My Daughter’s In-Laws Stole Her Wedding Money – Here’s How I Turned the Tables

My Daughter’s In-Laws Took Almost All Money I Gave My Kid for Her Wedding, Making Her Look like a Pauper, So I Struck Back

When Hazel learns that her daughter’s wedding was marred by egotistical in-laws who embezzled the money she had saved, she becomes enraged. Hazel sets out on a tireless journey to acquire indisputable evidence, driven by her determination to expose their lies and pursue justice. Can this determined mother, though, find the truth and win back her daughter’s crushed hopes?

I whispered to myself as I stared at my laptop’s screen, “It’s unbelievable.”

My Australian home’s kitchen seemed more colder as I viewed the pictures from Jinny’s wedding.

I had always thought her birthday would be a lavish celebration, so I was devastated by what I witnessed.

Jinny donned a gaudy dress that didn’t fit her at all, and the wedding was place at a run-down café with plastic tables.

I hid my face in my hands, experiencing a mixture of melancholy and rage. How is this possible to occur?

I had so much money saved up to throw Jinny a lavish wedding. I had not intended for her to end up like this.

My phone buzzed on the table, and when I took it up, I saw that there was a message from an old buddy who lived in the United States.

I gave her a call since I needed to chat to someone.

“Hey, Hazel! “How do you feel?” she inquired.

“I’m not that great, Jane,” I answered. “It’s terrible what I saw when I saw the photos from Jinny’s wedding. She was wearing this awful clothing, and they were in this dilapidated café. Jane, I gave them money for a lovely wedding. What took place?”

The other end of the call paused. “Hazel, I’ve been hearing rumors regarding Diane and Charles. They might have fixed their car and home with the money.”

My heart grew even more heavy. “What? Did they embezzle Jinny’s wedding funds? How were they able to do that?”

“Hazel, I’m not sure, but you have to find out the truth. Talk to Jinny, perhaps?”

“Jane, I will. This cannot continue. I must get better and go there. I must clean this up for Jinny.”

I closed the laptop and inhaled deeply after ending the call. I had to concentrate on recovering. I had to make things right for my kid by being there for her.

And so each day turned into a step closer to becoming better.

I strictly adhered to my doctor’s instructions, took my prescriptions on time, and got as much rest as I could.

I even started performing little workouts to get my strength back.

Weeks passed, and my health grew better over time. My will to aid Jinny provided me with the necessary fortitude.

Despite my residual reservations and fears, I called my travel agent one day and made a reservation for a ticket to the United States.

As I was packing my suitcase, I told myself in a whisper, “Hazel, you can do this.” “For Jinny.”

I knew I had to put my girl’s needs first.

My pulse raced when I finally arrived at her doorstep in the United States.

I wanted to surprise her, so I hadn’t told her I was coming. I inhaled deeply before rapping on the door.

Jinny’s eyes widened in shock as she opened the door. She said, “Mom?” with tears in her eyes.

My words were, “Jinny, my sweet girl,” and I gathered her into a strong hug. She was shaking, and I could feel a wave of relief and happiness pass over her. “I’m here, and I’m not going anywhere until we fix this,” I replied.

As soon as we entered, her eyes began to shine with melancholy.

Although the house was clean, there seemed to be an odd weight in the air.

We took a seat on the couch, and I held her hands.

“Jinny, I’m so sorry for everything you’ve been through,” I said. “I regret not being able to attend your wedding; I know it has been difficult after the death of your father. However, now that I’m here, I can assure you that we will put things right.”

She gave me a dejected look. “I was at a loss for what to do, Mom. Nathan’s parents took the money, and I was unable to confront him about it. I was so lonely.”

I gave her hands a comforting squeeze. “Jinny, you’re not by yourself anymore. I’ll support you. We’ll work together to resolve this.”

Jinny wiped away her tears and nodded. “I’ve missed you so much, Mom.”

“My sweetie, I’ve missed you too. More than you can ever know,” I answered, feeling as though my own tears may burst. “But for now, we must remain resilient. We have to stop allowing them to exploit you.

She gave another nod. “I apologize for causing you to go through this. Nathan’s parents are something I don’t know how to mention. He cherishes them.

I gave her a comforting grin and added, “We’ll take it one step at a time.” “Don’t worry now that I’m here.”

Jinny grinned and inhaled deeply. “All right, Mom. I feel like I can handle this with you here.”

“That’s my girl,” I gave her a strong hug. “With each other, we’ll overcome this. I swear.”

