Runaway Bride: The Mysterious Paper Swan That Shattered a Wedding Day
Bride Runs Away after Receiving a Paper Swan Moments before the Ceremony – Story of the Day
On her wedding day, Molly has second thoughts about marrying Peter since, despite his money and charisma, he doesn’t share her hobbies. When she gets a letter from her ex-fiance, who disappeared a year ago, it rocks her world. This forces Molly to face her history and make a decision between security and true love.

Molly was sitting calmly in her room, the faint buzz of wedding planning all about her. Despite it being her big day, she was unable to get rid of the knots in her stomach. The smell of vanilla and flowers wafted through the air as her best friend Martha worked feverishly to add the finishing touches to her makeup.
“Molly, please hold still,” Martha reprimanded softly, giving Molly a little flush to her cheeks. “You need to look perfect for Peter.”

Molly bit her lip after inhaling deeply. At last, her voice scarcely raised above a whisper, she admitted, “Martha, I… I’m not sure about this.”
With a mixture of astonishment and concern, Martha paused and glanced at her buddy in the mirror. “Molly, what do you mean? Peter is flawless. He has a bright future ahead of him, is attractive, and hails from a prosperous family. What more could you possibly want?
Molly let out a sigh and turned to look out the window, taking in the bustling garden below with its many visitors. Martha, that’s not the case. Peter doesn’t seem to care about me. He finds me incomprehensible. I enjoy reading, drawing, and taking walks in the outdoors. However, Peter is just concerned with business and money. There is nothing in common between us.

Martha gave a disbelieving shake of her head. “You’re acting foolishly, Molly. I would be ecstatic if I were in your shoes. You’re going to enter a married life that most people can only imagine. Why are you allowing these insignificant things to annoy you?
As Molly opened her mouth to reply, there was a gentle rustle coming from the door. Turning, both women saw a little package stuck through the crevice. Molly received it from Martha after she picked it up.
“Whom might this belong to?” Molly accepted the letter with shaky hands, and Martha pondered aloud.

Molly gasped as she cautiously unwrapped it. Enclosed was a paper swan, precisely replicating the ones her former partner, Colin, used to craft for her. Memories came pouring back to her. She was distraught and alone at the altar when Colin vanished a year ago. Her curiosity over what had happened to him had never subsided.
The envelope contained a message. “If you still love me, come to the place where we first kissed,” Molly read aloud after unfolding it.
Martha’s eyes got bigger. “You can’t be serious, Molly.” You are unable to leave your wedding. Consider Peter, your loved ones, and everyone who is supporting you.

With her mind made up, Molly got to her feet. “Martha, I need the whole story. I’ll never stop wondering if I never find out what happened to Colin. Please wait a moment. Simply take all the time you can to put things off.
Torn between obligation and comprehension, Martha fixed her gaze on her companion. At last, she gave a nod. Alright, but move quickly. I’ll make an effort.
Molly gave Martha one last look of gratitude before gathering her dress and leaving the room with her heart racing. She moved through the house’s back hallways, dodging the occupied guests and staff members. Her escape route was the garden gate, which she hurried through while her mind raced.

Molly was shocked that she was acting in this way. However, it was impossible to resist the draw of the past and the desire to know why Colin had abandoned her. Though she was aware of the great risk she was taking, she was determined to find out whatever the truth might be.
Molly felt a mixture of anxiety and anticipation in her heart as she arrived at the deserted cabin. She and Colin had so many memories of this spot.
As youngsters, they had escaped the world and shared their fantasies here for many hours. The cabin appeared nearly identical, if slightly more dilapidated. The smell of pine filled her nose as she went inside, bringing back a wave of recollections.

She was reminded of their happier times by the worn-out wall drawings, the ancient couch where they used to spend hours talking, and the squeaky wooden floorboards. Colin had never received Molly’s father’s approval.
Colin had no high hopes in life and was not from an affluent household. All he did was adore life and her. He penned her poems, made her laugh like no one else could, and always came up with inventive ways to surprise her with kind presents.
A rush of nostalgia swept Molly as she ventured farther inside the cottage. She had missed their time together and this place’s simplicity. She was startled to see a familiar silhouette close to the window. Colin was there, but he didn’t look like Colin.

He had grown facial hair and was more muscular. Something that she had never noticed before was the combination of resolve and melancholy in his gaze.
“Molly,” he murmured, coming over to her and holding out his arms. Molly, however, retreated a step, her heart racing.
Her voice faltered, “Colin, you can’t just show up like this.” “My heart was broken by you. You abandoned me at the altar. I’m entitled to an explanation.
Colin’s expression slumped as he turned to face the ground. “I understand, Molly. I must tell you the truth. I was reluctant to part from you. I saw your father just before our nuptials. He made me an offer of money to get out of your life. He framed me after I refused. I was taken into custody and imprisoned. I attempted to write you, but my letters were never delivered.

