Alex, her oldest daughter, recently revealed that she and her husband are expecting their first child. Getting to Grandmotherhood

Ree informed her friends and followers in June of the wonderful news that Alex and her husband, Mauricio Scott, are expecting their first child. Ree shared her excitement and awe at this new chapter on her blog, jokingly describing her initial shock and bursting emotions.

“Oh my gosh,” she wrote. Alex is expecting a child! My first child is expecting her first child. There will be a child born to my child. It’s unbelievable, and I’m sure that all of you grandparents can identify with the sensation of briefly escaping your body after receiving such news [sic].”

After celebrating her birthday in early January, the well-known chef joked that she was effectively becoming a grandmother at 31 despite being 55. The statement caused a flurry of emotions and inquiries for her.

Alex and Mauricio celebrated the impending birth of their first child on Instagram. Ree was eager to celebrate when the baby shower day finally came around in October. She described her early-morning drive to Dallas on her blog, where she brought an audiobook, an iced coffee, and a ton of mascara layers to freshen up her appearance after the five-hour drive.

With finger appetizers, a mimosa bar, petit fours, and, of course, lots of Dr. Pepper, a Drummond family favorite, the shower, which was hosted by Alex’s sister Paige and her college pals, was a fun occasion.

Ree described the happy but tearful event as “pretty much the typical baby shower, but the details were gorgeous […] and of course, it wasn’t typical for me because the mom-to-be is my own daughter.”

“I teared up a few times, I ate my weight in finger sandwiches, and there was a surprise drop-in from George and Mauricio […],” Ree went on. Ree and her family will undoubtedly always treasure the heartfelt celebration, which was bursting with gifts, laughter, and priceless moments.

“Her sister and friends hosted the sweetest baby shower this weekend, and I teared up a few times (in between tea sandwiches and Dr. Peppers!)” the well-known chef also posted tidbits of the baby shower on Instagram. Everything has passed by so quickly. It seems impossible! I’m very pleased for Alex.

Alex, who was also recording the celebrations, said, “Very important details. 🎀 One day, Sofia will be able to witness all of these memories and realize how cherished and honored she was. I want to thank my best friends for fulfilling all of my girlie baby shower fantasies.

By quietly announcing her daughter’s name, she shocked her fans and followers even more. “Yesterday was everything I could ever dream of celebrating our Sofia Marie,” she said on Instagram. Give thanks to God for these amazing women and countless others.

Marie was chosen as a heartfelt homage to Ree, whose full name is Anne Marie, thus solidifying their shared generational bond.

Sofia Marie’s Dreamy Nursery Inside

In order to create a comfortable space for their soon-to-be daughter, Alex and Mauricio converted one of their guest rooms into the nursery. The space, which at first needed a total renovation, including the carpet, suddenly had luxurious flooring and an elegant, whimsical decor that was meant to develop with Sofia.

Alex posted a video of Mauricio doing renovations on her Instagram to document the trip. An Anthropologie grasscloth mural that combines white flowers, bluebirds, lemons, and tranquil landscapes serves as the focal point of the nursery.

The room is pleasant and calm, with just the proper amount of elegance, paired with blue-striped drapes from Loom Decor. Alex chose an eco-friendly glider rocker from Namesake Home to create a comfy space for storytelling before bed and times of bonding.

She promised more wonderful storytimes to come by adding bookcases filled with beloved children’s books like “The Giving Tree” and “The Velveteen Rabbit,” as well as baby Bibles and Bible story collections.

Pottery Barn Kids’ carefully selected white furniture adds a retro-glam touch to the space. Scalloped edges and adorable accents like a floor lamp and a pretty basket were among Alex’s design decisions.

A pair of small pink cowboy boots on top of the dresser gave a sweet tribute to her Oklahoma heritage. “The memories that will be created in this space bring tears to my eyes. 🥹 Creating and assembling this was a lot of fun.
