Daughter Faces Backlash for Refusing to House Parents After Foreclosure

On Reddit a woman is under fire from family members after refusing to let her parents move in with her following their house foreclosure.

After a turbulent childhood, a 33-year-old lady worked hard to create a secure and pleasant home. However, she just encountered a problem when her parents, who are in their 60s, lost their home to foreclosure.

Despite her best efforts to assist them with budgeting, her parents were notorious for making bad financial decisions, so they requested temporary housing.

The daughter, however, turned down their plea since she valued her independence and solitude. She recounts instances in the past when her parents were intrusive and disobedient to her personal space.

They made fun of her way of life, moved her furniture about without her consent, and even sparked a fight with a neighbor.

She offered to help them find an affordable property and even suggested paying their first month’s rent in an effort to support them without jeopardizing her own mental health.

She also gave details on government aid initiatives. Rejecting these offers, her parents insisted that she had a familial obligation to take care of them.

The family is now divided as a result of the circumstance. Her younger sister is sympathetic to her worries, but because of her own living circumstances, she is unable to assist her elder brother, who believes her to be callous.

Feeling abandoned, the parents have been telling their extended family members about the incident, and they are now contacting her with their thoughts.

She is torn and looks for outside advice, wondering if she should be more understanding of her parents when they are in need or if she should put her boundaries and mental health first.
