Son Uninvites Mom from Wedding Over $8300 Gift – A Tale of Family Drama

Son Uninvites Mom to Wedding for Refusing to Gift Him $8300 — Story of the Day

Rick is really upset since he expected his mother to give him a sizable monetary gift because he is the only boy in a family of six girls and the last to get married.
Aside from his fiancée, Rick Gordon was the only person in the world who believed he was prepared for such a significant life commitment. Rick was nice, but he was also spoilt and reckless, which was a concern.

Rick, whose parents had previously welcomed six daughters, was the sole boy and the seventh kid, therefore he quickly gained popularity as a pet. One of Rick’s sisters would go behind his parents’ backs and get what he wanted when they tried to enforce discipline.

Rick’s mother, who loved him despite having realistic expectations for him, saw that unless Rick matured quickly, he was going to tumble, and this wedding could be the stone that trips him up.

Rick’s mother, Carmen, had already planned six weddings with her own children, and Sandy, Rick’s fiancée, was excitedly working with her mother to prepare the entire event.
After considering his sister’s weddings, Rick made the decision to take a stand for gender equality. Just two weeks before the wedding, he inquired absentmindedly, “Mom? How much does a wedding dress cost these days?”
“Goodness,” Carmen said. “The last one cost $8,300 and was for Rita! Yet I am aware that there may be many more.”
“All right,” grinned Rick. “I’ll take a check for $8,300!”
“What?” Carmen exclaimed. “What do you mean?”

“I’m getting married and I want what you’ve given my sisters,” stated Rick. “I can use the $8,300, believe me!”
“However, you claimed to be renting your tux! You even went to choose it with Dad!” exclaimed Carmen, shocked.
Rick responded icily, “I AM renting the tux, but I think you owe me that money.” “I am also your child! I am entitled to rights.
“RIGHTS?” Carmen’s temper was beginning to flare. “You want money because it’s your RIGHT?”
Rick, who was getting angry, exclaimed, “YES!” “I didn’t see you quibbling over the cost of SIX wedding receptions, so why be stingy over a measly $8,300 which you can well afford?”
“I may be able to afford it,” said Carmen, “but you don’t deserve it!”
Rick went deadly pale. He exclaimed, “I knew it!” “You never loved me the way you loved my sisters, and now you’re finally showing your true colors!”

Carmen retorted, “That’s not true Rick, I love you all equally.” “But in actuality, you’ve abused every benefit we’ve bestowed upon you! You stole money from your sisters that you will never be able to repay and squandered away your college fund.”
Enraged, Rick asked, “So you won’t give me the money?”. “We have an apartment and $200,000 in starter money from Sandy’s parents. I just needed a small bucks for my pocket.”
“Rick, $8,300 is not pocket money,” Carmen exclaimed in shock. “And I hope you don’t gamble with Sandy’s money or your marriage won’t last a year!”
“Don’t you ill-wish my marriage!” Rick gave a howl. “You’re not even welcome here! You should avoid this area!”
“Carmen!” exclaimed “Rick!” “You don’t mean that!”

“I mean it, mother!” Rick gave a hiss. “Dad is welcome, but you are NOT!”
After telling her husband Bill the entire tale that evening, Carmen sobbed in his arms. “Maybe we should just give him the money,” Bill remarked. I am aware that your heart is hurting by having to miss this wedding.”
“No, Bill,” Carmen firmly said. “When Rick was growing up, we gave in to him much too often. This is our final opportunity to be resolute and to make him realize his actions with his life.”
As a result, the wedding took place without Carmen; yet, Rick felt extremely alone because his father and his six sisters would not let him go without his mother. For a split second, Rick felt as though he had made a mistake because not a single one of those cherished faces was in sight.

Rick told his new bride that he missed his family after returning from their honeymoon in Tahiti. “Rick,” Sandy responded, “I think you need to go over there and apologize.”
“Apologize!” Rick let out a furious cry. “I was correct! I was worthy of that cash.”
Sandy mumbled, “Oh dear,” realizing that she was more wiser than Rick had thought. “I disagree! You told me that your parents had to pay to clean up a lot of messy things for you.
“Yes,” Rick said. “But…”
“Be sincere with yourself, Rick,” murmured Sandy, who was beginning to sound more and more like Carmen. “Then pick up that phone and apologize to your mom and invite her to dinner on Saturday.”
After a while of complaining and pouting, Rick picked up the phone and dialed his mother. He asked her when she picked up, “Mom?” “This is Rick…Hehe, I wonder if…You’re accurate. What I’m referring to…”
Carmen responded politely, “Are you trying to apologize, Rick?” “Because if you are you need to try harder…”

Rick bowed and replied, “Okay, mom.” “I apologize. I want to be a better person with Sandy’s help since I know you and dad have cleaned up a lot of mistakes for me and I haven’t been the most responsible person in the world.”
Carmen replied, “Oh Rick,” her eyes welling with tears. “I’m quite happy! Naturally, I forgive you, my son, because I love you. Moms are always the ones who do!”
It turned out to be the most amazing wedding party ever when Carmen, Bill, and Rick’s six sisters, along with their spouses and kids, all went to Rick and Sandy’s house for dinner a week later.
