anne’s place to ask for her mother’s pardon and for her to return home. That was when Nicky’s change really started. She wasn’t always kind, of course, and occasionally she made mistakes with her back, but overall she was Sophia’s daughter who was more compassionate and caring.
