Inside Ron Howard’s $27.5M Mansion with a Sports Center Where Actor Raised His Children

Renowned silver screen producer and director Ron Howard is among the most successful celebrities in the entertainment business in Hollywood. Over three decades of a distinguished profession have left the public fascinated with his life. The star from ‘Happy Days’ used to raise his children on an opulent estate.

Popular for his numerous film endeavours, including “The Da Vinci Code” and “Angels and Demons,” Ron Howard, 70, has featured in several of them alongside his wife, Cheryl Howard. Along with helming numerous films, he has won awards and received nominations for “A Beautiful Mind” and “Frost/Nixon.”

As a young performer, Ron started his Hollywood career playing Opie on “The Andy Griffith Show” and Richie Cunningham on “Happy Days.” His career peaked after that, with roles in “The Twilight Zone” and “The Journey,” among other films.

His family is theatrically inclined. He was first exposed to Hollywood life as a toddler when his parents, Jean Speegle and Rance Howard, acted in the 1956 film “Frontier Woman.”

Ron had early success, but his family functioned as a stabilising factor, insisting that he be allowed to enjoy his youth. They limited Ron’s professional options, enabling him to play in a small number of other plays, most notably “The Music Man” and “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father.”

At his father’s insistence, the film maker finished his public schooling at John Burroughs High School and started experimenting with amateur filmmaking at this same time. He carried over his filmmaking skills as he got older.

Ron married Cheryl, his high school love, in 1975 when his career was still thriving. The pair then had four children and took great care to raise them well.

Ron nestled his family into a home befitting a celebrity of his stature. Situated on Conyers Farm in New York, between Greenwich and Westchester, the estate had a guest house, an indoor sports centre with a pool, riding trails, and a thriving farm.

Ron and Cheryl reared their children on the property they purchased in the 1990s. Modern conveniences include a theatre with stadium seating, a two-story library and office, six fireplaces, five bathrooms, and six bedrooms. Living area is 17,200 square feet as well.

A gym, a yoga studio, an indoor sports court, and a basketball half-court are among the amenities of the sports complex; the attached guest house adds two more bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Ron thought the land would be the ideal setting for his family. The Hollywood director declared he preferred his children to have a normal childhood and to enjoy their privacy rather than to grow up in the heart of Tinseltown.

After a later $27.5 million listing, the home was only on the market for ten days until Netscape co-founder Jim Clark and his wife, model Kristy Hinze, bought it in 2014. Reports state that this was the priciest sale ever documented in Westchester County.

Outside Features of the House
Before selling the mansion, Cheryl, Ron, and their family lived there for over twenty years. The actor claimed he felt satisfied having provided the best for his family and that he had to sell the house because their children were grown.

Being on 32 acres and surrounded by gorgeous woods, Ron’s “best” is rather remarkable. Ideally placed, just one hour from New York City, the estate is ideal for big events and get-togethers. The Howard family threw multiple parties, two weddings, and fundraisers while they were still residing there.

The home has really amazing outside features. Upon arrival, guests are shown to a 2,500 square foot guest home on the estate with an amazing view of the lake. A two-car garage that links the sports barn to the building and two bedrooms, two full baths and a half-bath complete the lakeside guest house.

Entering the three-story main family home, visitors are enthralled by the white walls, granite worktops, top-notch security system, columns and fencing. In front of the house are also strategically arranged trees and flowers, which creates a lush, green surrounds and a white-painted palace.

Among the highlights of the estate are an organic raised bed vegetable garden, a greenhouse, a koi pond with a waterfall and pergola, and an ivy-draped stone head house. There are also outside eating spots where patrons can have supper or a late-night munchie.

Its location, facing the lake, offers a stunning vista. A riding ring and horse stables are further features of the house that offer equestrians lots of enjoyment. A tennis court and lovely sports house are further leisure amenities.

Features Inside
Ron had a mahogany office and library on two stories in his previous house. Large windows with lovely sitting places and views of the woods around the property highlight this peaceful portion of the house. On the lower level of the main home is a billiard room that doubles as a welcoming lounge.

It has posters from Ron’s films, which include the Oscar-winning classic “A Beautiful Mind” and the 1980s comedy “Night Shift.” A private theatre with 14 seats was another feature of the home, where some of his acquaintances watched and evaluated his unpublished works.

Get to Know His Family
The people in Ron Howard’s life are perhaps his greatest asset. Living in a mansion was made colourful for the actor by his three daughters and son.

Having been together since 1975, Ron and Cheryl attribute their successful marriage to open communication. They have four children together: Bryce Dallas, Paige, Jocelyn and Reed Howard. Every child of the pair has succeeded in the career they have chosen.

Their oldest daughter Bryce is a talented actress whose credits include the Academy Award-winning picture “The Help.” She has also directed motion pictures including “Orchids” and “Vanity Fair: Decades.” Seeing his children succeed is the greatest victory of the loving father’s life.