Molly experienced a mixture of despair and rage rising up inside of her. “Colin, I wish you had worked harder to get in touch with me. I’ve been wondering what happened for the past year and feeling like you don’t love me enough.
“Yes, Molly, I did. I do,” he said as he moved in closer. “My goal was to locate you as soon as I was outside.” I had to know if you still loved me when I saw that you were getting married. I sent the letter for that reason.
Molly met his gaze and tried to find the truth. “Do you want to flee with me?”
“Yes,” he said in a hopeful tone. “We can move on from everything and start afresh. Together, we can have happiness.
With tears gathering in her eyes, Molly shook her head. “Colin, I can’t abandon my family like that.” I must speak with my dad. I have to know why he did this.
Colin nodded, looking disheartened. “I get it, Molly. I’ll be waiting for you, so please know that I adore you. Whatever you choose, I will be there for you.

Molly inhaled deeply as she attempted to collect her thoughts. “I must return now. I have to face him in order to get the answers I’m due.
Colin took her hand gently as she turned to go. “Molly, exercise caution. Your dad is a strong individual. Refuse to be manipulated by him.
While holding his hand, she assured him, “I won’t.” “I appreciate you being honest with me.”
With a flurry of feelings racing through her head, Molly fled the cabin. She was going to have to tell her father the truth. She was unable to flee from this. It was time for her to take charge of her life.
With a mixture of rage and resolve, Molly made her way back to the wedding location, her heart racing. As she moved through the silent hallways toward her father’s chamber, her footsteps could be heard. She inhaled deeply before pushing the door open and going inside.

With a look of surprise on his face, her father raised his gaze from his desk. “Molly, why are you in this place? You ought to be preparing.”
Molly spoke steadily while standing tall. “I spoke with Colin.”
The space became quiet. Molly persisted despite her father’s changing look. “He filled me in on everything. How you set him up, got him detained, and prevented him from seeing me. Why, Father? Why would you subject us to that?”
With a sigh, her father reclined in his chair. “Molly, it was in your best interest. Colin has no significance. He has no prospects, no future. You couldn’t risk your life for him, in my opinion.”

“That’s not for you to decide,” Molly responded, raising her voice. “You stole him from me, and I loved him. The nuptials are called off. I’m pulling out of everything.”
Her father grew stern-looking. You shall not be my daughter any more if you sabotage our wedding. Never return and forget about the inheritance.”
Despite the lump in her throat, Molly did not back down. “That’s fine if that’s what you want. I intend to attend the wedding.
A tiny victory flickered in her father’s eyes as his face softened slightly. “All right. Molly, you’re making the correct decision. The future you deserve is with Peter.”

The ceremony eventually continued. Molly’s father led her down the aisle as the music began. The garden was exquisite, with lots of flowers and lovely ornaments. With a mix of anticipation and delight on their faces, the guests turned to watch. Molly tried not to panic, but her thoughts were constantly racing.
At the altar, Peter exuded confidence and good looks. Molly’s heart, though, felt heavy. She was aware that no matter how difficult the decision was, she had to confront the facts and act morally. She inhaled deeply as she arrived at the altar, getting ready for what she had to do.
The celebrant started to speak, but Molly waved her hand to cut her short. With a firm yet faltering voice, she apologized. “Before we move on, let me say something.”
Her father’s expression darkened, and Peter appeared perplexed. The visitors muttered incoherently. Molly stepped forward and looked around at the throng. “Like today, a year ago I stood at the altar. However, someone I loved left me all alone. I have the opportunity to make things right today.

With all eyes on Molly, the audience became silent. A disturbance occurred in the rear at that moment, and Colin emerged from the throng. With his gaze locked on Molly, he exuded determination. As the visitors gasped, Peter’s bewilderment gave way to rage.
Molly glanced at Colin, then at Peter. “My father ruined my wedding a year ago,” she turned to address the guests. Colin was kept away from me and was framed by him. However, I want to put things right now.
Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Martha moved rapidly to divert Peter’s attention and pushed him aside. Despite Peter’s protestations, Martha remained resolute and led him away from the altar.
Molly extended her hand to Colin and asked him to come along. With hope in his eyes, he moved on. Faced away from the guests, they stood together at the altar. Molly apologized for any uncertainty, saying it in a steady voice. But I have to listen to my intuition. You’ve always been the one for me, Colin.

Colin’s expression became happy and relieved. It felt perfect, that instant, when he took Molly’s hand. They exchanged a glance and realized, without uttering a word, that this was their chance. In front of everyone, they sealed their love with a kiss as they leaned in.
Molly’s dad was enraged, his face flushed with rage. As he began to move ahead, he became aware that there was nothing he could do. While most of the visitors were stunned, a few started to grin as they realized how brave Molly had been to make this decision.
Molly withdrew from the kiss and met her father’s gaze. “This is my life, Dad, and I know you wanted the best for me. I have to decide what brings me happiness, and Colin is that.
Gradually, her father’s fury transformed into resignation. Observing Molly’s unwavering resolve, he realized he would be unable to alter her decision. Deflated, he turned aside.

Colin and Molly stood side by side, holding hands. Despite all the challenges they had encountered, their love had triumphed. The visitors started applauding, and Molly felt relieved. Nothing her father did could make her regret the decision she had made.