The following day, Madison, my attorney, and I were seated at a private investigator’s office.

“Thank you both for meeting with me,” I replied.

“To clean up the mess Diane and Charles created during my daughter’s wedding, I need your assistance. I saved money for her, but they took it and spent it on themselves. Due to her shyness, my daughter was unable to approach them. They exploited it.”

Lucas gave a nod. “Hazel, we’ll investigate this thoroughly. Tell us all you are aware of.”

I described everything, including the cheesy wedding pictures and the pain in Jinny’s eyes. Lucas listened closely while Madison took notes. When I was done, he leaned in.

“Sounds like Diane and Charles have a history of shady dealings,” Lucas stated. “I’ll begin investigating their history. Finding the truth won’t take long.”

And as promised, Lucas had a pile of proof in a matter of days.

He told me, “Hazel, you were right,” when we first met in his office. Diane and Charles have a history of scamming people. They have been abusing individuals for many years.”

He presented evidence that demonstrated their dishonest behavior, which included embezzlement and forged loans.

I said, “Thank you, Lucas.” “This is exactly what we need.”

Madison looked up from her study of the evidence. “Hazel, we can file a lawsuit using this information. But first, I advise going straight up to them. Sometimes, people would come clean just by fear of being exposed.”

I gave a nod. “I concur. I want to face them, but I want to do it carefully. Let’s schedule an unexpected “family meeting” at a classy eatery. It will take them by surprise and give us the advantage.”

Lucas grinned. “I enjoy your style of thinking. Let’s arrange it.

Madison assisted us in setting up the meeting. It was an easy strategy. Charles and Diane wouldn’t have any suspicions until it was too late. To ensure seclusion for the encounter, we reserved a separate room at a fancy restaurant.

I was early at the restaurant on D-day. Lucas had gathered all the evidence, so I set it up on the projector. Everything was prepared. All we had to do now was wait.

Soon after, Jinny, Nathan, Diane, and Charles showed up, mingling and totally oblivious to what was about to happen.

Trying not to lose my composure, I said, “Thank you everyone for coming.” “I have something important to share.”

The first slide came up on the screen when I pressed the remote. I turned to face Diane and Charles and stated, “This is the proof we’ve gathered about the money you took from Jinny’s wedding fund.”

As I went on, their expressions changed from smug to horrified. “You repaired your car and your house with that money. However, it doesn’t end there. You’ve been taking advantage of people for years through a number of scams.”

Nathan blushed, embarrassed and angry at himself. He looked at his parents and said, “Is this true?”

Diane stumbled and stumbled, “We… we can explain.”

I, however, forbade them. There’s no way to explain this. It’s time you took responsibility for the harm you caused to my daughter.”

“Mom’s right,” Jinny firmly remarked. “I deserve better.”

Nathan’s demeanor softened as he turned to face Jinny. “Oh my gosh, Jinny. I was completely ignorant. This is just unbelievable!”

Jinny looked at Nathan and said, “It’s okay, Nathan.” “Now that we are aware of the reality, we may proceed. I apologize that this is the state of affairs.”

I was first to get up and get ready to leave the restaurant, along with Nathan and Jinny. It was obvious that Nathan was hurt, and I understood he needed time to take it all in. Before leaving, we packed our belongings and took one final hard look at Diane and Charles.

I ran into Evelyn, a reporter I had gotten in touch with earlier, as we were leaving the restaurant. Though we’d known each other for years, she was here in her professional role today, with her camera crew assembled.

“Hazel, can you tell us what happened in there?” Evelyn extended a microphone in question.

“Diane and Charles, my daughter’s in-laws, stole money meant for my daughter’s wedding and used it for their own needs,” I responded. “They’ve been involved in numerous scams, and it’s time the world knew.”

As I described the evidence Lucas had found, the camera team recorded. With her hand in mine, Jinny stood next to me, appearing more resilient than before.

Evelyn listened closely, nodding. “Hazel, this narrative will be read by a large audience. I appreciate your bravery.

And the tale instantly became viral. The public’s outrage was swift and intense. Diane and Charles lost their house and had to pay back the money that had been taken, among other social and legal ramifications.

After receiving our money back, Jinny and I started organizing a brand-new, exquisite wedding. Everything went perfectly this time. I was present to witness her walk down the aisle surrounded by well-meaning family members.

Yes, Nathan found it difficult, but he has been making every effort to recover.

You understand now that a mother will stop at nothing to protect her child. How would you have responded in that situation?
